Vigilante tips?

Running my level 45 tanker through the alignment process to get myself a handy patron power pool, and I have hit a roadblock...

I made it to Vigilante and took a trip through Pocket D to the Rogue Isles. Picked up a newspaper there to run a boat load of missions to get tips (hey, may as well get some XP at the same time, right?) but have run four paper missions now (with my diff set to +0/+8) and have not received a single tip.

Heroside, took be about 15 minutes to get four tips. I had three drop in one radio mission!

Is this just a case of bad luck, or am I missing something?

I did run five tip missions this morning (i.e. within the 24 hour period) so I know I can't run anymore tip missions, but I should still be able to accumulate the tips, shouldn't I?

unfortunately, if you already have run your 5 tips for the day, then you cannot get new tip drops until those timers expire

also for redside the best place i know for getting tips is in sharkhead, especially when ghost of scrapyard is up, his mob is awesome for dropping tips lol, takes me usually 1-10 min of killing to get 3 tips with scrapyards mob (without it varies can take between 5 and 15 depending on luck for drops)

I just go until I get the first one. While running it I usually get 2 more.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

Specifically, you can only carry a number of normal tips equal to the empty Public Fame circles you have, to a maximum of 3 normal tips (special ones, like Morality and Event tips do not count towards the limit), and no more normal tips will drop while you are at your current limit.

Well, that certainly explains it. I thought I recalled getting tips whilst I had 5 full circles, but I must have been mistaken.

It is possible to have three tips and have all the fame points filled - if you run enough of other people's tips to fill your fame points while you have thee tips, you do not lose any tips.

You can get one tip with the circles filled: the tip that gives you the alignment-changing mission.

Two tips, actually: Morality and Halloween.

Working like a charm now, thanks for setting me straight. Half-way to Villain now, with Soul Mastery getting closer and closer by the minute!

Now, if only I knew anything about the patron power arcs... been blue side forever, rarely dipping into the deep end of the alignment pool and none of my villains have made it past level 20.

Well, remember that you can do any of the patron arcs (ie doing one unlocks all of them).
It's not required that you do the patron who's powerset you want to use.

So, if you want to stay thematic you can do the "correct" patron, but you don't have to.

If you're also running it for fun: I recommend Scirroco or Ghost Widow (and do the whole set of arcs)

If you're just trying to get the unlock: I recommend Scorpion (his is the easist first arc and the first arc is all that's required for the unlock)

And if you want pain, do Mako. Lots and lots of pain.
