Mark Grambau's Elegant Superhero Silhouette Posters [Art]

It's rather lazy to draw an outline of something and then call it art. I can use the "Auto-Fill" option on MS Paint and call it art, then.

If it isn't on the right side of the uncanny valley, it isn't art.

Those aren't silhouettes.

Agreed. They're just highly stylized. Still cool-looking, though.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

This me ignoring you and carrying on.

That art is gorgeous and I love it in ways I can't easily explain. Rarely do I decorate my walls, but I want these on them. I admire unique projects like this, especially as popular continues to drive towards the narrow minded and myopic idea that looking "the most life-like" is best. In years, "good graphics" will be outdated. But people don't talk about Majora's Mask's presentation anymore: They discuss Wind Waker.

Admiration.

People call what Liefeld does "Art", and yet these are far better then anything Liefeld could do. Therefore, they are art.

Only idiots do. Anyone who's finished high school should be aware that the purpose of art is to show truth, not perception. This even goes for Naturalists who claim to only portray what is there, though it's obviously more clearly seen with more abstract art styles, Cubism probably being the most direct example.

Are we bordering on starting an art thread?

Pff...art doesn't show truth. Its goal is to present a myriad of perceptions in order to expose the limitations of our own perceptions. Art never shows truth, just exposes how frail or untrue our own beliefs can be. By default, art must be interpreted by not simply being of the object itself. Only rare instances of art can be considered of itself (found art), and only then to destabilise set definitions of what is art (i.e. to make a point about the fluidity of art) by engendering artistic context into an object that really shouldn't have any.

He should do a line of B-,C-, and D-list heroes as well, along with their own less iconic and more laughable would-be catch phrases.

I was thinking, "It's 5 o'clock somewhere."

I like the artwork that's on there. Granted, it's not bombastic, nor is it terribly detailed... however it does simplify what the characters are about. That's what is interesting about it. You get to the core of what the subject is about and then show it off. That's art to me.

My two cents...

Best to all... Jim

Some of it is decent... others, not so much.
I guarantee most of those took less than 20 minutes to create.

Is it still art? Yeah. Extremely easy art, but art none the less.
