Sidekicks
You, uh, do realize that the system by which a lower level player joins the team of a higher level player is the "Super Sidekick System", right?
My story arcs: #2370- Noah Reborn, #18672- The Clockwork War, #31490- Easy Money
Sartre once said, "Hell is other people." What does that make an MMO?
Yes I do.But what if you are soloing and need a lil bit more help? Call in your sidekick! I play alot by myself since I play on the dead champion server.Like my name is Stingman, I'll have a sidekick named Stinggirl or stingboy. This is a whole different idea than the super sidekick system.Every hero should have a personal sidekick.Lots of heroes and villians in comics had personal sidekicks, why can't we? See what I'm saying?
Are you sure you want a Fusionette type AI running with you in every mission?
Let there be truth, happiness, and waffles

The Justiciars
Unlike the dumb Fusionette, like I said you will be able to control what mode you want them in.Just like The Masterminds you can put your sidekick in defensive, attack, follow,or passive mode.So this will put the control of the sidekick in your hands.Adds more to a strategy type of gaming.U can be a tank and have your side kick be a defender or controller that you I hope you will put in follow mode so they can stay out of harms way and heal or buff you.And not all the NPC are bad as fusionette, you have faultline.Love his holds.
Oh and plus yoy will have the option of having the Sidekick run with you.Like I said it's a summon power. All this would bring is a lil bit more help, till he or she dies. Then if you have a good recharge time, the power will be back in your power tray ready to use.
first off, spaces after punctuation please.
secondly, if you want sidekicks, play toons that have pets or get shivans or longbow mechs.
thirdly, if you find your server dead, move to another one like freedom or virtue. go to the server section and check out what is happening on all the servers and make a choice.
This could be a good idea when it's fleshed out a bit more. Would it be a Power Pool or what? Could the Sidekick have it's own ID card with description and battle cry? What level do you get it at?
Don't forget, this is an MMO. Adding a Sidekick feature would take away from the multiplayer part because you won't need teams as much.

Well I'm not gonna leave Champion. Even tho it's dead, I still have friends on that server. Plus it's like home to me.Well if the devs don't wanna add any more MM commands that's cool.I just would like the idea of having a sidekick. It will be availiable at lvl 40, and the mish would be thru the atlas park rep. maybe I'm the only one that like the old comics with hero and sidekick,I dunno, but I think it would be a sweet feature that would give it a more traditional comic book feel. The side wouldn't have it's own battle cry, or ID card, since it's a summon power like the witch chick(I forget her name). You see what I mean? I'm sure the devs would make the AI Sidekick system kinda smart and not just run around and aggro everything. It should be at perma bodyguard, saying it only attack when the hero is attacked. Maybe I'm just a wishful dreamer who love his batman and robin, Green arrow and speedy, Aquaman and aqua lad, etc etc.
As for the topic, I don't really think this would work out. There would have to be severe limitations to prevent your sidekick from becoming too overpowered and letting you solo with ease. After that, they'd probably be dumbed down so much that nobody would want to use them.
Just use your imagination. For example, me and my sister play together frequently. Her Hero is higher level than my Hero, so when we team together is almost like I'm her sidekick. She's the tough scrapper who goes and dukes it out with the enemies, and I'm the defender who makes her stronger and blasts from afar. If you have friends who like to duo, you could work it out like that. Even if you're the leader of an eight man team, they could all technically be your sidekicks. Just temporary. It could be like "Okay guys, Dr. Super-Evil is planning to destroy the Atlas statue! That is why I've called you all here, we've got to stop him! Follow my lead and we'll stop Dr. Super-Evil!"
Cliche', I know. But I'm just showing you how you can role play that type of thing out while you're playing the game regularly. Besides, having a real player that you can coordinate strategies with is far better than having some Fusionette AI run around blasting everything that moves. The most fun I have with my sister is when we come to a tough boss and we both talk about our strategy and how we're going to approach the situation.

Got Inf?
Well I tried and I couldn't win over the people lol.Thank you all for at least considering.I still would like to see it, but if my fellow gamers don't like it then throw it in the can and start anew
It's really a pretty cool idea except for what Bill said about the devs saying no MM-type controlling. That's what kills it.
Dec out.
The idea has been around plenty, though I still wouldn't mind seeing a new AT where perhaps the secondary is the customizable sidekick. Maybe your primary is melee and the sk plays support. I've wondered how a reverse-bodyguard might work (sk gets hit, you take part of the damage, under the idea that part of the deal with having a sk is looking after one). Not sure if or how it would work with the AI.
Suggestions:
Super Packs Done Right
Influence Sink: IO Level Mod/Recrafting
Random Merit Rolls: Scale cost by Toon Level
That would be a cool secondary. How would the power list lay out though?
*Clears throat and stands upon a podium, evidently getting ready to make a very important speech...*
... RP is the remedy.
*Audience cheers!*
I guess so lol
I love this idea! I do solo quite a bit, and I really enjoy having another NPC around on those special missions. Those missions just seem more dynamic.
I would make it so that you can create you SK via the AE character builder interface so you can choose AT and powersets.
Other limitations:
- spawns 1 level below you
- takes XP like he was a PC
- Does not get any buffs from the player
- only a group leader can have their SK available
- does not interfer with your drops
- I like the idea of the basic MM controls
- despawns if player goes to AFK mode

Well, for now you can design a "sidekick" and add him/her into an AE mission arc or something.. Not exactly what you were asking for, but probably the closest you'll ever get to having one.
After seeing the april fools joke about the "City of sidekicks" I got to wondering, why do we have sidekicks? What good hero goes without a sidekick? What evil genius goes without a loyal minion? I thought long and hard on this.I would like to have a sidekick added as a power!
Just like the mission for capes and auras,we should be able to go to the Atlas park rep and get the mission to earn a Sidekick. It should be like a rescue mission of your biggest fans. The hardest decision a hero should ever make is which one we should save, so there should be two choices ever a male fan or female fan. After choosing which one you want to save, I figured there should be up to three missions.First should be like the cape mish, talk to some famous ex sidekicks and then go defeat some baddies in a mish.Second mish should be like aura mish, hunt some baddies. Then the third should be the rescue the male or female fan mish. After completing the missions you have unlocked the customizable sidekick in the tailor, but first you must goto a trainer and select what kind of sidekick it should be.Goto a trainer and select the option that reads"Train your sidekick".The set up should be like selecting the archtype, origin and powers. But the sidekick can only have two primary and one secondary powers.Even name him or her! The sidekick will be at the default look when you first saved him or her, you will have to goto the tailor and change the look. This should be placed at the top that after power tab.The sidekick can only have one costume.Everything just like the Hero should be customizable, from height to shoes.Whetever you have unlocked should be available to your sidekick. You can use either a discount ticket, free tailor coin, or use your influence to pay for this.
This should be a payable unlockable like the magic and ninja pack.Bring out some great emotes, new faces, and costume pieces. The power should be like a summon power.the hero would whistle and the sidekick come running up from behind ready to fight.Controlling the sidekick should be like the masterminds. You can place in defensive, attack,or passive mode. The enhancements should be enhance recharge, endurance reduction. The Sidekicks should be buffable and healable. They would fight one level under the hero.
I hope everyone would agree that this would be a great addition to the world of COH.Please take this into consideration and think about it before shooting it down.
thanks,
Stingman
