Searching through the back-to-school editions of store ads usually has some decent deals on games and movies... but I came across this on Page 16 of Sunday's Best Buy ad:

City of Heroes: Going Rogue (Includes City of Heroes, City of Villian and Going Rogue).

$29.99, Save $10. Reg. Price $39.99.

EDIT: Link!

RE-EDIT: Removed snarky comment. I'm inherently snarky! Sorry!

Thank you, City of Heroes, for giving me a superhero social network combined with amazingly smooth game play. Petitions signed with realistic expectations.

No problem I'll edit my post as well. no harm no foul.

Edit: I had just finished reading the doom post below and didn't get the snark up here. Oh well these things happen.

No worries. I saw that post about the financials. Most of us know not to panic over numbers like that. I am curious about the Going Rogue quarter's numbers and only wish Paragon Studios the best.

I now have to decide on going through with my Gamestop preorder for the mini-IOs or saving $10...

Now I'm torn... My Amazon order is $40 with free same-day delivery (8/17). Best Buy is $30 with free shipping, but it could take up to a week to get here and I don't have any Best Buys near here for pick-up.
Anyone know of some other sales going on for this?

I was going to go for the Gamestop with the enhancements but I guess those were only for pre-orders and now I'd have to have it shipped to my house (it won't let me pre-order now with an in-store pick up option). And delivery for the 17th is $10.00. I thought the enhancements were available just for buying through Gamestop but I guess not. My mistake.

So do I pay $49.99 to Gamestop for the enhancements (and mouse pad I'd never use) or $29.99 to Best Buy? I like the enhancements but not for $20.00.

You never know Amazon just might price match. Funny thing is Fry's will more than likely price match Best Buy. Funnier even still, is some idiot at work put them out on the shelf last week. I found them before the store opened and yanked them. Got questioned as to why I took them down. Told the MT the game goes live on the 8/17 and it's no good to sell it till then, cause the customer won't be able to play till then, even if the system lets you purchase it now. This all happen back on Thursday.

I just bought GR through Best Buy. I figured for $30 it was a heck of a lot better deal (for the physical package) than anything else I've seen so far.

I've waited this long for GR, I can wait another week for it to ship to me. Patience is a virtue, especially when you're cheap like I am.

I'd pay $20 for the enhancements and a mouse pad, but nooo....

They're just level 20 quality damage enhancements with a damage proc. I wouldn't pay $1 for them. I wouldn't actually use the mouse pad either.

Well, they're technically Damage/Recharge level 20 IOs with procs that you can slot at level 1. And, of course, they stop proc'ing when you hit level 21.

As for the BB deal: Sold! $39.99 - $10 - $15 - $6.99? Going Rogue for $8 is nice.

What's the $6.99 deduct?

Guess I'm gonna go pick up GR when I go pick up my new laptop/mouse/cables...today or tomorrow.
What's $30 to $730 anyways? >_<

Nublet question: Does GR come with installation discs, or should I just DL the updater?

The GR Complete Collection box will come with an installation DVD. You'll probably still need to download a small patch once you install it though, but it'll be far smaller than trying to download the entire client.

I'm assuming this is for bolth CoH/Cov, along with GR, seeing as it's an expansion!

Mucho grazie!

Correct. CoH/CoV/GR all use the exact same client to access the exact same servers.

For note, if you went out right now and found an unopened CoV box and gave it to a friend, they'd be able to install it, use the code and then (after they patched up to being current) would be able to play CoH and CoV. The games merged a while back.

And even if someone never bought GR, they'd still have the GR assets on their computer. It's just that their account isn't flagged to have access to Praetoria and all. Once they do flag their account (by buying GR), they'd be able to play there without having to download anything extra.
