Duck Faced Creations - My Art, WIP's and Doodles

Hi everyone,

I’ve been a long time floating around in this art forum and on DA and never much posted here. I have collected many pieces of commissioned art of my CoX characters for myself and my husband from a few of you and I have loved them so much I always felt inspired by all of you in the City of Art community to pick up the pencil again and have not done so until now since putting it down over 14 years ago. Four weeks ago I decided to do just that, and have decided to put a challenge to myself to do a drawing every day for a year. This post is an accounting of my work that I wish to share with all of you my fellow City of players, Artists and Comic book appreciators.

So I present to you my duck faced creations; a weekly blog from me to you, enjoy!

As promised here is Week 2 for you, during week two I received my first ever Wacom tablet and began learning photoshop elements 7.0 I'm still learning and watching tutorials in my spare time but I think I'm making some headway since my first attempt you will see here in week 2. Hi everyone,

As promised here is Week number three for you, during week three I felt really inspired by my fellow players and decided to do several pieces of characters I saw with screen shots floating around the forums. Hi everyone,

As promised here is Week 4 for you, during week four I was looking to work on bringing more expression into my pieces and trying out some new poses. I began the week obsessed with our City of signature characters and began working on a secret project! I also did a series of pieces for some friends of mine on Virtue server and my SG mates. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did drawing them.

Thanks Vexxa, I was on a real roll last week, hopefully I can keep it up. Any support or suggestions would be greatly greatly appreciated.

The only suggestion I can make is perhaps not to draw as hard on the paper so when you try to erase and redraw, it won't show up as much. Perhaps draw lightly and once you have the lines where you want them, go over them with a darker pencil.

Also, to help prevent smudging, place a tissue on the part of the paper where you rest your drawing hand and as you move that hand while you draw, lift it up instead of dragging it.

That's what I do when I draw.

And nice suggestions from VexXxa... Though I'd also suggest looking into different hardnesses for pencils. Yeah, not pressing so hard works but using a pencil with a harder lead is even easier

Nice pencil work Lady Cyrsei, so much detail in the Clinique one, great stuff Pencil is my chosen media too at the moment, tho not posted anything for a while, maybe get chance once the in-laws have gone home... in another 2 and half weeks... arghhh!

I'm definitely getting a lot of inspiration from what I'm finding in signatures, kind of sluggish this week as I'm trying out a new schedule at work so my creativity is slow going. Three pieces so far, one yesterday 2 so far today I currently work in pencil as that's all I have handy but I used to also work in inks water colors, pottery,, batiking and wax but I'm a poor bugger now with a lot less disposable income on renting a space for my wheel and art supplies etc.

I don't know that i've ever seen anyone show up with such a prolific profile. Sometime 2 or 3 drawings but wow. And the best thing is they are good too! I didn't look for long cause they give me funny looks at work if i do, but i will come back and give them all a more thorough once over.

I approve of this thread and applaud your return to art.

Thanks again for the Dragonberry sketch I found in my inbox , gift art out of the blue like that always makes me smile and it was a cool pose .

I think I like Acoustic Assault the best so far, all nice work though.

hehe Accoustic Assault was my take on Mr. Demartino from Daria meets A Pimp Named Slickback for a friend of mine in my SG the pic still makes me laugh everytime I see it.

Deebs I'm glad you liked it I just sort of had this idea in my head of Dragonberry standing all heroically with her scarf blowing around her. I think it would look so much better colored though.
