YAY! I finally bit the bullet and tried an artist who could do fantastical/science fiction types in a realistic fashion. I was always concerned on how my characters would translate over into that style. I found the perfect guy for it and I'll be sending many of my characters his way as well as looking into other artists who practice realistic images.

As I said on my DA page, I really love the coloring, the smokey eyes, the hair, the makeup, etc. The choker and crown were a bit different and took a couple edits to get it to where I liked it but he was super quick and understanding with all of my feedback and addressed everything I brought up.

Kharnage is offering a special on Character Busts so if anyone is interested in his style, take Sam up on it while you can! He's looking for things that will challenge what he normally does and I think the lot of us can definitely challenge him with our characters.
I love this one... and the artist responsible went on Watch instantly.

Thank you. I'm really lucky to find an artist who could take what was in my head and put it down visually in one fell swoop!

Haha. Most of the fairy tales need to just watch out for GQ. I'm going to get them all eventually. And their little dogs too.

Yay! Glad you like the piece and the artist. His deals used to be 20 bucks a bust but now it's 25. If you're in the market for a new piece then you may want to jump on it soonish before he goes up in price again. I should too, I have a few more characters I'd love to see done in his style!

Maybe I sell my characters short but I never really think they are visually arresting or interesting enough to work as a bust - unlike the awesomeness of Goblin Queen there. I am interested in the possibility of a full body commission though so I'll be keeping an eye for that. Unfortunately, my commission buying might be down in 2011 but I'm sure I'll find a little spare cash here and there.

Yay for new art styles for Goblin Queen!

Since the last time I showcased Fishcat101's art, his style has taken a turn. Although a good one, I won't say it's better. Just different and very stylized. His new pieces are very Tim Burtonesque, which I love so it's all good!

This was a part of his 5 dollar draw specials. You paid for a slot and he picked the style out of a hat for you. So it could be black and white head sketch, full body color, etc. I bought three and have two more to decide on. I *think* that special may be over and he's increased his prices, rather drastically, but couldn't hurt to ask if anyone is interested!

I think I'll be using Mister Halloween for the next pick as this style would really suit that character. For the third I'm at a bit of a loss since I don't have many characters that fit that look. However, he's done some interesting Steampunk looking pieces and I may use my Contraptionist with his clockwork toys as the third piece. I'm just debating if I should wait until the rumored Steampunk pack comes out to make changes to his costume. ;P

First post after a new art.

look great, really wild. That goblin at the top reminds me of one of the gorillaz. For no reason in particular other than the face.

That looks really cool, can't wait til I get home and can see full sized!

Edit: Yep, looks even cooler full sized! Definitely a new artist to add to my watch!

Haha, I can totally see that now that you point it out.

Glad you like it (and him). He has at least three or four different styles he's mastered now. Very talented!

So I normally don't go out of my way to get art for Mister Halloween until it gets closer to that time of year BUT since I had three picks to give Fishcat101, I figured Mister Halloween was a no brainer for Gabe's new style.

All in all he did a great job and got this piece out the door extremely quickly. I like the chaotic and action captured feel to this scene. I also like the stitch work he did for Mister Halloween as it's something I try to get across in his costume in game.

This is my final piece from Gabe in regards to that 5 buck draw special he had. All in all I'm very pleased with these three pieces for just 15 bucks!

This is the very first piece of art I've commissioned for the Contraptionist, my Steampunk character. A lot of his pieces are delving into the Steampunk genre so I figured it was a good time to break the Contraptionist's clockwork cherry. Now, Gabe took some liberties with the Clockwork I showed him. The Contraptionist is surrounded by Clockwork pets in game (man, if we ever get Clockwork skins as a Robot MM option.. reroll!) and what you see is his version of them helping him making a new Clockwork. I think he would have done the original Clockwork great justice if he did a more literal version of them but I'm happy with the final piece nonetheless.

I hadn't had anything done b Scruffyronin in a long time. I recently noticed that his commission list was cleared so I jumped on an affordable sketch commission. I asked him which of my characters in my gallery he wanted to try next and he said, "Definitely her!" and linked to a picture of Brimstona.

