I actually just started a Kin/Son a few days ago. Kin/ with anything will play like an offender. I considered /Ice because of Ice Storm's AoE - it would for sure bump up solo AoE damage by a ton, but then I remembered that spamming Howl will do a lot more AoE damage for the team through the -res.
Kin/Electric has some cool synergies.
1) You can effectively end drain with Short Circuit and Transference. Both of these will sap a boss in two shots and keep him that way until he falls.
2) Electric has no cones. Your AoEs both work at melee range, where you're getting your own heals, Fulcrums and end boosts.
3) Tesla Cage stops your healing anchor running off. This last one isn't unique to Elec, but it helps.
Kin/Sonic is excellent. More than any guide or build, though, the #1 thing you need is to learn how to joust. (If you don't know already.)
Kin/Elec doesn't need jousting, and is well suited to hovertankfending, thanks to Short Circuit's large radius. Tesla Cage, in addition to being a solid all-around hard mez, is a nasty recovery debuff for 10 seconds, same as Short Circuit's recovery debuff, ensuring an endurance drained boss stays really really drained, even if the hold doesn't stick.

kin/sonic for AV soloing
you could also just go cold.

I have played with a Dark/Elec Defender (Currently re-rolled into a Corruptor) and it dropped a entire mobs Endurance in 2 Shots.Nothing was capable of harming me.Even on a +2/8 man mission setting Solo.
Hasten and your self speed boosting power can allow for rather fast end droppage without sacrificing -recovery on your blasts.
I cant really see how itll be capable of Solo play until you get the Psi Epic, but on a team it wouldnt only Heal, SB, and FS.It would take the fight out of the mod in 2 hits....Litterally, and due to FS you wont slow down on damage either.
Just my opinion, but theres always more then 1 of those.Just about any Secondary will work with Kin/ on a Defender, provided you figure out how.
Iv got a Grav/Kin Controller.It does very well Solo and in team play.Theres almost nothing it cant handle.(So Far)

Kin/Archery is actually a damage machine once it gets rolling.
I would advise against Kin/blast set/Dark, as the big reason to go Dark APP is for Soul Drain. You should already be capping damage with Fulcrum Shift, so you won't really benefit from it. Also, Transference will be better for you than Dark Consumption. Though, if you were to get it anyway, Soul Transfer and Oppressive Gloom are always nice.

So if you did go with Kin/Dark, you could easly take the Electric Epic for Thunder Strike....Atleast I would anyhow.

I've played an archery/mental blaster and it outdamages my kin/archery (pre 50 even) with just build up and aim, even without using rain it seems.
Never tried a /sonic before, and in hindsight I'm not really sure why. I suppose I don't like having to run in and out of mobs, especially since I leveled the /dark. I'm almost done with a kin/rad def, and he has just been tons of fun, I imagine he plays a bit like electric, except without the fun secondaries that elec has.
And so I offer no votes or guides, only my perspective.
