First off: Welcome to the game!
Now my standard new player link.

This is the place for instant info.
Your post is a tad bit hard to follow but I'll do my best.
If this is really your 1st toon, as much as I love MM's, I might suggest rolling another AT until you get past the learning curve.
My worry is that 1. If you use a MM to get over said curve then all other AT's might pale in comparison. and
2. MM's can be a bit tricky to get the hang of.
On MM's the 1st thing I do is create a goto macro.
Just type /macro go, petcom_all goto
Also, when you have the time. The guides section here is loaded with useful information.
Next, you'll want to right click on the follow button and edit it to be
follow defensive.
As for Secondaries I would suggest /Dark. It's an all around good set and will be able to do everything your looking for.
Out of the 3 Primes you listed:
Bots are ranged
Ninjas are all over the place
Demons... still to new to say. (I always avoid new sets for a few months so I don't get nerfed)
Bots will be amazing past level 32. But a recent bug has cropped up making ranged minions enter melee. A fix is in progress.
Ninjas have a reputation for being reckless. But with proper use of goto and passive this can be worked around and they have pretty good damage early on.
Demons are nasty at the moment. Nasty as in everyone looks at them and then feels the need for Cialis for their own character's performance anxiety.
I'm sure specific builds and what not can be provided for you but I urge you to experiment first.
This game is all about the journey to 50 and your not penalized for making numerous characters.
EDIT: by learning curve I generally mean reaching level 20.

u may be right with learnin the game with a nother AT. but MM are the only on that realy call to me.. maby a tank(every other game i have played i always end up with the tanker class as my mian rather not do it agian)
p.s. sorry about the spellin just got off a 24 hour double shift(arg the pian..) and brain is/was a little foggy. thow i still dont spell perfect ill try and do a little beter and makin it readble.
For a new mastermind, there isn't anything as sturdy, manageable, and still has great end game and hard content potential as a Robots/Dark miasma mastermind. The increase in difficulty in the game missions is matched well with the debuff and heal powers of Dark Miasma. Robots are resistant to lethal, so bullets don't bother them much.
Don't be afraid as others have said to try multiple MMs, even of Robots/Dark to get a feel for the power combinations. Bodyguard mode is something really important to be aware of out of the gate. Your pets have two components of their 'stance'. Direction has four aspects: Go to, stay, follow, and attack. The other part of stance is passive, defensive, or aggressive. To be in bodyguard mode, your pets must be in Go To/Defensive, Stay/Defensive or Follow/Defensive. When the pets are in bodyguard mode, any damage the mastermind receives is prorated between him and functioning minions.
So when you are in bodyguard mode, to minimize damage on the mastermind or a particular minion, the mastermind can initiate the battle with a power like twilight grasp, the first power in dark miasma that is a heal but also a hefty debuff. Your minions are much less likely to wander off when in bodyguard mode, and the mastermind has better control of the fight.
I don't want to flood with too much information at first, but this would be a good start for a beginner.

Why are you focusing so much on killing AVs when you've just started? MM is fairly complicated but if you learn it well it's also a fairly safe AT - Bodyguard mode combined with good mitigation makes a very tough character.
You should try other ATS at least up to the mid 20s, if not the 30s. I think perhaps with the feel of "oohh my pet does everything for me!" you're feeling more powerful on a low level MM than on other ATs. MMs are quite powerful, but pets end up becoming pretty squishy, needing high DEF to stay alive, and even so that is why tankerminding has gained such popularity.
You can't get a good feel for an AT when you only have two, three, four powers available. I do suggest trying others out, even if they don't appeal to you at first (never thought I'd like controller)
I'm not as sure about /Dark to start with. It's very powerful but for a new player, missing with the Twilight Grasp, with its neutered MM radius, while not having the tactical knowhow/situational awareness to handle a fight can be the end of you. Using an anchoring toggle can be frustrating when you don't know what enemy to put it on (this can obviously be learned, and guides give help on it)... I don't know, dark is a pretty complicated start as it does a bit of everything. Although you might reap the most from it in the end, and it does let you learn...
On second thought /dark might not be so bad just because it IS complicated. Sure you'll screw up sometimes, but especially in Praetoria currently teams are so fast and frequent you'll have plenty of tries to get it right (hopefully). I WAS going to suggest /Thermal as it's a bit easier, heals don't miss, it has shields for you to learn to be a "team player" with, it ends with decent debuffs....
Thermal does have nice heals, shields, and buffs. I think it is far busier than dark. Fortunately even a new player only has to 'learn' one dark power at a time, and dark does go very well with Robots. I am weird, in the current situation, I mostly take my dark 'click' powers first and take the toggles after stamina. With the upcoming update by making the fitness pool inherent, even an old 75 mo. vet like me will have to relearn leveling and slotting in the early levels with the new twist of having 3 otherwise unavailable powers.