I really like what he did with her. He caught her evil joy at hellish carnage quite well. A while back I rerolled Brimstona from Fire/Dark Corruptor to Demon/Storm Mastermind and I'm glad I did. Gives a lot more options for scenes as evidenced by her stomping her hooves on her demon minions and wielding that flame whip. ♥

Very nice... I am tempted what with hearing empty commission list but I am trying to hold off a while to let the funds replenish

Fun stuff, always liked your avatar... especially like the Rantz and Redg404 pieces... am very tempted to give her a go, can I ask what her powers are, and who would you cast as she in a movie?

I'd be thrilled if you gave her a spin!

Tough questions for me to answer without a lot of explanation, let's see.

Power wise, there isn't a set in game that fully matches what I've had in mind for her. I've tried Illusion/Kin back when I first made her at launch. I tried Plant/Psi when I rerolled her as a villain. I guess I'm waiting for one of two things: Illusion/Whip Assault (or Illusion/Dark) for Dominators WITH the Phantom/Phantasm pets being customizable to goblins OR Demon Summoning/Dark or Pain or Storm with the Demons being customizable to where I turn them green to look like goblins (or outright costume edited goblins). Basically, general magic use that specializes in illusions, darkness, goblin summoning and whip assault. If I had to roll her right now as a power set considering no more new stuff for CoH then it'd be Demon MM and I'd waffle on Darkness/Pain/Storm as secondaries and pretend the demons were goblins.

As to who I would have play her in a movie, it's funny, I've been thinking about this for a while and debating with a friend about who it'd be. I finally narrowed it down to the following top three: Rihanna, Victoria Beckham and Natalie Portman. All with short hair styles and during times that they acted or looked their most wicked. In an ideal situation I'd amalgamate them all together for the perfect Goblin Queen. If I had to choose between the three... it'd be tough. Probably a coin toss on Rihanna and Victoria.

There were many contenders who I had to think hard about: Keira Knightly, a young Winona Ryder, Morena Baccarin (omg - Anna in V, 'nuff said), Shannyn Sossamon, Halle Berry, Pink and Hillary Swank were all in the top selections. I had to narrow them down on the potential evil they could pull off in their looks, the fay qualities about them and other such traits.

Hmmm those last few choices were much more interesting than the 3 you mentioned. Can I surprise you? From your description, I see a great many details that would be fun to create... I may have to bump you to the top of the list, so I don't lose my window for posting. Okies see you tomorrow... looking forward to this one. She's got so much potential!

Sure! Surprise away. I'm still not sold on who would play her. I saw something in each that I mentioned as having great potential in playing her role. My friend probably influenced me greatly (they're a Spice girl fan...). I was thinking of running a DA poll to get more feedback - I'm so conflicted on who would be the best GQ. After having a character for 7 years it's hard to give that honor to just one famous personality! Haha.

At this point dude, I'm starting to miss the ole' girl, and might actually play for a month. But I'm leaving for England with the wife first week of May, so I might join again for 3 months when I get back... A summer of COH couldn't hurt?

K here's what I have so far, I found this pic of NP, which is the least smiley one I could find, and I thought this would work. To make sure, I painted out the hair, added yours in and put on the crown. I'm liking it, but if this isn't GQ enough for you, I can try again...

If you say yes, I'm gonna start from scratch and paint the whole thing up, instead of just using the photo. Okies talk to you tomorrow... or whenever you get this.

I think that's really cool! I was a bit taken aback since you said Natalie was one of the less interesting people I listed but she was around the top of my list so I'm happy with her at any rate.

A few pics that I was looking at that propelled her to the top are shown below. They weren't smiley and had short hair built in (could make it easier to paint over?).

Sorry if I got carried away. I was looking at so many pictures for *each* one of those personalities on the list, which was about 10 or so people total, that I have a lot of reference shots for each at the ready. Kinda like showing them off. I think in these examples it illustrates why she was in my top picks.

And now my cold medicine is just making me ramble. In short - Natalie is a good and I love that you chose her and where you're going with it!

Actually I had counted her out, and had started looking at the V girl initially, then I went to some of the others you suggested, and on a lark went back to her and did a search. I found this amazing piece by someone on DA, and it was dark and erie, and green... and I thought yeah, that could work.

I definitely like some of the angles you have here, but not sure if they will work for the whip I want to put in her hands. I gotta do another sketch, but I think at this point I already have your approval, so I'm just gonna go for it tomorrow.

Sounds good. I'm super patient so whichever angle you prefer is fine, I'm in no rush. Look forward to it.

Wow LJ, did you 'shop her eyes into that? If not those are amazingly awesome. I want to stare at them all day.
