Characters not deleting - Guardian Server

welcome to the forums. first thing to do is go back in game and use a /bug report. you will have to do this from a different server. just let them know which server is having the problem. /petition really won't do anything. and being a weekend, it may take a few days for customer support to get back to you. i wouldn't expect a /bug report response an earlier then tuesday either as it is a holiday weekend. make sure you have all the updates and verify all files before trying to log into the game. it may help, it may not. but it is something to try in the mean time.
edit: also, try to search first to see if there are any other threads started about this. as long as the last post in them is not more then 3 months old, you can post in there.

I have the same issue, also on Guardian. Sent a support ticket over 2 days ago now. Haven't been able to make a new toon since then.

P.S. you are a new forum user, soon you will be told by the friendly people here that you are not allowed to make a thread that has previously been made for same topic! Ignore them, unless their name is in red letters and tells you can't! (a Moderator) Just some friendly advise!

well, i have some toons i made on guardian and just tried to delete one and it deleted. i then tried another, and it deleted also. so again, go through the updater to get into the game. before you do, try verifying all files. then when you choose your server, try deleting the toon again and see what happens. if nothing happens and you have already sent in a ticket to NC support, use the report to get in touch with them. if you haven't sent in a /petition, log onto another server and send one with the server and name of the toon you want deleted. it is a holiday weekend so you may not get a response right away.
edit: went back to try something. when i got back on the game the toon was still gone. after logging in another toon and logging out and going back to guardian server, the ghost was there. so disregard the first part of my post about the toon being deleted but follow what i have suggested doing.
edit2: also what you can do if your server slots aren't full is get some more. that way you can play on thta server until they figure it out. or just play on another server for now.
I can make and delete new characters how ever I can not delete older characters on guardian that are at least around 5 months old.
Also as Sharker_Quint said earlier, we do like to keep all relevant topics together in as few threads as possible to show the moderators how many people are active about this problem instead of diluting it with multiple threads. The mods usually delete duplicated threads of a common problem.
Keep in mind you most likely wont see a responce from a moderator. If one were to respond it most likely wont be earlier then Tuesday due to the 3 day holiday this week. I believe this will include all tech support. NCsoft doesnt encourage 7 days a week tech service, even though the servers are up 24/7/7.
So it looks to be a Guardian problem and not server wide, unless someone can duplicate this on another server.

tried it on a couple others and they are not having the problem. that is with toons that haven't been logged in in over 2 yrs.

I myself have been having the same "ghost of deleted toons past" issue on Guardian as well. The name in the slot keeps coming back but the toon model itself is missing. I have also reported this as well and "Gabriel" from support had said I would be hearing from a member of Senior Customer Support. That was Friday afternoon, and I'm still waiting. So I guess with the holiday We'll have to wait till Tuesday. I have a couple more slots available and filled them up with dummy toons so that I could try and force the name to go away but it temporarily "opened" a locked slot that disappeared as soon as I deleted the dummy toons. It really is being stubborn! I hope they fix this soon because it's holding a name I been wanting to use and would be rather perturbed if I lost it.
I've just gone through this on Guardian as well, with a Praetorian I made shortly after GR launched. Same thing - name appears on the character select screen, but no image.
Also, I can't recycle the name, but it does not appear to be in use in-game.
Same issue here; also on Guardian.
Deleted an old unplayed lowbie (over 500 days offline and level 3, I figured he could go) and rolled up a new character. Played the new character to level 5 and then swapped characters for an ITF.
On the character select screen I see the deleted character's name still in the slot; clicking on the character gets nothing.
I haven't checked if the new character's name is available again... obviously I'm not too concerned about a lost level 5 character with maybe 10k influence to his name.

Well then, everyone with the problem.
- Open support tickets for the pseudo-deleted characters.
- /bug the problem including steps to reproduce it.
- PM Ocho or Mod 12 about this thread so he can show it to the right people.

I have the same problem and I've sent a bug report, which I'll be doing again. My worry is that one of the two names that are attached to these characters is not only a personal favorite, but a fairly easy name to come up with (as in, it's a typical superhero name and won't be hard for someone else to think of). I was deleting that character in order to remake him with a more appropriate power set (Electric Control/Kinetics).
Posting about this here to try to get some visability. Guardian server - Character deletion bug in progress. Cannot delete characters... I have put in a support ticket and not gotten any response whatsoever. Essentially I can't make any new characters until this is resolved.
Reboot the server already... fixed Liberty when this was happening!
