The Queen's Menagerie

Hey gang!

I'm just now been bitten by the art collection bug thanks to the recent sketches by sythspawn (Nazghul1 on the forums) and have started an official deviantART page. I've uploaded the small amount of art I've gotten and just got my first commission! I have a couple more pending so hopefully in the not too distant future there will be more.

I've submitted some of the art to the CityofHeroes group too, the 3 a day restriction prevents me from getting it all there but soon enough! I think I'm going to be abusing my wallet for some time now thanks to this new addiction.

Feel free to stop by and take a gander at the art, find out about which artists did the work and watch/friend me - anyone in CoH gets an immediate watch right back, since CoH players are awesome by default.

That looks pretty cool. The face is reminiscent of Masamune Shirow's stuff.

Both of these have such a cool, classic pulp-fantasy vibe, I love it. I can see her hanging out with Conan or Dejah Thoris. Hope to see more soon!

Goblin Queen finally got some color in her life. Newest piece from Wansworld. While checking him out, should check out his girlfriend too, MiliescentCurse, who I think is way talented and I plan to hit up for a commission.

I did say there was no escape. But, um, yeah. I did kind of wait til you were trapped, didn't I? Ooops.

MiliscientCurse (prolly spelled wrong) is great and just keeps getting better. I was lucky enough to get a gift piece of Fenian from her way back when which I love! She still seems to be focusing on chicks though so I have yet to try to get her to do the rest of my chars...

Anyway, as for the latest pic... I am having a bit of trouble telling if that is a cape or what behind her. A large part is probably that I'm looking at it Gia my phone... But it does seem the same color as her flesh so I am partly wondering if it may be wings?? 0,o

besides that though, I really like the line work... Colors aren't mind blowing to me but the only real issue is the cape/wings/phone thing...

Appreciate the feedback! Yah the cloak is the only thing that's a bit off to me but only because the way it's moving, I'd have preferred if it was hanging instead of flapping up but I suppose it was to show movement of floating around on wind - some sort of updraft.

She doesn't have wings normally but she does wear the Insect 4 cape which is transparent like wings. Tho the artist didn't know this, I RP it so the cloak is magical and can turn into insect wings when she flies around (I use a costume change for the travel power to insect wings). So he did pretty well with making the cape transparent and giving it some of the patterns of the cape in game. It's a hard one to pull off I think.

I'm also quite happy someone included her.. tail this time around. The only things that make her goblin looking are her ears, tail and skin coloring. Otherwise she looks like a short, dreadlocked fey/elf. :P

Yeah, I found artists often miss the tail. To be fair, they tend not to jump out from most screenshots... Specially with a cape or wings to partially hide/distract from them.

Mister Halloween:



I quite like it. It's a much darker version (in more ways that one) than the only other art I have of Mister Halloween. I really like having the contrast between the two and will probably get a few more of him! I also love the bat brooches. I wish we had that in game! Hmm.. time to go pester Noble Savage.

New art! Jean did a great job with making her very powerful looking this time around. May have to get this colored at some point!

I went through and edited all of the art pieces in this thread to have a smaller thumbnail (thanks to Thornster for teaching me that trick!). Just click on the images to see the bigger versions with better details on their DA pages.

Here's another Mister Halloween piece. This time by Wansworld. I'm SO loving the colors on this - Halloween being my favorite holiday may have something to do with it.



He got the jacket, cape, sleeves, belt - almost everything down perfect!

That one came out great!

I really like the colors as well and he did a great job on the tattered cape. The spider cape clasps were a nice touch too.
One thing struck me as kind of odd though (not anything wrong just unusual)... I've seen plenty of fiery eyes but not ever a nose flame before.
Was that intentional? Funnily enough I have a fire blaster with the face that looks like a bear and when he does breath of fire the animation makes the fire stream come out his nostrils.
