Game won't go past Loading screen
well, last time i made sure that mcafee didnt start up when i restart, my computer just wouldnt connect to the internet. I tried turning off the firewall, turned off the active scan thing, i even went through the list of programs that I have given access to the internet to and it still doesnt let me get through outside of safe mode.
*sigh*
Try uninstalling it?
It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.
update your nvidia drivers - there were a set that caused COH not to load.
B Witched -- that was the first thing I was suggested to do and that was what I did.
I was able to close out McAfee, and it still didnt run the game. I'm a little leary about uninstalling my anti-virus, but if tech support don't answer back soon, il give it a whirl.
And an odd note, after trying a few other times to see if i can force myself in, i noticed that a few CoH processes were still running, even after i closed off the programs that were not loading. Didn't cause me to get it to work, but still something interesting i noticed in task manager
are you running vista or 7? have you tried running it in admin mode?
Vista, and yeup, tried in Admin mode too.
It sounds to me like something is blocking the loading process from completing, which I would say try turn off all your firewalls and stuff and try that.
You said it works in safe mode?
The only other thing i can suggest is try a basic run of the computer, open msconfig, and select only the basic programs from services and startup to run that you really need to get the computer running, after that press ok and restart computer and try running the game that way.
If it works just reactivate each program one by one till you find out what was causing it.
One other thing, check your settings on your 3d card, the 'forced settings on' features with some cards cause the game to essentially get confused so it doesnt load up as well. Set them all to 'application controlled' and try again.
yeup, works in safe mode.
I already tried the basic run of the computer, and some reason, the laptop wont connect to the internet with that.
Checked the 3D settings, and its already set to application controlled.
i might suggest that you download and install both adaware and malwarebytes and run both.
not that a spyware might be causing it but who knows? also have you tried to flush your dns? this might not help but i do it about once a month, in case you have a bad ip cached.I Had trouble when I17 came out on my machine, and one of the fixes i tried was rename your coh dir to .old and re-install,yes this will be a pain . I suggest this in case you have a bad sector in the game files, a defrag and scan disk might help,

I uninstalled my anti-virus and still not working.. now i gotta reinstall it dammit. :/
I doubt it's a bad sector that is causing it, or needing a defrag, i have it scan for bad sectors and do a defrag weekly on a day I'm always at work. And it wouldn't affect both Test server and Live server the same way.
il try the flushing of the DNS in a minute. Soon as I figure out how to do that again. lol
Infinite, the easiest way to do that is to create a shortcut for yourself.
Right-click on an empty area of your desktop and hit new>shortcut
In 'Type Location of Item' type this
%windir%\system32\ipconfig.exe /flushdns
Hit 'next' and in 'Type a Name for This Shortcut' put what you want. (I put 'Flush DNS')
You can also do the regular way
Start>Run and type this (or copy paste) into the box
%windir%\system32\ipconfig.exe /flushdns
Hope that helps

nope. dns flush didnt work either
try running adaware and malwarebytes, clean out any saved cookies.also i know you upgraded to sp2 but did you do any more checks for update after

funny, almost 40 posts in here, a week later, and still nothing has changed.
DLed adaware, ran it. found 0 bad things, but 300 cookies..
Tried to get on, and still the same thing.
Everything is up to date with the windows patches
Tech support seems to be just as confused, as NOTHING they are suggesting is working. This is starting to look very bleak for me
Anything short of system restore would be greatly appreciated.
After looking a bit at my HIjackThis thing, i see a lot of entries that say "file missing"
could those missing files be needed for anything? or what?
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
yeup, works in safe mode.

The Hijackthis thing could be the key, but also try find if theres a program running something to do with your internet connection and turn it back on when you do your basic startup.
If you can get your internet working with the bare minimum programs running, at least we know if its a 3rd party program blocking it or if its something else.
updated Hijack this

Yeah, i figured the issue with the laptop not connecting when i turn everything off. I temporarily uninstalled McAfee til i figure everything out. WHich means no more searching for stuff that I do in private time.
well glad you ran adaware, and cleaned out cookies, for a side note malwarebytes finds some things that adaware misses,
I know you hate this idea, rename current coh to coh.old, and do a fresh re-install
good luck

what would doing a fresh install do? I have 2 versions (test and Live) that both are going through the same thing. I highly highly doubt reinstalling will do anything, as whatever caused it, is not the CoX files itself.
Ok, the problem is not with the missing files. 64 bit windows runs 32 bit files in a non standard manner so hijackthis sees them as missing.
Try this. Load the game in safe mode then go into graphics options. Under screen resolution choose windowed mode. In the past the game has run on some systems in windowed mode but not fullscreen mode, and the other way around as well.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
windowed mode is a phail
which loading screen is it getting stuck on? the small loading bar or the one with the characters in the background?
I'm asking because whenever I restart my computer it takes roughly 5min to load past the "character loading" screen. Now since my computer is pretty powerful, that 5 min could be more for you.
I haven't figured out why it's doing it, but after a while i get to the username /password screen.
I suppose you could try turning McAfee all the way OFF and see if that makes a difference. I'd suggest disabling all of it's services and such just to be sure no part of it is running, then see what happens.
