Kheldian Slot Starvation: A Fix
Flipside, why are Khelds sometimes "meh"ed at? Memory of crap players, quite frankly. You know the ones. "Oh no, a void, I'm going to go hide! Someone kill it! EEEEEK!" Not damage scalars. Not "They go boom a lot when switching forms." But, frankly, players who play leeches instead of squids. Never mind voids have been nerfed for so long they're barely a threat. (Not to mention the whole "OMG it says epic and it's not godmode I deleted it at six it sucked!" crap that has been spewed over the last 15 issues.)

If we're talking about crap spewing, I'm calling it on that bloody acursed 'Quants are nerfed their all pansies' absolute guff.
Just because you(nom-specific) don't find Quants/Voids hard doesn't mean everyone doesn't mind them!
The ammount of times those god-damned kb-mongering scumbag mercs have caused me a helluva lot of pain is not something I really want to recount. Needless to say; Yes, they no longer do cheating, un-typed damage. But they still do a very high ammount of damage, even at minion level, have a near 100% KB chance and a chance for stun, along with a very fast rate of fire for a weapon that, on their lonesome, can kill you in about three shots.
Do I want rid of them? No. But I wish people would stop running this crap up every. Single. God-damned time. It hacks me off something royal.
Khelds are fine and, when played right, decent ATs. Yes, they need some slight buffage and bug fixing (form change iterupts, looking at you!) and such. But my Warshade on a team is an engine of corpse exploding destruction, a sort of purple, cloud form dark matter gunship. And my PB girl slaps stuff silly even solo. It'd just be nice to have the kinks ironed out.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Bah. Fine. We'll delete the khelds, redo them into Blue-VEATs, turn voids into NPCs that run up and give you flowers just for sam, because obviously Khelds completely incapable of being played now, never mind the multiples I have at 50. Yes, including human form PBs, which are also apparently impossible. There should be absolutely nothing in this game that provides the slightest bit of challenge, nothing that makes you think past 'how can I purple this out,' nope.
Just warn me ahead of time so I can cancel my subs. I swear, some people won't be happy until a level 1 *anything* does fully-slotted-Blaster-nuke damage with each attack at Snipe range, instant activation, with full Tanker cap HP, damage and resistance, 1 END per 3 attacks, and every enemy gives AV level rewards while only needing one shot to kill. Of course, we'd probably have people complaining that "OMG, I need to actually target something, that needs fixed!" What-the-hell-ever. (Not directed specifically at Rachel. Just tired of hearing "OMG I'm not a God this is obviously broken" and "OMG I might need to think I never have to do that!") |
By the time I'm level 30 I should love playing a given AT, or at least not feel like I'm barely contributing to a team's overall capabilities. Jack of all trades, master of none is fine and dandy... But I'd at least like to feel COMPETENT at the trades I use.
-Rachel-
I'd trade a bunch of power selections for slots on my Warshade. So many worthless powers.
Branching Paragon Police Department Epic Archetype, please!
Why are VEATs drooled over? Four words.
"Hey look, stacked leadership!" |
ON-TOPIC:
Kheldian's do not need more slots. Peacebringers need buffs in other areas, Warshades are very good right now.
The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

My Fiance plays Fight Doctor a level 50 stalker who plays with my big brute Hardcastle. I've seen what a well-played stalker can do. They're still too squishy and have damage scales too low for my tastes, compared to what they do. Lower HP, Lower defenses thanks to Stealth dropping a power, usually, less AoE thanks to AS and placate, if they get any AoE at all... They're Scrapper-light outside of Hide and Critting. though that doesn't stop them from being soloable, it just makes them less useful to a team than a scrapper or brute would be.

Woooh, I really wanted to give my Brute a play (because it's Halloween and he's a werewolf) but now I gotta play my PB and see just how crap he is. Because so far, not seeing it...

They don't need more slots, that would probably overpower them. Peacebringers do need some help (and feel free to drop in to those discussions on the Kheldian section).
I think all of our respective (and respectible) positions are based upon our execution of these classes. Both Kheld types change wildly once they get a new power, and it seems like one's perception needs to shift more often than they change forms. For example, my career as a Warshade felt like Blaster>Controller Lite>Scraptroller>Brutenukerbicycle.
I personally have never had an issue with either Peacebringers or Warshades. Sometimes that happens, some personalities just "get" a class. The one that constantly slips through my fingers is Corruptor...and I still don't know why. I know it's not the AT's fault. When I hit a stumbling block on Khelds, I always thought, "What can I do differently?" and always found an agreeable solution.
Kheld's are by no mean easy, but I would love to see them less personality exclusive if you understand me. I don't want people to have to "get" them to love them...but their complexity is primarily what this whole discussion has become, right?
I think a large base of players just don't understand them, and that's not an insult. Their original design is mostly to blame for that. Maybe it's time for a sub-section of the Mentor Program?
A Kheldian going Dwarf is the equivalent to a Dragonball Z character going Super Saiyan for the first time: It takes 3 sagas and an extra 6 episodes of soul searching... and a flashback episode... and a episode dedicated to the Villain's backstory... where were we?
Whining about everything since 2006.
Ammo switching for Dual Pistols was my idea:

All, I'll say is that I won't object to some type of buff to the PB, but I don't need one to feel uber on mine. The ability to slog into a x8 spawn and beat it down by myself (it probably takes me a bit longer than a scrapper, but I can survive it easily) is more than enough to let me feel potent.
Personally, I think all the PB needs is a couple of tweeks;
1) Add a resistance debuff to their attacks (along with the existing defense debuff) to up their damage potential in a team-friendly way.
2) Reduce the change time for the form shifts to under a second (as natural shape shifters they shouldn't have to strain like they do before exploding into a form).
3) Improve the recharge time of the dwarf form strike and smite attacks so they can be reliably chained with just a bit of +recharge and make the taunt auto-hit in PVE.
4) Increase the mag on Pulsar to 3.
