One-year veteran: Thanks, WW and team!
Wow, what a nice and positive post!
Nice post, Cap!
I'm a 6 year+ vet myself & I can say with great certitude that if you keep this up you'll pass my lowly post count in no time.
Anyway, I nominate you for the prestigious "Feel-Good Post of the Week" award!

I want to repeat something I've said before - it's the Internet, and this forum in particular, which taught me English to the degree I speak it today. I came here with a good but rudimentary level of written English, but through practice and interaction with the native speakers, I've managed to get to a level that at least I feel is pretty dang good
That, and for an unsocial person such as myself, the kind of interaction I've had here has been quite useful in general. It sound odd to learn about people's reactions from the Internet, but in a large part, it's useful as thanks to the Greater ******* Theory, most people tend to be more genuine to their personality on the 'net than they are in real life, which makes these experiences actually quite useful.
'Sides, no better way to learn how to take a verbal beating in your stride
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

Captain_Electric loves the world: I love reading all the stories and clues and contact bios during missions, creating and updating my characters bios as they grow and change throughout their adventures (this might be my favorite part), and just started using Virtueverse.com too. I read comic books, especially Marvel. I also read and write science-fiction. But for me, personally, there's nothing that can hold a candle to the uniqueness of this nightly fictitious experience that's as much my creation as it is Paragon Studios. Paragon Studios has built a comic book universe that is at once familiar and original, and I've carved my own creations into a corner of that universe. |
Great post and happy anniversary!
Dec out.
Congratz! May you enjoy many more years!
Come next Tuesday I'll be a one year vet and I couldn't be happier! This game is more than just a creative tool to express my imagination, it's a part of my life. I've met some awesome people in my almost year here and I wouldn't trade them for the world. (Corny but SO true.) Without all the awesome people in-game and on the boards my life this year would have been lonelier. Keep rockin' everyone!
Congrats to Captain Electric for 1 year and congrats to Hyperstrike on 2 years and pregrats to Hidden Hero for 1 year. Even when I am not playing the game I LOVE coming to the forums and reading them, even if I don't post. This game rocks! In May I hit my 3 year badge and I am still loving this game.
Cancel the kitchen scraps for widows and lepers, no more merciful beheadings and call off christmas!
I received my one year veteran badge yesterday.

And I feel the same. I've gotten more enjoyment/dollar out of COH than any other recreational activity, starting at a time when $15/month was a lot of money.

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

HELLO THAR!!! (Oops caps.)
I received my one year veteran badge yesterday. (I don't say much on the forums, although I read a lot here.) I have 12 heroes and 3 villains, with a few sitting on the fence pending Going Rogue. I've bought several of the super boosters now, and pre-purchased Going Rogue. I play almost every night after work (CoH is my wind-down method), even if it's just for a couple of hours; but my highest level is only 43. I love reading all the stories and clues and contact bios during missions, creating and updating my characters bios as they grow and change throughout their adventures (this might be my favorite part), and just started using Virtueverse.com too. I read comic books, especially Marvel. I also read and write science-fiction. Paragon Studios has built a comic book universe that is at once familiar and original, and I've carved my own creations into a corner of that universe. And it has improved my life. I don't think I've suffered writer's block at all in the past year, having this constant scratch for my creative itch. And it helps me relax (most nights), and clears my head of daily worries about work and bills, as I enter into the fictitious lives of my characters and their friends. I sleep 7 or 8 hours a night now, probably for the first time in my whole life. I could go on and on. Mostly, I just want to express thanks. Especially for the community that keeps all of this alive; for Matt "Positron" Millar, for his unceasing genius; for War-Witch, for overseeing Going Rogue (and the deeper nuances it will help bring to my characters); and for Rick Dakan, who I understand wrote much of the original storyline and comics. Kidding. Have some anniversary rep, Cap.

Thanks folks, and I'm looking forward to another year. My most-played heroes are all just now beginning to stumble upon their biggest, most important arcs yet, so I'm sure their best adventures are still ahead of them.
P.S. Thanks, Hyperstrike, for making the Ultra Mode guide linked in your signature! (I actually built a new PC to prepare for Issue 17, worth every penny.)
