What the heck is Botz?

I see this term all the time and can't figure out what exactly its supposed to reference. First I thought it was referring to an exploit but that doesn't make sense.

To expand a bit, it provides very nice bonuses (specifically positional defense bonuses) for a very small slot investment making it a popular choice for those looking to softcap thier character. Prior to the nerf it was a bit of a no-brainer for such builds, post nerf it'ws still useful but less of a "must have"

Not sure why it took them so long to actually consider the nerf. Why make the numbers in the first place?

Whats next? Thunderstrikes?

Well, I imagine they're pretty busy. It had probably been on a list of things to be looked at for quite a while, and they finally got around to looking at it recently.

The numbers were what they were because they didn't anticipate people taking 5 travel powers in order to fit 5 of the bonuses in their build. That's what the major problem was, the bonuses were fine if you only had a set or two in your build, it got out of hand when people started stacking 5 of them.....which is the exact reason Sprint is flagged to not accept them.

Castle, I think it was, posted about it.

IIRC:

The set got tagged to be watched with a note that they purposely made the bonuses a tad high, then it/IOs got handed over to someone else to look after, who mis-understood the note.

Note that its set bonuses were recently nerfed.
Ahh ok, now that makes sense. No issues with the bonuses to me. That last knockback protection recipe is incredibly expensive. Understood now why there's a controversy though.

It's more about the defenses. 3% stacked 5 times is pretty significant when you're trying to reach soft caps.

No, Posi was clear in multiple posts that the issue was not with the size of the bonus, it was the bonus compared to the number of slots required.

By that logic Thunderstrike needs 6 slots for the full bonus and is thus not in the same league.

But they say over and over, just because something hasn't been fixed yet doesn't mean it will never be. Like the Hami-o bug that allows exploiting the schedule-a schedule-b bonus % difference. That will be fixed even though it has been around for years and the devs know about it.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

Do you have a quote that it will be fixed? It seemed like a fairly intractable problem/exploit last I heard. I thought it was filed in the 'known bugs but we can't touch it without bringing down the Jenga system known as CoX'.

Castle said so.

True it was a few years ago he said it.
