Congratulations! You have super powers and have opted to become a super hero! Good for you.

Now, before we send you out onto the streets, we need to know your super heroic moral code. Where you bend, where you break, and where you break others. This will help us figure out what kind of super hero you should be.

**LINK REMOVED** The survey has reached its maximum!
Thank you for taking the time to fill out this survey and increasing our understanding of super heroes everywhere.

Please use this thread both to discuss your answers and provide constructive criticism of this survey's structure. Survey results will be posted anonymously on Friday

Oh, sweet. I'm totally gonna find out how many people have encountered seeds in a watermelon that was labeled as seedless.

Question #7: Who judges that the probability of success is only 50%? Question should be tossed out.

Be well, people of CoH.

Thanks. I got a comment anonymously to that effect as well. I didn't know how to convey "Trying to save both opens the possibility that you will completely fail".

How would you suggest I construct that question in the future?

(Side note: I'm noticing typos and questions that don't have a "None" option but really should, such as #6. My face is red on such mistakes.)

Marcian, please tell me you didn't just link me to a site with mal and adware seeds...

I've used and seen used this site many times and have never encountered a virus or spyware. I feel very safe using this site and recommending it to others.

Thanks!

Oddly, the internal system has no sense of continuity. I can't find out "Who picked Choice A for question 1 and choice C for question 7". As such, it's hard to draw any correlations such as "Those that would kill more easily are less likely to save ten other people". Frustrating, but the answers I'm getting are very interesting.

Note: The most evenly split question so far is "Would you die to prevent a tragedy?" The answers are split between "Never", "Yes, no matter what the size" and "Yes, but only if the number of people is enough".

I wonder why that's the one that is the hardest to agree on...

Anyway, full results Friday!

A neat little survey. I gave my replies. I'll be interested to see how they match up to everyone else.

You're the only one who picked those answers! You... you monster! You're an anomaly of society, and your sense of justice is abhorrent. Your going too hard/too soft on crime is shameful, and I'm blocking you.

...

Filled it out myself. I did feel that the presumption of a secret identity crocked things a bit.

Anomaly of Society, huh?
*races home to see what, if any servers, still have that name available!*

I concede to your accurate point.

Update!: At least one question has an a very popular answer that I find deeply surprising. I can't say which, though, as I feel that would tilt the survey. If you already answered the survey, post here or PM me and I'll let you in on the details.

Filled one in, too. I may come off as a big boyscout in that, but that's the superheroic me.

Go a lot of mileage from the last freeform input, though. In my opinion this survey is skewed far too much towards fighting crime. Superheroes do more than that. So I added what I thought was missing.

Good point. I tried to make the quiz in response to the debates as to what the perfect morality is. Multiple people will claim that their morality is the best, while that view conflicts with others.

I just want to ascertain which moral structures are most popular amongst my friends and contacts. I know some people that would never kill under any circumstances ever. I know one person who hates the concept of Batman because a real hero would have eviscerated the whole of the Rogues Gallery by now.

I filled it out.

I worry about the ambiguity of both "violent" and "sexual" as descriptors of crime. Tackling the guy you thought was going to rob your grandmother is violent; peeing in public is classified as a sex crime.

I'm quite curious what the unpopular answer is.

While I understand your concern that public urination is technically a sex crime, I was referring to more what is "classically" considered a sexual crime. Let's keep it at: "Things that would make a fascinating episode of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit".

Can't wait to see where I place on the Marcian scale of hero morality!

I've filled it out, and I'm curious as what the 'very popular answer' is.

I filled it out.

I learned dark, horrible things about myself.

I will now go buy a ski mask and extra large beach towel and pursue a life of cold, hard justice.

I'd go with 100% failure to save one or the other. My pre-emptive answer, I save my wife and let 10 unknown people die. I won't deny that those I choose to love are vastly more important to me than the unwashed masses. (Did I just give away far too much of my "hero" status?)

Be well, people of CoH.

Wow... I didn't think I'd wind up slapping the government in the face nearly as bad as your little survey asked me to...

Incidentally: Save the loved ones and the strangers. It just wouldn't be right to let some die when you could save them. If I fail that coin toss at least I'll be in the afterlife with my family. If I succeed: Everyone lives.
