Yep again, the effects are really failing so far this year. They basicly are only doing maybe 1-2 real heavey effects shots per show and like in this one, the SG rescue at the begining looked worse then many fan made movies on youtube.

Really the only good effect in the whole show was the smoke/bird stuff, and then they went the cheap route and tried to block view of clark unroping lois (who basicly this year seems to be simply a character to put in as many seudo sexual positions as possible) even the red curtain that sprang up to cover the screen looked like complete crappola.

You know for everyones talk about how THIS is the season to watch. How they are finally going to mature clark into superman etc etc blah blah, these first few episodes IMO have shown that the CW and creative forces behind the show are really just phoning it in figuring at this point the ratings are what they are, make the show, milk it for the year and wash your hands of it.

And frankly its really what i was expecting. There is no way the WB is seriously going to invest money in a show that has steady, but disappointing ratings that dont really seem to rise or fall dramaticly week to week. And the downside to basicly saying its the last season is really that you wont attract anyone new. Sure you might get a few back that gave up on the series, but if i had never watched it to begin with, im not gonna start because its the final season. If i want to watch it im sure i can catch up on netflix or something later.

Im predicting at this point that 17 or the last 19 episodes are going to be just what we have gotten so far. Crappy special effects, with stupidly basic monster of the week story lines where we watch the "dark force" jump from recognizable named character to the next. Im giving them the possibility of having 2 decent shows in the mix since usually thats about how it goes, if nothing else but by accident. And frankly at this point, i dont predict those shows are going to be the series finalle either More likely they will be a wrap up to the suicide squad story line or something like that. Ill say right now that the dark side fight will probably end up being something ****** like 2 punches and we open a portal to suck the smoke away from earth kinda finale.

Hard to argue with that assessment.

I'm still trying to work out if that is actually Darkseid himself inside Godfrey, or an aspect of him.

I don't know what they are doing here, fully yet and that's the part that worries me. I appreciate that this is a TV series that is pretty much in a different universe to the comics and they are not trying to replicate the comics, so I can understand and even enjoy a different interpretation of the mythos, almost like a "realistic" Elseworld universe, so to speak.

Some things I've really enjoyed, their version of the Justice Society was excellent, their version of Green Arrow I've loved, a modern take on a great character that still keeps the philosophical roots of Oliver Queen, but I was massively disappointed by their version of Doomsday, felt that was so badly done for many reasons.

I'm concerned Darkseid will go the same way, some mystical darkness that takes people over, rather than the New God we all know and love out there on Apokolips. If this "darkness" is an aspect of him sent to Earth, with him still out there controlling everything, I'll love that! Makes perfect sense and keeps it right for the fans. If this is some dark cloud from another universe or dimension trying to get a foothold on Earth, then meh, very badly done for the ultimate menace!

As for Lois.....no no no and thrice no. I love the character, she's almost spot on character-wise, sassy, intelligent, determined etc.....but she is NOT supposed to know who or what Clark is!! Some parts of the Mythos should not be changed!!

Of course Marvel has actually been making movies in recent years while DC hasn't. I mean in recent years Marvel has turned out 3 X-Men flicks, 3 Spider-Man, 2 Fantastic Four, 2 Hulk, 2 Iron Man, Wolverine, Daredevil, Elektra, Punisher...while DC has turned out 2 Batman movies and 1 Superman movie. And yes, I know there's also been DC based movies like Watchmen and V for Vendetta but I'm not counting those since they're separate from the main DC universe.

Apparently DC heroes are so big they're unfilmable so perhaps Marvel was smart to go with smaller heroes.

i agree that a JLA movie would be a far bigger project than the Avengers movie, but i don't see it as unfilmable. i just don't see WB ever making a commitment to doing the movies the way Marvel has. In Marvel's case, tying their films together the way they have has been something of a make it or break it sort of thing, and thus far, they've made it. Not to mention they have a direct hand in their movies. DC, not so much. Mebbe we'll see something down the line now that WB has set up a division specifically to work on DC Comics related projects, but i wouldnt put money on it.
