Battle Ribbon: Vote | Shia vs. CR
I would like to go on record since we are giving out titles to one another , That I am proclaiming myself lord of the ribbon !
id love to stay and lol over all this but emmm me and the Shia have a date for L4D2 ..the new content is supposed to be out today wheeeeeee
Vote = CR
Shia: If you don't like the topic talk to your buddy Suichiro. He the one came up with it.
Oh and if we're picking titles I got dibbs on Lightning Rod of Hate!
But you two, CR and DJ1, are going on like I draw ribbons and bondage on a daily basis and wake up to a fine ribbon breakfast and dream away my ribbony day with ribbon filled fantasies.
And that is just not so. |
In that case, I am proclaiming myself Lord of the Stick!
Shia: If you don't like the topic talk to your buddy Suichiro. He the one came up with it.

While I believe that you do have some valid points, even CR has pointed out that you negate any position you have due to the way you choose to argue. You're not even choosing to look at the factual information here, instead you're trying to build a case based off your skewed perception of things. Being opinionated is one thing, but you're just belligerent and ignorant. I vote that you're the new Juggy and I look forward to the future **** storms that arise due to it.

The Guide to BURN
I'll vote Shia. Mmmm... Sister Psyche in bondage. It doesn't get much better than that.
Also, I would like the title of Master of the Obvious.
I vote CR. His made me smile.
I vote Shia
Casting my vote for Shia.
"Ooo! A little fight in you! I like that..."
"Then you're going to love me."
hmmm.... glad I found this... I really, really love both pieces. Do I really have to pick one?
CR... you should have left the crowd out of the piece, sans the announcer, and cat....
Shia... the wing/hair thing; the numbered "ribbons" was unnecessary, as the ribbons tied them up; and (uber picky, I know) the typo/error on the middle one "if you see happen to spot Sister Psyche" (not that Villains are known as great writers...)
hate to do it, CR... but I found Shia's piece both funny, and like something i would expect to see in the game (a billboard even?)
both works look amazing... the unfinished crowd did it for me
Shia
CR. Dude you seem to notice small details alot can you honestly say you don't see what I'm talking about in Shia's piece?
My vote goes to Shia!
@Kid Spark: No worries man.
Yeah I've heard that (except the bit about the cat... everyone has loved the cat tugging the ribbons) about the unfinished crowd several times now.
Short version... I might've been able to fill the crowd with all new art of other forumites, and planned to, had the deadline been midnight (which it has been every other month) but it was 7 hours shorter than expected this month so I just did what I could right up until the last moment then posted what I had.
Tried explaining it a few times now.
So you're saying something more like this?
CR. Dude you seem to notice small details alot can you honestly say you don't see what I'm talking about in Shia's piece?

On the one hand I want Shia's piece to be valid so we can have a legit finale to this contest. Also if there are not two valid entries then there is no prize money and that means I cannot win anything for charity.
On the other hand I do see what you are saying. There are certainly some very adult themes and imagery expressed that I think go over the line.
However my thoughts on the issue don't decide anything anymore than anyone else's here do. Officially it's up to Bayani how he wants to deal with it. He inherited the judges position when Wassy stepped down and it's his prize money so he can accept Shia's piece or not as he sees fit.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
@Suichiro: DJ is saying you came up with the idea. It's a true statement... you did.
You are saying Wassy chose the theme. Also a true statement... she did.
You are both right... the two ideas are not mutually exclusive you know.
My hand made "roll eyes" emoticon mocks you both.
P.S. "Lightning Rod of Hatred" would actually be a sweet name for an electric based villain or vigilante lol.
Oh come on... is Shia's piece really any worse than anything done by Charles Moulton? AKA: Wonder Woman.
If the above themes were ok for kids in the 40's then I would hope that over the past 70 years we have not become so fragile and sheltered that such a Comic Book Staple (IE: Heroes being tied up in compromising positions) is now taboo.
This complaining over the change from midnight to afternoon or whatever is sort of silly, don't you think, CR? It's not like the contest said you had to do it overnight in a single day (Although honestly that would be sort of bad ***, I'd be all up for something like that in the future, I remember hearing about comic contests online where the participants created a comic in a day or a week or something), you had exactly as long as I had to work on it, about 3 weeks.
I was honestly rather impressed that you came in at the last minute and tried to come up with a piece (until someone noticed you cut and pasted most of it from old pictures in your gallery, but as there's no rules against it explicitly posted this time I 'spose it isn't a big deal), but when you wait to the last minute (as I know I have in the past), you get what you put into it, really. It'd really show a bit more maturity on your part if you'd just stand by your work and stop trying to make excuses for it. Be a man!
Yes, Suichi came up with the theme as a joke, yes Wassy decided it'd be a fitting end theme, but hey, she's the judge, and going in every contestant pretty much agreed to go by her judging for the sake of the contest, and the theme itself isn't all that important anyway. Each person is going to interpret it differently, and once more, it isn't as though the theme was in any way partial or showing favoritism on my part (However the results in both pieces did seem to lead both of us into rather risque areas). I had just as much trouble coming up with an idea for it as you did, I expect, I just got on the ball a bit sooner since this was the last month I and I wanted to make a good show of it.
And on a final note, if I win, I'm spending the prize money on a completely different charity, the American Economy :P I'm gunna blow it all at an Octoberfest celibration up in Big Bear and see how drunk I can get, and how many poor destitute hookers I can wake up next to. Remember people, a vote for me is a vote for poor destitute hookers!

all future voting should be sans reasoning. a name or piece of art and nothing else. That presents it's own challenges.
Roxy On DA...Finally!
First Place, Shia. Second Place, CR and Third Place, ???!
CR, you do fabulous work! However, you must know in your heart that this piece was just not your best. I know time constraints were the obvious Achilles Heel this time, but none the less, your work just looks incomplete. I'd like to see your piece look the way you wanted it to if time had allowed.
By the way peoples, if Shia's piece was not appropriate, it would have been mod'ed by a "real" MOD, which is not our current host.

My vote is for Shia.
Battle: Ribbon voting has been completed. The winner of the abridged 2010 FArt Competition is...
SHIA
Below is the final tally for all votes submitted before October 7th 5:00pm ET.
The prize money has been sent, so my obligations here have been completed in full. Congratulations, Shia. Enjoy your booze and destitute hookers. I encourage everyone to follow Shia's shining example and support their local economies. The booze won't drink itself and hookers would get lonely.
Congratulations Shia.
Yay bro !!! yay !!
what rig you hooking up??
Just my desktop PC, rather than my laptop. Once the rigs hooked up to internet, I can start actually getting serious about joining the art scene here, as working on a laptop to submit stuff is a pain in the skitplate
