How have you re-purposed powers?
The very first thing I did was change all my electric alts to have their powers look like real lightning - white with the palest yellow for the accent color. I never liked the weird colored electric powers. All my other changes were mostly for fun rather than fitting a theme.
"Home is where, when you have to go there, they have to let you in."
Ive just thought of another one - my Earth/Sonic Controller Kitten is High.
His Earth powers aren't actually controlling the ground it self but is actually controlling Radioactive Kitty Litter. I have recoloured it with the lava effects and have the lava a bright blue to represent the radioactive part and coloured the earth to have a similar colour to Kitty Litter

And I like the look of coloring an Energy Shield the same color as default Fire Melee, so that it looks like the character has formed a sword and shield from fire.

And I think everyone has repurposed Kheldians as something else. Light based attacks, shadow based attacks. The brother of my Cold/Ice Defender is a NWS [Not-Warshade] who has powers to create black holes and wormholes and manipulate gravity in various other ways.
Thanks! Dusty's been one of my favorites of my characters since her creation. And she's one of the ones I get the most compliments on. So proud ^.^ I've even had people come up to me on their own sand characters saying I inspired them.

Light of the Phoenix - lvl 50 Fire/Emp Controller; Snow Panther - lvl 50 Cold/Ice Defender; Dragonfly. - lvl 50 Willpower/Fire Tanker; Magic Minx - lvl 50 Ill/Rad Controller; Dust Walker - lvl 50 Storm/Dark (Sand) Defender; And more...
I just repurposed a double-Dark Brute as a Night Widow (from an alternate dimension where the Widows of Wrack Noss weave the power of the Netherworld instead of wielding claw and poison). Instead of Mask Presence, I'll use Cloak of Darkness; instead of Placate, I'll use Touch of Fear; I'll likely work out other odd parallels. I won't be doing critical hits, but I'll have Fury instead, a good trade-off.
I recently added a repurposed double-Dark Corruptor as a Huntsman, and a Necro/Dark Mastermind as a Crab.
Lemme explain. With the advent of Power Customisation we can make our powers look like anything we want - so how have you turned one powerset into something else?
For example, I have a scrapper called Goldwave who's meant to be a super-speeder. So you'd think he's MA/SR, right? Nope, Fire Melee. "But Duncan!", I hear you cry, "Fire fists have nothing to do with superspeed!" Wrong. He's punching the air so fast that the friction causes his fists to burst into flame and ignite bad guys. So what weird ways have you used powers as something else, or strange excuses for powers on characters that shouldn't really have them? |
Monster Child is a teenage boy searching for his missing sorcerer father, using his father's books to command a demon. In battle he transforms into the demon.
Here are the original incarnations from whenever the scales were added to the game:
Demon-form is a full head taller and more massive. When I added the IO Demon Wings, which are bigger than standard wings, he looked even bigger. Back in the day I enjoyed wowing onlookers with the costume change, bound to firing off Build Up and the phrase "Unleash the beast!" Looked cool. I had to plan ahead with this character, now anyone can buy the size change emote.

I made a Force Field/Dark Blast defender and colored all of her powers bright pink to represent her mutant ability of "bubblegum manipulation".
Her name? Bubble Yumi.
Oh, and her Praetorian counterpart (named Sweet Tooth) has similarly colored powers, but she's a Demons/Dark mastermind. If only we could color the henchmen... :-p

The Praetorian version of my namesake character uses Demon Summoning as a stand in for Illusions. As he's a psychic, he's literally pulling peoples own fears out of their heads and attacking with them. He even repurposes "in character", claiming to be an actual demon summoner to avoid any bad politics that might come with being labeled a "dangerous psychic".
