Got Hacked >:(
As i discovered last week, my plaync master account has indeed been 'hacked' or a variation of. My password and contact email have been changed, though this isnt the strangest part. |
I receieved an email on July 27 (the day i attempted to access the account) to my very old email address (one im certainly sure was not affiliated to my plaync account) regarding in game currency transaction.... on Aion? i have never even contemplated purchasing an aion account. |
So my plaync account is tied to this unused email address, but my password retrieval isn't? As usual Plaync have seemed to ignore my support email. |
Hope your all well... good to be back to such an awesome community... |
There have been a large number of email phishing scams going for Aion, and people who have never had an Aion account have been known to get these emails (the people sending them out don't know if you do or not, and are taking a chance that you might). If you're sure that address was never tied to your PlayNC account, chances are you're right that it wasn't, and the email was a phishing attempt. Never follow the links from these emails, -especially- if they're asking for account information. NCSoft will never ask you for your account information in an email.
Also, Support may not be ignoring your ticket (provided that you put one in, rather than just emailing them), there just may not be anyone of sufficient authority in over the weekend to help you, these cases often require that the ticket be escalated to a senior rep. Update your ticket to keep it open, and a senior rep will get to you as soon as one is available. If you haven't yet put in a ticket, you can submit one here.

Paragon City Search And Rescue
The Mentor Project
Having extremely recently just experienced this, here is the info that they will want from you to verify your account. Also, although you will want to submit a help ticket my experience is that you need to call before you'll get a response. They want to talk to a person, usually, to verify that you are indeed the holder of the account.
-- What first and last name did you use when you created the account?
-- What physical address did you use when you created the account?
-- What date of birth did you use when you created the account?
-- What are the 20/25-digit serial codes/access keys for all games you added to the account?
-- What is the Unique Account ID for all the game accounts you added to the account? (This was sent to you via e-mail on the date your game account was activated with a subject header of 'Game Account Activated'.)
-- Original billing information: If activated using a credit/debit card, please provide the last 4 digits of the credit card used. If activated using a game time card, please provide the 20-digit game time card code used to activate the account. If activated using PayPal®, please provide the Transaction ID or the Invoice ID associated with the original activation purchase.
Billing and Technical Support can be reached via phone,
Monday - Friday, 12pm - 5pm Central at (512) 225-6359.
I would call them first thing they open on Monday (if you can) and just get in the call queue and have that info ready.
Monday might be holiday, no?

Don't email, call them. When I had my account hacked (my first indication was the banning, so the hacker couldn't do too much damage to my characters) I was told they usually wait for the player to call and don't respond to email incase it got hacked too. And make sure you have something that confirms its your account when you do, best bet is one of the game codes you used on your account. |

Actually just kidding, but couldn't help myself, hehe. I tend to have this problem with a lack of restraint sometimes. Welcome back and good luck getting things squared away with CS!
Cheers mate!
Good luck man! Here's hoping for the best!
To add to this oddity:
I have never had phishing attempts in the name of NC... I recently installed and started playing again.. Not even 48 hours later I was getting spammed with these phishing email scams.
Now I know better than to click the links....if i am required to visit my account for anything I use the launcher to get there...never an email link. Lesson learned via Blizzard games.
I wonder if they (the scam artists) is somehow grabbing basic info *like our emails* to send us this crap as we start up accounts at NC.
As odd as this sounds...I find this very suspicious. I don't visit fan sites or anything related to NC games from my home PC. That I do on my breaks at work. So there is no way in hell I indicated to these scammers I was actively in a NC game...
The only suspect is the NC home page itself.
I have to admit, I wasn't thrilled when these forum logins became the same as our game log in. I like having different passwords for everything and linking the two doesn't seem the best plan.*

Ill give it another shot tonight
Okay first off. DO NOT EVER use a link given to you through e-mail to access the PlayNC site.
Second, if you did, and tried to log into the PlayNC account, of COURSE you aren't going to get in. On the "bright side", a bunch of thieves have now harvested your account information for you!
You want to go to:
https://secure.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/plaync_login.pl
And try to log in.
If you can get in, CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD IMMEDIATELY. Don't simply give it the same password with a couple extra letters. Completely new password. PERIOD.
If you cannot get in to your PlayNC account, you're going to have to call NCSoft support. Have the number of the credit card you initially registered the account to handy. They'll want to use that as a form of verification. Also if you have your global, and know the name of a couple toons on the account and which servers they reside on.

Im Back
My husband got something like this from Blizzard (UGH!) We have never had a Blizzarg account, have never played WoW not even the trial. So we knew it was just a phishing site. Never EVER click on anything in these emails, just try to send them them to the home companies spam collector emails (don't know what else to call them). And if they want they can investigate it themselves

Hey guys;
I am back to CoH/V from a break of about 6 months.
I have been playing on and off for about three years now, and have only stopped for reasons relating to uni/school ect.
As i discovered last week, my plaync master account has indeed been 'hacked' or a variation of.
My password and contact email have been changed, though this isnt the strangest part.
I receieved an email on July 27 (the day i attempted to access the account) to my very old email address (one im certainly sure was not affiliated to my plaync account) regarding in game currency transaction.... on Aion?

As usual Plaync have seemed to ignore my support email.
Has anyone experienced this ever happening?
My old global handles (for those interested) were:
toasted-bagel, toastimusprime, toast7989, toasty
and was frequently on liberty with 'Impulsive Flames'
Thanks for boring your life with reading this!
Hope your all well... good to be back to such an awesome community...
