Simple but game-altering suggestions

1. Increase the character description text limit from 1024 to 2048 or even 4096 characters, allowing for better, more in depth descriptions. INFO and ID panels would need scroll bars to handle the extra info.

2. Allow all costume pieces that have a secondary feature, such as ability to take a pattern, or 'special' patterns such as the enforcer pattern for the enforcer 'tight' armor to use a glow-map color the way the new costume from the mutant pack does, BUT, move 'glow-map' colors onto their own pop up panel, to use as an option. This additionally means persons using the new mutant pack could choose to use a normal or even muted or pastel color instead of a glowing color on their costume, should they so desire.

3. Allow slotting of ninja run, HOWEVER, keep it so that while ninja run is on, no other travel power can be used, AND, set it so that ninja run CANNOT be slotted EXCEPT at levels 31+, with a maximum of 6 slots. This would allow more creativity in builds by removing the need for other travel powers completely, but ensure that ONLY high level characters would be able to take advantage, which would remove the danger of having super jumping, super speeding, near invisible characters at low level. LASTLY, DOUBLE the endurance drain of ninja run.

4. Alternatively, ninja run could be moved to a new power pool, along with several new powers such as fast swim, whirlwind (move from the speed set), and 'blink', which would be an endurance heavy power that causes you to randomly teleport a short distance during combat whenever you are melee attacked, granting a situational bonus to avoidance of that attack, as well as a defense bonus.

5. Fix the sound system. Your 'volume levels' are a joke. The difference in volumes between different sounds is minimal, leans to the too loud side, and even with volume set to 25%, sounds are so invasive and loud that they overwrite ventrilo conversations.

6. Consider adding a ventrilo-like client to the game, running on its own hardware server, and add the ability to use preset and client created channels by tying the voice system to the chat system.

This would exclude the global and broadcast channels to avoid idiot-spam.

7. Allow team and supergroup based map pinging like in other games. Client chooses to send pings to team, supergroup, or supergroup and team.

8. add an option for a ROUND minimap, non-sizeable, but moveable and anchorable.

9. add a 'monstrous' "chicken leg" styled UPPER leg for 'robot' and 'skeletal robot' and 'cyborg' and 'metallic'.

10. Allow use of monstrous (small) feet with normal thighs, by tweaking them to 'fit' properly at the knee.

11. Add moose antlers and round mouse ears...please!

12. Move HORNS to their OWN separate detail on ALL head categories...helmet, half helmet, mask with hair, full mask, full helmet, standard, hats, hoods, et al. Allowing the player to have horns on any head.

13. Add an option to TURN OFF the in-game display of jetpacks, jump packs, and crab backpacks, et al, allowing players to use them without other people seeing them. In the case of the crab pack, might I suggest that the bullet attacks and grenade attacks be animated as the player whipping out a gun, shooting, then putting it away, and the player whipping a grenade by hand. This would mean anyone with a crab backpack would also have to choose a gun style. In the case of energy attacks, make them emanate from the players eyes.

14. Add a shield THROW power. Please!

15. Change the AE so a person can earn full experience on any map or series of maps in a mission group...BUUUT...set it so you can only run 10 mission arcs per day, per character.

16. Change superspeed to allow running up and along vertical surfaces.

17. add a wall-crawl/ceiling-crawl power.

18. Hats....MOAR HATZ!

19. Ditto for full helmets.

20. Add another 5 to 15 shades to each 'normal' color, with a corresponding glow-map color (in the glow map menu suggested earlier in this post).

I realize some of these suggestions may be over the top, unpopular, or mildy idiotic, but they are designed to add flexibility and enjoyment to the game.

You have multiple suggestions within a single post. If you had posted them seperately, we could have more in-depth discussions of each (and both thier merits and flaws). I'll try to break it down.

This has been suggested before, and was relatively well-recieved. Detractors held the opinion that brevity is a virtue when writing a bio and that simply adding something like "see full description on VirtueVerse.com" was sufficient.
After a certain length, many people quit reading. I like reading bios, myself, but "too long" is a turn off to me. I'd only support this because I believe "more options=good thing".

Ventrilo is already available as a third-party app that works quite well. Dev time required to bundle something like this into the game instead of working on other time seems like a waste to some (paraphrasing from previous discussion of "Add an official Ventrilo")

Interesting. I feel no need for it now, but I know that if I had it as an option I would certainly tinker with it out of curiosity. Who knows, I might end up prefering it over the square one.

Costume stuff should go in the stickied thread to get SexyJay to see it, otherwise you're just spitting in the wind.
The Animations Dev might see this last one if it were it's own thread (with "animations" in the title, I would suggest)
Incidently, I like all of the suggestions in this cluster, except for Mickey Mouse ears, depending on how close they come to the trademarked logo of the heavily litigious company we all know and love.
I rarely use horns, so I don't care much one way or the other on that.

