*Clears throat and stands upon a podium, evidently getting ready to make a very important speech...*
... RP is the remedy.
*Audience cheers!* -
Out of all the text, this sentence stands out the most to me... are you saying that you're comparing a level eight's abilities in comparison to characters you've been using for years, likely above level 40? Or, are you saying that you've been playing lots of mini-leveled characters and, all at once, it feels like things drain faster?

This may or may not be another 'planned event' occurring, but I'm wondering, all the same.
Will there, perhaps, at any point be a chance to customize Power Pool abilities after they've been granted, inside the Tailor sections?
Also, a suggestion (In case it -is- possible that these be customizable), might be to make the Power Pools capable of being... activated, differently. A perfect example of this would be the Medicine tree. It seems like those abilities are geared toward the assumption that technology is used. I can't quite gather why a Magic Origin user might be using Tech healing abilities. Potions and whatnot seem more likely.
Before anyone comments ... yes, I know, realize and am well aware that -this- is one of those 'much more difficult tasks'. The point of the board is to give 'any suggestions', not 'suggestions that we can already do simply and easily', from my perspective. So, I mix and match. -
Yeah, no, I know. It was mentioned earlier that someone did it in their spare time; I was saying about the animations system. I'm just playing through things in my head of ways they -could- have it set up, to find that they set it up a very... interesting, way. Is all.
Not saying anything bad about it, of course. -
Hm... interesting way to set that up, is all I can say.

What I'm trying to share with you is that I don't think any of the abilities would need to be changed. Their 'natural attack appearances' would be fine for what they already are. The only difference would be the aftermath of the character walking, instead of running away from the scene.

It occurred to me that in the customization ability of costumes, it's more than possible to get an 'Official' belt. Anyone familiar with the 'Official' belt knows quite well that, what it is, is simply a PD Officer belt.
That in mind and aside at the same time, I'm wondering if it would be 'overboard' to allow players to set their characters up with weapons on their costumes that don't have abilities associated with them. In other words, just having the 'look', if so desired.
This may be more work than it's worth, though, since the next thing attached to this is: "I'd also like to see emotes with this new costume ability!"
On the other hand, that may not be necessary, depending on how the existing emotes look with the held weapon (Which, quite honestly, would probably cover the 'needs' (wants) of emoters).
It just occurred to me a week or so ago that one of my characters would have carried a weapon around during an entire RP session, but because the Powersets didn't involve said weapons, it was an incapability. Since then, I started thinking about all the characters who would actually be able to use such a thing, and... almost passed out from concentrated thought of high numbers (Yes, thinking is a dangerous thing for me). -
Yes, I noticed, that's part of the reason I'd like for it to be possible to have abilities on while walking; for example, a particular character of mine uses his Drone as a motion detector, of sorts. Just makes more sense as a Devices user to be able to use said Drone even while walking (RP reasoning, of course).
The other reason is that my Kheld doesn't move without having at least one shield around her. Obviously, walking takes this shield off. There's nothing that would look 'wrong' in the case of visuals, that I've seen so far... the only thing I'd fix so far is that when you hit Walk, characters with guns put their guns pointing downward at their side and move their hands normally (Thus it looks like they're swinging their gun forward and back as they walk), and I'd rather they hold it at their chest. But it still doesn't look 'ridiculous'.
As it currently stands, the remedy is... pretty much, use Walk, get within range of an enemy or group, turn Walk off (Hope to the Nine you don't have to fully buff for this group), attack until everything's dead, turn Walk back on, and keep moving. While this, I guess, works ... it doesn't work conveniently, and I suppose that's what I'm more or less asking for. Convenience. -
When I first started playing (Little under a month and a half ago), I started exploring the various possibilities of character movement. As could be expected. I ran across 'Walk', and found that I was unable to use abilities while the Walk setting is toggled. To me, this appeared very strange, but I kept wandering around in Walk mode and trying to attack critters along the street (In case the 'greyed out' didn't mean they were inaccessible, and instead meant something else). Unable to do so, I began pondering the various possibilities of -why- this may be the case...
... About a month later, I'm still not entirely sure why it's impossible to fathom the idea of using abilities while in Walk mode. In the real world, I can pull a gun out and shoot someone while walking down the street, I can turn on the front of my boot and slam my fist into someones' face, if I'm feeling violent, and walk off afterward. I can use a baseball bat or tire-iron on someones' head. And I'm almost positive that if a Superhero/Supervillain were to walk around, they'd be able to flare their abilities around them and remind the average civilian not to mess with 'em.
So, I'm wondering if there's a -cause-, or if there's a way we can get such a thing fixed to where it's possible. -
It does get a little troublesome being in an RP session and feeling like your character's been there for three days already. That, and in the case of a 'night raid'... night doesn't last long enough for one to happen!

I can't help but disagree with that statement, even if Devs made it; most of the visuals that are used on several of my characters are practically required to make the 'look' for my characters, since I build them to 'blend', or better, with the abilities.
Even if they made a 'No Visual' option for every ability in the game, they'd have a ton of people using the effects. I wouldn't be the only one, I'm sure, who thinks it's neat to have such customizable abilities.
