Shield/SS

During missions involving freaks I am getting drained pretty bad. Other than staying away from the bosses that rez drain is there anything I can do to help avoid this?

Thanks

Yes. Resist Energies gives you 25% resistance to end-drain effects.

It is available at level 12 on Tanks.

Shield Defense gets Resist Energies? Man, that's news to me!

(Protip: don't listen to the poster above me, ever, because he's almost always wrong.) In your case there are a few things you can do:

1. Softcap. If you're softcapped (45% defense, that is, which is not especially hard to achieve to all three vectors on a Shield Tanker), those endurance drains won't be hitting you often in the first place.

2. Carry blues. Even without adding end drain into the mix, Shield/SS is a very endurance-heavy combination.

3. Build for recovery and +max endurance once you've hit the defense softcap. Slap a Numina and Miracle unique into Health or True Grit, and slap a Performance Shifter: Chance for +Endurance proc into Stamina in addition to your standard slotting.

4. Avoid Freakshow. They don't give as much XP as standard mobs so in addition to being frustrating at times they're also not rewarding your time spent as well as other mobs might be.

I don't know what level you are or what your budget for this character is, but based on your forum reg date you're relatively new so I'm guessing you're low-or-mid-level and don't have much inf, in which case the second and fourth options are your best bets.

Other than all of the good advice Mac already gave you, my advice would be to not avoid them (the bosses themselves).

Learn to recognize the Super Stunners on sight, then eliminate them ASAP.

Be prepared to kill them twice, they res.

Fix'd that for ya Saist

OP: Since you have a Shield Defense Tanker... not Invulnerability, Mac and Deus both gave pretty solid advice for ya.

You can avoid the freaks, but if you don't then make sure you take out those stunners quickly... they'll drain you dry pretty fast. Also, In case you didn't know, you can combine inspirations if you have 3 of a kind... so if you have say, 3 insights and no blues... you can right click one of the insights and choose "combine" in the drop-down menu to convert them into a catch a breath.

Hahahahaha, oh wow.

No, it's not. It's available to Invulnerability characters only.

Shield has no form of endurance drain mitigation; your best bet, as suggested, is to slot for more defense and get defense-granting sets/powers to get closer to 45% positional defense.

Have you EVER been right?

I mean really... EVER?

It just shocks me that out of so many attempts you haven't gotten it right just by pure chance. The odds are surely in your favour that at some stage you will get there.

Best option to save yourself from drains is getting to the soft cap for defence. Unfortunately super stunners will still be a hassle, the rez is auto-hit and the aura seems to hit my SD scrapper frequently enough and she is soft capped too.

At this point my best guess is that he somehow gets a kick out of the frenzy he causes and does it on purpose. It's the only explanation I can think of for how one person can be so consistently wrong.

Listen to macskull. The man knows what he's talking about.

Focus on softcapping your defense as your long term goal. It's much easier/cheaper on a tank than for brutes or scrappers. Once you're at or near the softcap you won't have to worry about Freaks or Carnies draining you.

You do this deliberately. I sure you do.

On top of what people say, other than avoid freaks, locate the main end drainers and smash em first. Knockout Blow is a hold and you can pick them baddies out quick using a macro like "/macro T, "$$targetname Stunner". I do that with Malta Sappers. I can't say I've had too much of an issue with Freak end drains perhaps the build you have is overly end costing, but anyway.

Just to echo what else has been said here:

Once you're softcapped to Melee/Ranged/AOE, the endurance drains for ALL enemy groups become non-issues.

Kill Super Stunners on sight. Make a macro for "Kill my target: $target" or something like that.

Joust your killing blow on the super stunner. His rez is like the warshades rez, you and your teammates feed it. If no one is in range he won't rez and you won't get tagged with an autohit end drain and the subsequent -recovery.
