"Fog of War" bug is back with access to more zones

I've noticed this on a few toons, and I'm pretty sure it's going to be the very last 4 or 5 zones you visit that will always reset to black/grey. (For example, every villain zone below St. Martial for my Defender.) Reports are going to be a little different for everyone. (So it's not specifically Nerva or Grandville or Peregrin that's the issue.)

And I send a /bug about it pretty much every day, heh.

Same here, un-fogged all blue-side zones and after a few red-side, [Reveal] simply resets the FoW to the original configuration.

The OCD in me hopes very much for a solution to this bug sooner rather than later.

As a GIS professional, I would find such functionality in the game awesome.

I agree that once you have uncovered the map it should stay uncovered.

Ah, so that's what it is! Thanks for explaining it Turgy! It was doing my head in.
My undercover Hero cannot keep Nerva, GV and some others red side I can't remember now uncovered (he previously couldn't keep any of the SS maps open, but that doesn't bother me much as I hardly go there).

So far my bicurious Villain has only had problems with the SS maps and has all of the "regular" blue zones uncovered.

What is also doing my head in is the fact that my newly acquired Reveal power not only does not work in the SS as it also resets any portion of the map I may have uncovered up to the point I use it.

Needless to say, petitions have been issued.

PS - Loved the OCD pic. It actually made me LOL.

I'm not sure if anyone else is having an issue with there "Reveal" veterans power, but so far as a vigilante in the rogue isles instead of revealing my maps its doing the complete opposite... I haven't checked on any rogues, but Im assuming it does for rogues in paragon... I've yet to check if it changes if the toon completes there alignment to the otherside... Is issue being looked in to... I know I havn't read all the posts, but just wanted to know if I was the only one with this problem??

That is true, but goes for most of the content of a game. You could ditch exploration badges for the same reason, twisting plots, dialog, story, ... everything is on the internet.

Which is likely why intact city zones blue side have their whole maps visible from the start.

And you can set nav points. There is your GPS.

(And before someone mentions "But you could see how the places LOOK on google earth!" : Even if Nemesis or the Rikti or whoever did not blow up or steal or corrupt the video satellites, know that some of google earth's pictures in our world are many years old too. Wouldnt help in hazard zones. )

Besides, I think CoX still goes as an MMORPG. And I like the RPG in that.

That's the case for me. My character skipped the Hero tutorial zone (Outbreak) but visited the old Rikti Crash Site, which is not in his list.

I don't remember about all villains maps, but for my hero turned villain the following maps are definitely in "Fog of War": PO, Nerva, GV.

For my villain turned hero all maps in Shadow Shard, except of FBZ are black.

I have a hero gone bad who retains revealed FoW for some of the zones.

I will say, this incarnation of this bug is better than the original one. In the original one, as you visited new zones, previously revealed ones would be forgotten. So you could go back to some zone you hadn't been to in a long time and find its maps "re-fogged".

The new incarnation just seems to max out and refuse to remember new zones above the storage maximum. It's still annoying, but I much prefer what it's doing now to what it did before.

Oh, it gets even better. My scrapper gone villain has the villain zones 'fogged' again every time he logs in. So, one day, I figured I'd use the Reveal vet power to clear the map at least temporarily.

Not only did the Reveal power NOT clear the fog of war, it RESTORED the fog on the areas I had cleared just minutes earlier. um... lolwut?

Heh. That makes me glad I don't use that power. When I got it I was all like "cool!" Then I realized I liked knowing where I haven't been in most places (even outdoors sometimes), and almost never use it as a result. The Shadow Shard is, I think, the only exception so far.