Where would you add this? Would you grant a 10th power in the Shield Defence powerset or add a new power pool?
Add a single-target ranged attack into this defensive set? Several melee sets have a ranged attack already and if you wait until L41+ you can take ranged attacks in the PPPs/APPs too.

Added Personal Opinion: I like the concept of Captain America, but dislike the idea of throwing your shield frisbee-style at your opponents. YMMV.

Run arcs with normal, not custom foes? I don't like running against custom foes. Risk/reward was skewed last time I did (it's been adjusted since) such that the foes were either way tougher than standard factions for the same XP or were worth nearly nothing.
Oh, I almost forgot. AE missions don't get Patrol XP applied do they?

Some of those suggestions are simple, sure, but others are on the opposite side of the universe in comparison.

Oh I dunno, as a person who has happily spent thousands of hours editing maps, models and more for games as far back as Quake, Jedi Knight II, et al I suppose my idea of 'simple' is different than most folks

To me simple is going from A to B to C, then connecting C to A, then cross connecting B to Z, mirroring the whole thing in 3 dimensions, then throwing in a tap dancing bullfrog for good measure

For Devs with a proper set of tools (which I'm certain they have), most of this stuff isn't particularly DIFFICULT...just...tedious...very...very...tedious .

For instance adding nodes for wall/ceiling crawl, I tend to agree now that I've thought about it, it would either require an odd situational change to game physics or else adding 'sticky' nodes in the bazillions on every existing map.


I'll try to find some time to hunt down the costume sticky thread.

As Pork said this one is a complete discussion thread in it's own right. From a personal point of view I would love this, I tend to take a travel power on most of my toons because I find ninja run to slow (even with the fitness pool) and on several characters I could spare some slots for Ninja Run if it gave me a free power choice. Assuming that it starts with zero slots I don't think it would be unbalanced.

However, I think making it slottable would set a bad precedent for the game. The powers in the super boosters are all conveniences but don't really change the power level of characters. Even Ninja Run, which can substitute for a travel power if you want it to, isn't significantly faster than the jump pack temporary powers that are freely available. Allowing Ninja Run to be slottable would give a much larger bonus to those who have purchased the pack than those who haven't.

I am cool with this too. Though it is arguable how "simple" that is.

NO. Absolutely not. Buying a travel power should not be allowed. Also, Temp powers (or pack powers) are, as a rule, not enhanceable, that should remain so.

Nope to this too. However, if you propose that this pool get created for EVERYONE with a [Ninja Run] clone... I am all for it.

I have never used Ventrilo, so that doesn't impact me... but the rest of that sounds kinda like hooey. Sounds don't seem to be an issue.

Good idea... though IIRC we are already almost to the limit of node usage on our characters.

No. Crabs are crabs. Jet packs are jet packs. Re-animating all of that stuff is far from trivial, and defies the flavor of the items/ATs involved. Also, the animator's time would be MUCH better spent making new animations for new powersets.

No. This was probably not included for the same reason that Shield Offense was not created: What is protecting you when the shield is over there? And how would having 10 powers in a set work? That is a tad unprecedented.

At this point, I think it would be the best for the Devs to recant their "alternate leveling path" statements and have AE be 0 XP... that way anyone can make whatever they want, and it still works. Ultimate freedom for writers. Then, perhaps altering AE Tickets so they could be turned in for XP. That way, if it becomes an issue, they need only tweak the Ticket --> XP conversion rate or the ticket drop rate.

No. It's lack of vertical mobility balances its overt speed and having the best pre-req power (Hasten).

This would require FAR too much time to be practical... not to mention how useless it would be if there are no "walls" in the area.

I think a better idea here would be to switch to a simple CMYK or likewise color choosing system, and then have a "pallete" on which you could save a certain number of pre-picked colors so that you could easily use them later.

-However if you mean to increase it end and able to slot it- it still is alot, currently its 0.46. double is 0.92, with basic-2/4 slots it'll properly be around 0.60 give or take thats alot for a Temp Power.

To the rest of the Ideas. First of all it does seem like some thought has gone into them so fair enough.

1. O.k plz do, its been said before but i would like this idea.
2- i like (over time)
5- No real comment tbf- i normally listen to music or watch a film/anime on my second screen when playing this game so i dont use the ingame sound much.
6- would be nice, but you can still use the programs anyway while the game is running.

No, several of your suggestions are in fact difficult within the current game, based on previous comments by the developers. In particular, #2, 3, 14, 16, and 17 would be somewhere between "difficult" and "downright impossible" without essentially a rewrite of the game's core facilities (which is about as costly as making a new game, at which point... why not make a new game and stick it on store shelves?).

Similarly, #6, 7, 13, and 15 would be possible, but require a significant investment of time and/or resources; most probably far more significant than the outcome is worth.

The rest of your suggestions are closer to what I would call "simple". Tedious or not isn't the question here. (I do make distinctions between 'simple' and 'trivial'. Something 'simple' can still take a month or more to work on.)