if you want to solo avs you prob want to go dark or poison
Killing AV isnt a must for first MM. i can make a new one l8tr for that.
so with the /thermal team buff idea sound good.
so a bot/thermal looks like a good start(it has some debuffs for regen/recovery) so i can atleast try the fine art of AV soloing with him before makin a MM made purely for that.
so i attempt a bot/therm on mids i am hapy with it. tryed goin S/L def but could not get it past 31% so when for ranged 41.7% seem like a good roung number. i know this build cost billions. its more of a goal to try and get to.
if anything has a build that wood work beter for lvlin up poor plz do post it. i figer the lvl 1-20 gap is solid enof(yes i am stam i know i19 drops the need for it but i19 could come out tomorrow it could coem out next month..)

I'm a relatively long time player (42 months on and off since 3 months after launch) and have around 8 or 9 (lost count) lvl 50s (scrappers and brutes). I'm new to the MM club but I had tried a Bots/Dark right after CoV launched. I got him to lvl 22/23 and ended up deleting him because I wasn't having fun. I have not kept track of all the changes made to Bots, /Dark and MMs in general since that time but I just wanted to mention that I had tried them in the past.
Anyway, I rolled up a Bots/FF a few weeks ago and this time around, I'm finding MMs much more enjoyable. For me, that combo was easy to level up (lvl 34 so far) and felt like a good starting build to help me learn the AT better.
Over the weekend, I got DS fever (sorry, I love 'em) and rolled up a DS/Thermal and DS/Dark which I've been leveling in parallel. Why? Well, I liked them both and so far, they both feel very different to me.
My point is I found Bots/FF to be easy to work with. I don't mind maintaining the bubbles on the bots and find the /FF secondary very straightforward. A defense based secondary just feels easier to me, as far as getting my feet wet with the AT itself.

This. I have a level 50 bots/ff and it's great. While some folks declaim the combo as "boring" it's very strong and easy to get a hold of. Great for starting out.
My opinion: Mids is like AV killing. No need for you to worry about all that stuff just starting out. Go with feels fun to you.
Macros: All you really need to start is the three default macros in your tray. Start with those. Modify the "Follow" one by right clicking on it, select "Edit" and change the text so it says "Def" instead of "Aggressive". Bingo, your first custom macro, it gives you bodyguard mode, and it's all you probably need until level 20 or later.
BTW, I'm also finding /Thermal as easy to work with as /FF though /FF still takes the cake in survivability for me.
well after goofin off with a few toon on a trail(all the gamestop in the greater calgary area were sold out for a week)
i realy like the idea of master mind.
my goals/plan are
- good in a team play
-start of in new zone then goin hero.. (limited to hero side patron powers)
- be able to solo AV(not needed can be done with 2nd MM once i know the class beter)
-good dam and can take alot of dam also
atm i like bots/ninja/demon as mian
2ndary i am a little lost. i was thinkin dark. but thare may be on nother option
what are some good macros to use to start out and how do i enter them >_<(a total noob... took me 4 days tell i fowed a random 1 line sentece on the combat atribute stuff l)
for my lvlin up but sence i do plan to go semi tankminder for AV killin do i need taut lvlin up or can i put it off for my 2nd build sence ill be poor lvlin up and me takin dam is probly a bad idea for a long time.
