Discussion: Get ready for a whole load of Rikti!
I'm very glad for this. However, I would also love zone events for other major groups in the game. "Uh oh, the Freakshow have taken their mechanical ambitions too far this time!", "This just in! All citizens are being psychically controlled by the Carnival of Shadows!"(Imagine even Carnie cars on the street and tents popping up places), "The Circle of Thorns have opened demon portals everywhere!", "Stop the Malta snipers... and giant robots... and tanks... and MISSILES!", etc.
They shouldn't be all the time, but varied and often enough that these groups would be worthy of their elite status. After all, the life of a citizen in cities full of super-powered beings is not without its risks... and times are never dull. Villians: "Muahhahahaha.... <insert plan to take over the world>"
A rogue isle taskforce that allows the players to hire/control/Architect-style build a certain faction to begin his or her or its plan to assimilate/destroy/control/rule the world would be even neater! I know that this would probably require new tech though.
Great, just what I wanted, more boring invasions that interrupt my gameplay. And one wasn't enough, we had to have two back to back. Thanks devs.

I happen to think having them back to back breaks up the monotony of having them so spaced out from each other, but that's just my personal take on it, obviously.

Still hate the visit Winscott mission- make it dropable, have it give actual exp or remove it altogether. PS- Down knows who you are.

As this would be my first major even since I began playing City of Heroes/Villains. Im looking forward to it! It sounds like it could be a lot of fun, and obviously you aren't compelled to just fight Rikti you can obviously do other stuff if you want, but either way its pretty cool how these various events pop up.
The zone invasions can be quite spectatcular with the Rikti ships bombing the place before teleporting in the ground troops - the more players there are gathered in the zone, the bigger the invasion force will be.
One of the classic locations is the hill by the train station on Talos Island - and it's become such a traditional place to gather to fight the Rikti that the dves even added a badge there to mark it

Ugh. Hard enough to get up the urge to play CoH with the constant zombie invasions and Deadly Apocalypse (though the latter is merely annoying as you can't do your street sweeping missions, while the former just completely and utterly sucks if you have to be in the zone for whatever reason). Now 4 days of Rikti to keep me away from the game. Awesome. :/
Yay!!!!!

Isn't it time to change this tired, old event? It's ok and all but yeah...

This original post got me all excited. Than it mentioned the date. I wanted simultaneous invasions from both the Rikti and the zombies.
I am so very glad I'm intelligent enough to realize that just because someone doesn't think a particular thing is fun doesn't mean they are incapable of having fun.

Perhaps you love to hate it?
I am simply bored with people who don't seem to like anything about the game but never stop playing it.

I cannot recall anything I have seen you post being positive toward the game, thus my post. It's not just this particular thing with you from where I sit.

Besides, are you stalking me or something? I don't post on here all THAT much. You couldn't have read that many of my posts unless you're following me around or something.
That said, I love the IDEA of events for special times of the year, I just get bored with them doing the same ones over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. It's time to get rid of the invasions, and come up with something new.
I'm glad it isn't a whole week, happy to be able to get the badges on my latest main, sad this indicates that I19 will be later than I thought.
Overall, fairly cool.

Some of you people don't seem to understand that these events are not just for vets. One good example is the new player that posted saying they were going to enjoy the event as its new to them. Plenty of people just started this game and want to experience the stuff they hear vet players talking about, or that they read about here. Plus all of those who want the badges that have not gotten a chance to before. There are plenty of stuff I would like to have in the game that I missed too that, I know, people would complain about. We have to remember we're not the only people playing CoH and stop bitchin' so much.
Personally, I think they are doing this event perfectly this time. I have always liked it, but when it lasted a week it did get annoying toward the end. Unlike most zone events, you can't just fly up to get away from this one. As a matter of fact, flying up is a very bad idea.
So this way I get to kill me some IAs and not have to worry about dodging for the next week. Smiles all around.
Woot!
