Guardian Cathedral of Pain Trials
For those of you who don't read patch notes or look to the Training Room patches for insight on what's cooking:
I read the patch notes last night and did mention it in channels. Not sure you were on Alpha. But yeah, I've just added my voice to the 'stupid plan' votes in that thread.
If awake I'll bring something but my debuffers are red side.

Count me in Alpha. I will be full hero by tonight's run, although I'm not sure if I'll have time to grab nukes the way Warburg has been for me as late.

Biggest Troll on the forums? I'll give you a hint:
Although it's easy to miss in all the drama in the patch thread, it seems pretty possible that the Nukes were removed due to an exploit.
As I said there: If that's the case, that's a fair reson to remove them. However, if they hadn't made it so stupid hard in the first place, there probably never would have been a Nuke Exploit...

Well I have a good idea what that exploit might be: get a perfectly balanced pre-built raid team where everyone has all 3 nukes, coordinate using Vent and slaughter Rularuu in 30 seconds.
|
Which is exactly what WoW players do in raids....you know to actually get them done...
GG Devs, let's make the CoP a wasteland like PvP areas.

I'm not sure what the exploit was -- or even if there WAS an exploit.
Teams have failed before, many times, despite dropping nukes on Rularuu.
Nukes are not the end-all solution, they never were.
If three teams could coordinate closely enough -- with Nukes -- they could defeat Rularuu.
But -- as Mrs. Alpha One says -- isn't that the point? Close coordination and intense focus results in triumph?
The question now is -- without Nukes -- how must our CoP Strategy change to still win?

1) use voice communications for closer coordination
2) require very specific ATs and builds to balance the team
I know some large, well organized veteran SGs have completed it without any temps. I was using nukes and other temps as a crutch, basically to see if what essentially amounts to a PUG was able to do it. Without nukes I'll basically have my crutch removed before even being able to walk.
Can I repeat my suggestion that if we get past the Obelisks and the AV is Storm we reset and reform automatically? Far as I can see the only thing not getting KB to the next zone was the stone tank. Presumably too many cookies.
Sorry we couldn't get it. I'm off to bed again. Gnight.

Shoot on sight, please.
No KB for me. Integration FTW.

We are not in the kind of situation where we're beating this regularly, and we can look at the Storm aspect and say, oh ho -- more of a challenge!
No, we're in the situation (or at least the Saturday team is) where despite our best collective efforts over several weeks and runs, we aren't winning against ANY of the aspects.
Right now, despite some of the most experienced veterans and most powerful toons in the game participating in this effort -- even WITH nukes being dropped -- it's been one brutal, frustrating team wipe after team wipe, with our forces all struggling ineffectually against a towering monster with sky-high regen and a limited attack window through his shields.
So I'm of a like mind on this. Until we all get this down and can regularly win against at least one if not all of the other Elemental aspects, CoP Trial teams should probably reset if they run into the Storm Aspect.
Especially now that we can't use Warburg nukes in the CoP.

The no Warburg nuke nonsense hasn't gone live as far as I know.
My reasoning when I suggested reforming as soon as I saw the stormy was this:
1) The last team I was on went against a stormy and it didn't go well. Not just a little bit of something required but a categorical not-a-chance despite nukes, IOd chars and players who can TF with their eyes shut.
2) If we go against the stormy and fail, we use all the temp powers and then re-form with nothing. Better to give it up and restart with our nukes/shivs etc.
3) While every damage dealer is on their backs/flipping in place, they aren't dealing damage and Rularuu is regening. He has enough HP/regen as it is; losing any damage is just something we can't afford.
My 2p.

Muuuuu! I have not piped in here for a long time >_> I don't know how useful a suggestion like this will be, but with the AV's insane regeneration, I thought it wouldn't hurt. There is a handy dandy new crafted power called Envenomed Dagger that might be useful.
You get 30 charges with them, and they have a quick recharge. The best part being the -250% regeneration on them that last 10 seconds. Now, that might not be much for a single attacker, but if you have 24 people chucking these things at a single target, it dwarfs most other -regen powers you could hope for.
Muh, any which way, just my random idea. It's the power I am picking up for my teams without built in -regen for when I hunt AVs, so I thought I would share my stupid idea. If anything, they are cheap as hell on the market, like all the other new temp powers. Couldn't hurt to try?
I can see forever 0.0
Okay, Vent is a good idea, but in situations when it can't be configured for 24 people together, I would recommend team leaders to have binds for instant messaging for team commands. Commands like "Buff now" "Attack" "Hold" and so forth. One button, one command. I've seen it used in Beta, so it shouldn't be hard to do.
Plus, I would recommend asking people to sign up on the forums for the scheduled event and have global/toon AT and powers signed up so the organizers can set up the teams. Trying to organize the way it was organized tonight seemed a little on the fly.

For the Friday Night CoP Attempts*, I offer the gift of Voiced Coordination.
The Ravenwolf Manor Vent Server is a 25-slot Vent complete with "Cathedral of Pain" channel and "Guardian Public" channels. Feel free to register according to the details at the link, or come in as a guest.
You can also [/chanjoin "Ravenwolf Manor"] in game for our global network that strives to bring people together for any avenue of entertainment in CoH such as TFs, Mish Team, socializing with friends, Badging and more.
*(Friday Nights I can schedule the Vent to be active for CoP participants. If the community decides that they would use the vent more than Fridays, I could always up the slots in the future.)
I'll also throw my hat in that if Stormy shows up to party, we reset.
I also begged my WoW guild if we can ride on theirs but it looks like we won't have to Thanks Shadow

RIMC's base is now raid ready, so expect a call-to-arms Redside in the near future. I ran a couple quick experiments with my VGmates and an issue has popped up. There doesn't seem to be any way to reset the raid. There's no way to cancel or abandon it and even if one person starts it and never enters the raid the timer continues on. So if we want to reset on the storm aspect, we need to figure out how or even if it's possible.
I'm already a Vigilante on Shadow. If we can't get the Hero runs to work, then I'll just toss Super Leader of The Wolf Pack Elite to an alt and go full on Villain.
Just a friendly reminder that our next run is Friday September 17th @ 9:00pm EST start time (form up @ 8:30pm) hosted by The Arbitrators. Anyone interested in signing up pls let me know soonest so I can fit you in.
