Info on Electric Control
I imagine Jolting Chains will function somewhat like Chain Induction and much less like Earthquake. Earthquake creates a knockdown patch. When foes enter the patch it rolls the chance to knockdown. I imagine Jolting Chains will be a single target knockdown power that summons a pseudo-pet centered on the target. That pseudo-pet will attack the closest enemy with a knockdown power that will spawn anothe pseudo-pet with the same role and trigger a mode to prevent the power from spreading back to the target, preventing it from spreading indefinitely.
I think it's premature to judge the set until we've actually seen it. Without knowing the recharge rate, cast time, pulse rate, mezz duration, damage output, secondary effects, etc, It's not possible to judge the power set. All we know right now is "pulsing sleep" and "chained knockdown" which doesn't tell us a whole lot except for flavor.

This.
I can make the judgment that jolting chain will break he sleep of static field
But I can't make the judgment that static field does or doesn't reapply sleep fast enough for that not to matter.
I can say that if static field does reapply sleep that quickly then it is indeed " a sleep worth taking", but failing that measure doesn't necessarily negate that statement either.
...This set makes me nervous...I will roll one anyway if it sucks...so I can complain about it and tell everyone how leet I am for enduring it :P.
Just joshin'. I don't do it with Gravity and I surely will not do it with this set...brag that is. |
Was totally awesome. Used dimension shift. Used the teammate-based knockback toggle. Wormholed mobs that were already around the tank. Did everything you should never do. Never once got a complaint. In fact, people we asking how I managed to make such a build work.
Grav is _so_ broken, and yet somehow still works well.
That combo is just seriously sick, and is a perversion of gameplay mechanics. - Excelsio
The Infernal Challenge
Building a WarTroller
Troller Damage
I laughed at this so hard I cried. Then I went out and played my 50 Grav/Sonic that has no Stamina, no IO bonuses, and dimension shift. It's a toon where everything is wrong. Did a respec trial and about 7 radios.

I still use my Grav/kin but I don't love him as much as Plant or Earth. I am not asleep I had two cups of coffee this morning :P.
PS. -Well I am telling a lie I am leveling up a Grav/Energy Dom.
Try a Grav/Storm . . . I tried Grav/Rad and Grav/Kin and just couldn't get into them. But there are some interesting aspects of a Grav/Storm. At level 16, Freezing Rain makes up for Grav's lack of AoE control by combining Freezing Rain with Crushing Field for an AoE knockdown field where the foes can't run away. Then Hurricane gave me the personal protection with its repel and ToHit Debuff allowing me to use my single target attacks without getting ganked by the other foes around. Thunderclap's Stun stacks with Wormhole. Wormhole lets you take the baddies and put them in a corner so that you can use Tornado and Lightning Storm to be more effective, and then you can hold them there with Crushing Field and Hurricane. . . . And Singy can be my tank, to draw aggro while I take my time setting up my other tricks.
It isn't necessarily fast, but I find my Grav/Storm is one of my favorite solo controllers.
LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

As far as the sleep goes, well designed sleep powers can be quite good. For example, Mass Hypnosis is nice since it's ranged and produces zero aggro. Mesmerize on the other hand is nice because it has a magnitude high enough to sleep a Boss and fairly high damage. If, say, this new power turns out to be a placeable patch version of Mass Hypnosis or a high damage AoE sleep I'd take it.
Arc #40529 : The Furies of the Earth
I would prefer it to cause no agro, even, if like VG, it took a few seconds for it's mag to stack up.
It would definately be skippable (for me) if it delt damage. But maybe sleep isnt it's only affect? if it affects a -regen or -recovery aswell, it would definately change things alot.

You know what would be neat in Electric Control...Thunderclap with a higher mag stun. It would look great in electric and fit thematically. You know what would be even better, a teleporting thunderclap like shield charge but only with control no damage.
How cool a combo would that be thunderclap, aoe immobilize, and lighting field. I would play the set just for that.
On the thought of sleeps in sets, if they do put a sleep in the set they couldnt put a pbaoe aura similar to hotfeet (lighting field) could they? I mean that and an aoe immobilize would neuter the value of the sleep. That is part of my complaint about Ice, you give the set all these great soft controls, some nice pbaoe controls and then cram a sleep in that is countered by almost every power in the set. It just doesn't make sense.
I hope the set is similar to fire and ice with the ability to get in close and stay close to the mobs effectively (yes I plan on making an ele/ele dom but still).
I cant wait for electric control and someday maybe water ") I am wondering about any secondary for trollers or prim for defenders that may be coming down the line somewhere in the future?
