Why I hate the new market interface
"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill

I just returned but the new market who ever designed the look and functionality bleh no offence but a monkey coulda done better.
I click bid it doesn't work, I click get inf it doesn't work, It's fugly, and I have to scroll alot more then neccesary. How many times am I suppose to click a button before the action that the button says its gonna do does it. Can you devs please make a button to makes classic mode appear, thank you. |
The market HAS been rather pokey and flaky this weekend. I started noticing the whole "take stuff...nah...not really!" lag-induced behavior Friday morning. This is probably the market server screaming for a reboot, a table rebuild and a defrag.
I am a marketeer and have been for a while. Before the new interface and after. I found that after actually using it vs a knee jerk "i hate this" reaction, I liked the new interface more because it found stuff easier and as soon as i learned how it worked properly, I actually preferred it. I say: GREAT JOB DEVS!
I would suggest be more patient. With the combined markets, I dont know if they will tweak the interface but you old interface button may appear. but maybe not.

By UI standards, I mean things like preselecting text in bid and price fields when they're prepopulated, putting the cursor in those fields when an item is selected, making the TAB key move between the bid and number of items fields, up/down arrows on the number of items field, etc. This would reduce the amount of mouse clicking and erroneous bids caused by people quickly entering a number when a number is already there (often making the bid or price hundreds or thousands of times greater than intended).
Another problem is that you drop an item on the market it should be selected and opened automatically, and the list should be scrolled so that it's visible. This was a problem in the original interface as well (which didn't scroll the window when you put stuff in the market).
These are all minor changes, but they'd really increase the usability of the market interface.

Probably just take time for me to adjust to the look and I hope the defrag the market or what ever in the next maitanence like Hyperstrike mentioned.
Still it would be nice to have a classic look for those of us that preferred it.
For 1 the market is all 1 server for it doesn't matter where you play.

I'm a heavy market user. I've had problems on Virtue, but never on Victory.
My postings to this forum are not to be used as data in any research study without my express written consent.
It's just flat out buggy, has cheated me out of about 20M so far, 14 of which I've got back via petition.
If you have a stack of salvage stored in your top market slot, and try to list an expensive enhancement in your last slot, you click the large liusting fee dialog box, check it that you don't want to see it again, and try to list the enhancement. At this point, some of the time you end up with 10 common salvage listed at 25M each swallowing a huge listing fee.
Also it drives me mad that you can't permanently get rid of the "useful salvage" warnings, every time you want to store stuff in WWs.
It's true. This game is NOT rocket surgery. - BillZBubba

Its already pointed out that market server lag and zone lag can be inextricably linked, but let me add that some of us do use the market as much as you, and dont have near as much hate for the new interface.
I have my list of things I would improve, but the implication that "a monkey could have done better" (OP) is objectionable at best and childish at the other end.
Enjoy your tantrum, hope you get your point across in spite of the language.
