Feeling Guilty for using Snow Storm while on Teams
One can lower the particle count setting on their own computer to tone this effect down. That said, I rather doubt anyone would be all that upset if the devs toned it down a bit on their end so that people wouldn't have to lose all the pretty particle effects on everything else while they were trying to compensate for this particular power.
Be well, people of CoH.
Have you tried customising it?
Oh how annoying.
People reporting that Snow Storm makes it hard to see need to stop playing the game in first-person view and zoom out a bit.

Maybe I'm just evil, but on the Plant/Storm Controller I've been playing most often lately, my motto has been "If your video card isn't crying, I'm not doing it right." Snow Storm alone is no match for Snow Storm, Tornado, absolute masses of Carrion Creeper vines, Lightning Storm, Freezing Rain, Spirit Tree, and Hurricane all going at the same time as the mobs fire off whatever pyrotechnics they have at each other, courtesy of Seeds of Confusion. Oh, and with so many Roots and Strangler vines that it can be hard to tell how many enemies are actually still alive in that mess. Heck, half the time I have trouble seeing what's going on.
Teammates mostly put up with it since everything in my pet maelstrom is firmly under control, dying before the second bounce, or some combination of both
To respond to your question more directly, eh, save your endurance. If you need things slowed down as a panic button, I doubt anybody's going to be complaining about being unable to see when the things they can't see are killing them slower.

yes, once you get the option of changing the colors, make both colors on the color palettes the darkest grey. That'll really tone it down.

I think I saw something about this in the defender forums. The ancillary for the blaster uses an old animation that they eventually fixed for defenders, controllers, et al, if I recall correctly. If it's the same as the current defender version, they are going to have to deal with it until you can recolor your epic powers.

If I wouldn't ignore stuff like that I couldn't use half of the powers in this game -.-
I got to thinking about this while being on this morning with my level 48 Ice/Ice Blaster with Cold Mastery for her Ancillary Powerset. I picked up Snow Storm as one toggle power that I thought would be helpful in slowing down the enemies. So far it has worked like it should but while in team play, I have gotten a few "I can't see anything because the snow storm is so blinding white" replies. This has happened a few times so far while in team play. Though, no one has told me to turn it off, I almost feel somewhat guilty every time I would use it in team play. I say team play because when I do use it solo, I really have no issues with it other than it is blinding white and does somewhat hinder your vision a bit.
My thinking would be why have a power that would "hinder" your teammates visibility even though it is meant to slow down your foes attack and movement speeds? It would almost make someone not want to use it in team play. Maybe I need to drop this one in Suggestions and Ideas for the dev's to look at and maybe revamp the special effects of this power so it isn't so visually impairing? I know I can always respec out of this power and pick something else. Has anyone else encountered this with the power?
