Here's the link where I embedded a video report of the accident.

An unscripted car crash happened during the filming of Transformers: The Dark of the Moon in Washington D.C., when a real-life police vehicle drove through the set, reports TMZ. The incident was captured on video, which can be viewed above (via FoxNews’ YouTube).

Police activity was reported near the area due to a report of a bomb scare. A real-life police K-9 vehicle from the Explosives Ordinances Division decided to take the shortest route and had gotten through the movie set. The vehicle collided with yellow autobot car Bumblebee. The police officer inside was taken to a nearby hospital.
I hope no one was seriously hurt. But it does make me wonder what the cop was thinking. Did he just not notice a movie was being filmed in that location? Also, this is not the first time an accident has occurred while filming Transformers: The Dark of the Moon. A bad omen perhaps? >_>

Saw that on the local news last night.

He was probably a bit distracted by the bomb scare and perhaps thinking that doing something about a bomb takes priority over shooting a movie. Police officers tend to be unreasonable that way.

Oh I can understand that. But it seems kinda reckless to drive through a filming location to get to a destination. It might be an emergency, but it may cost lives doing it that way before even reaching said emergency. (And in this case he didn't reach it at all)

It could also be the fault of the production crew though, perhaps they didn't secure the location enough or posted notices of the filming?

Heh on a different note though........ the kid inside me made me think "Poor Bumblebee ".

His radio was set to a different channel than those of the officers that had the streets closed off and may not have known about the filming.

Everyone seems be ok. The car that got wrecked was a production model which they had several of on handle at a given time. It's not like the first film where the camero was a concept car they only had one of on hand and costs stupid amounts of money to replace. (I remember Shia commenting on first film who extremely careful he was around the car.) Ultimately the show most go on.

This damn movie seems to be plagued with problems of the automotive sort. Not to long ago, some poor extra in a crash seen had here lid nearly chopped off by a cable as it ripped through the A-pillar and windshield. I didn't see any follow up stories to see if she survived or is on life-support or whatever. Worst part in that incidint was that the girl was getting paid minimum wage for some pretty dangerous work.

I just saw a story on her and she was left with brain damage, her left side paralyzed and her left eye stitched shut while a lawsuit has been filed.

Sad, and from what I understand, she was trying to break into the business. On one hand it was certainly her choice to do this and if they followed all the work place safety precautions then its just bad luck for her. On the other hand if they failed to do as they should have done, Bay and the studio should get thier just rewards.

Damn typos; seen = scene and here = her >B(

You could just not go see it. I mean I won't be seeing Nolan's third batman film while it's in theathers. I didn't see either of the first two till they were on DVD for free. Hundreds of bad video games are made every year I never touch. People can make all I don't like things they want , I just don't have to experience them.

I live in the DC area, I seriously doubt there was any "reason" involved.

I heard about this on the radio yesterday.

For what it's worth, I've seen a number of movie productions filming in the D.C. area over the years, and the production areas tend not to be marked very well. For instance, I remember mistaking the filming of the original National Treasure for a concert because of all the cables and sound equipment. Despite filming during rush hour right outside a busy subway entrance, the only boundaries they had set were a couple of guys in t-shirts telling people not to trip over things and a couple of tiny, photocopied signs that said "National Treasure" taped to things.

I can only imagine what it's like when they film in the street.

WHen it comes to city streets of course the Police get the right to go where they need to go in case of emergency.
The problem here was lack of communication. Either the cop didn't bother having someone tell them to freeze production for a moment, or someone forgot to tell Bumblebee that a cop was racing through.
