Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.
He's suggesting a secondary for blasters... a non thought out one, with no details to what the powers look like, or what they do.
Fail. Edit Just so you can't edit your way out of this stupidity. |
To the OP, you're probably not going to see a Dual Pistols secondary: those are usually more focused on melee attacks and mitigation... I think a DP secondary would almost be on par with BAB's joking reference to a Dual Bows defense secondary. A lot of your powers are like what would go in a primary, or match up with what some secondaries can do already.
Personally, Blasters are due for a Secondary, and I hope it will be using Martial Arts powers (among some new things to make it work). Especially because Maelstrom the NPC is a DP/MA Blaster. That would work, as it would have melee attacks and mitigation powers if set up right.
Guide: Tanking, Wall of Fire Style (Updated for I19!), and the Four Rules of Tanking
Story Arc: Belated Justice, #88003
Synopsis: Explore the fine line between justice and vengeance as you help a hero of Talos Island bring his friend's murderer to justice.
Grey Pilgrim: Fire/Fire Tanker (50), Victory
Orrrr he honestly thinks it might be a good secondary, because he's thinking about what would be cool from movies, etc., he's seen... not what would really work in our game.

Yeah prior to my leaving after i13 I had written up a blade secondary and a martial arts secondary.. dont know where they are now.. and since then they prob been cleaned off the boards..
Freedom:
Iron-Blade 50kat/invul Iron Ascension 50trifpb Cinder Reborn 50fire/kin Zaha'doom 50triws Cindered Stones 50fire/ston ColdFusion 35 ice/rad Iron Ash 50 Fir/WP
Iron Wind km/regen Iron Static elec/reg Psy Entity 50 psy/dev Iron-Assassin 50 nin/nin
A martial arts secondary would be rad. It would be two months of dead gokus everywhere, and also pretty cool to boot.
Active (Freedom): Setna (Ice/Psi Dom), Arram (WP/KM Tank), Tesmiel (Elec/SS Tank), Astredax (Robot/Dark Mastermind), Operative Vidali (melee fortunata)
Retired (Virtue): Gaav (Inv/EM Tank), Baqra (Fire/SS Tank)
Most fun I had in Praetoria is when Maelstrom Sparta-kicked me off of Neuron's Tower from full stealth when I wasn't expecting it.
Better; fix Devices to make it roughly balanced with other secondaries as it's the closest thematically. This means adding a +dam effect that gives Devices equivalent DPM to a secondary with Build Up. In addition, as a Quality of Life change, adjust Time Bomb to be more like Omega Maneuver to prevent redundancy with Trip Mine and increase survivability.
"It's your money or your life madam. Oh wait! Today's Thursday! It's both."

I'd play a blaster if they got a blade and/or a martial arts kapow secondary.
So would everyone else who doesn't currently play blasters, I'm pretty sure.
Here's the thing, though-- aside from the fact that it'd just be a SWEET IDEA and make a lot more character concepts viable, does it seem like something they'd do? Making the smashy hitty stompy powers that scrappers/tankers/brutes/stalkers enjoy available to blasters, and probably do more damage as well?
I play tankers, mind you, and I still think it'd be great. But I can already hear the whining.

After all, blasters can already punch, burn, and shock, swing swords of ice and fire, as well as run damage auras. Blasters currently have tons of melee options, adding some more is not a change in the status quo.
Why Blasters? Empathy Sucks.
So, you want to be Mental?
What the hell? Let's buff defenders.
Tactics are for those who do not have a big enough hammer. Wisdom is knowing how big your hammer is.
Only thing I'd dislike with a blade secondary is how horribly it would match with a blast set, especially if it's a weapon blast. *shudders* WAY too much redraw for me.
I figure a Kinetic melee type secondary or Martial Arts is more likely, since you have no redraw problems, existing powers to work with, etc. Not too shabby.
And... with some people honestly wondering what a Blaster brings to a team in another thread (not sure why... ranged ST and AOE is going to trump melee range any day, unless the damage scales are way off), I doubt melee ATs are going to complain much about Blasters. And as Strato pointed out, we can punch stuff a lot already.
