1.Description. No purchase is necessary to enter. All times mentioned hereafter are Pacific Time U.S (PT). The ZAM City of Heroes Character Creation Sweeps (Sweepstakes) will begin at 12:00 AM on Monday, August 2nd, 2010 and continue until 11:59 PM on Sunday, August 15th, 2010. The Contest is being sponsored by ZAM (Sponsor).
2.How to Enter. You must register for a ZAM account at https://secure.zam.com/login.html?action=new and be logged into your account. Prizes are awarded via drawing. The cutoff for entries for a particular drawing is 11:59 PM on the day prior to the drawing. There is only one entry per household. You accumulate entries as follows: The entrant must enter their First Name, Last Name, Address, E-mail address and Birthday into the sign up form on the contest page and submit their entry. Note that only those who submit a hand drawing of their City of Heroes character are eligible for the Grand Prize. The winners are chosen at random from all ZAM users who submit the completed form. ZAM assumes no responsibility for lost, misdirected or late entries or entries containing incorrect or incomplete information.
3.Disqualifications. ZAM reserves the right to disqualify anyone from the contest for any reason at their sole discretion. Those who are disqualified will not be allowed to post comments on the site and will be disqualified from all subsequent prize drawings. Those who spam in order to gain entries will be disqualified. Entries made by bots or other automatic means will be disqualified.
4.Eligibility. The contest is open to legal residents of all 48 contiguous states plus the District of Columbia of the United States of America who are over 18 years of age. Anyone who is, or has been within the last 6 months, an Employee or consultant of NC Soft, Dell/Alienware, Gunnar, Cyborg Gaming ZAM or any affiliated sites is not eligible to win. Immediate family and household members of such individuals are also not eligible to win. Moderators, Editors, or Bloggers for ZAM are not eligible to win. Prizes will only be shipped to addresses within the 48 contiguous U.S. states and if your name is drawn, you must provide a name and address within the U.S. for shipping or be disqualified. In order to be eligible for the Grand Prize, contestants must submit a picture of a super hero or villain of their choosing. The character should be an original of the contestantÂ’s own creation. The image must either be in jpg or png format.
5.Winner Selection. Raffle winners (Daily Prize winners) will be selected one per day for the first six (6) days of the contest. Raffle winners are based upon all correct entries received between 12:00 AM on the day before the drawing takes place and 11:59 PM the day before the drawing takes place. A First Prize winner will be selected at random from contestants submitting entries on the first Sunday of the contest after opening on Sunday, August 8th at 12:00 AM and after closing on Sunday, August 8th, at 11:59 PM. From the next day, Monday, August 9th until Saturday, August 14th, additional raffle winners (Daily Prize winners) will be selected one per day for those six (6) days of the contest. Raffle winners are based upon all correct entries received between 12:00 AM on the day before the drawing takes place and 11:59 PM the day before the drawing takes place. A Grand Prize winner will be chosen at random on the last day of the contest from all completed entries received throughout the duration of the contest. In order to be eligible for the Grand Prize, contestants must submit an image of a hero or villain. Winners of the daily raffle are no longer eligible to receive another daily prize, however, they are still eligible for the Grand Prize.
6.Winner Notification. When your name is drawn, notification will be posted http://www.zam.com/contests/goingrogue.html using your site user name. You will also be notified via e-mail at the e-mail address attached to your ZAM account. Also not eligible. But those who are, get in there! There is no excuse for failing to draw something for the seppolotto. The prizes are definitely worth your effort here.

hahaha my friends linked me to this and were like "nooo don't share with your art friend you might have a chance of winning " im horrid at following directions :P

Can I make a drawing and have someone enter it for me, and then get the laptop? lol j/k

Posted

I was just joking, I'm ineligible living in Canada. Not that I would win... ya'll have fun!

I posted something up but I had to chuckle a bit when I saw the other entries. Almost half of them aren't even possible to make in the the CC. One entry is a floating eyeball for grape's sake.
I think one might be a photograph/manip rather than a "hand drawn" piece.

Oh well I suppose it's neither here nor there, good luck everyone who entered and Thankyou Deebs for... you know... not following directions.

LOL... I entered but didn't even think about telling/not telling anyone. I figured Zam.com gets enough traffic that the odds aren't in my favor whether it's 1:40 or 1:80.

Supposedly, the frst couple days of drawings should be done but they have yet to post any winners for either of them so get yourself entered and maybe you'll get lucky. Zam.com has, in my limited experience, a bothersome time running contests by their own rules.

NV - assault with fine print is a crime where I come from!!

FD - Hey, wasn't me! I just said I saw familiar faces in who didn't tip us off, I'm not one of them!! (despite it being random and a stick figure scribble having a chance, I'm still too lazy to bother.)

LJ - in unity and support of you and airhead, I'm taking a stand and boycotting this contest until they let Canucks and other aliens enter!!! (that lazy thing was just a joke... Yeah, that's it!)

btw - wtheck is Zam.com? (I live such a sheltered o line life...)

has anyone sent in a picture and has not had it show up on the gallery?

It was originally *the* Everquest site back when EQ was the 800lb gorilla of MMORPGs. Since then, it's branched into other MMORPGs such as FFXI and WoW and acquired various other properties such as data collectors and databases regarding the games it covers.

Short version is just that it's a big MMORPG site. They never really did City of Heroes with any focus because CoH's format doesn't really play into the whole "How do I complete this quest?" and "What swords would be an upgrade for my paladin?" sort of thing.

So you are saying it was Allakhazam ... ah .. that one I know ...

Yeah, back when (the original) Allakhazam sold the site to some other group, they changed it over to Zam.com.

I'm curious about this myself. When I go to submit something in the upload box, it only takes me to a blank page with no confirmation or anything of my submission. Any clues as to what the proper steps are?

The Guide to BURN

Yeah I do.
Step#1... don't enter so I can haz bettah oddz of winneh teh stuffz...

errr I mean...

You will first need to have to create a ZAM account and sign in or the steps below will not work... so go do that here n' stuff.

Then goto the contest page here.
Hit the red enter now button
from the window that opens click the upload (think that's what it was called)button
then click browse and locate the picture you want to enter on your pc.
Click ok/upload

The new screen you go to will have slide rulers for you to adjust the size of your pic
the top window is the adjustable one that actually contains your image and the bottom window is the preview frame so you can see your changes.
You will need to stretch, shrink or adjust your pic fit inside the border of the green frame.
When it looks correct in the bottom frame give it a title and add any notes you want up top, hit next/yes/accept or whatever the affirmative button is called.
When it comes back to the contest page hit enter now again and you will see a miniature thumbnail of the pic you uploaded in the small window that opens
Fill in your name email etc... hit the submit button.
When you go back to the gallery the pic will not be there as the server takes about 3-5 minutes to update.
Wait a few minutes then hit f5 on your keyboard to tell the server to send you the most recent updated page and your pic will now be in the gallery.

Good luck to you all.

I see what the problem is. You have to make an account *before* you try to submit the picture. If you don't, the picture won't upload and it takes you to a blank screen instead. Worse yet, if you submit your entry in like that, it'll lock you out from your email address with an incorrect entry, so you'll have to use an entirely different address for the next one.

Whomever designed that site really needs lessons on user interface. :<

Oh right that makes sense. I already had an account which I used to post in the thread about the contest and thought you guys had one already as well. I just thought there was a problem with the submission part of it... that part isn't very straightforward either.
Added a note to the instructions above.
