In CoH, or comics?

Something in the back of my brain stirs, and I remember a thread on Virtue's server section of the forums (I believe) that had a contest about that, for the CoH types. There was some great stuff, as I recall.

Might be an interesting idea here to get more folks involved who may have missed that, assuming you're talking about CoH. That lets everyone play, using the costume creator.

In CoH obviously... that's why it says NPCs

Here's a quick try at Statesman... the head doesn't look right and the cape should be red but it's not >.> forgot to change that color.

This thread on the Virtue server brought about some really awesome redesigns:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=210488
(The contest is over now of course but all of the costume designs are still up to look at. And there are some great concepts.)

Here were the ones I came up with:

For him I figured we shouldn't take him too far from his original but could still add some details. Such as the Valkyrie helmet to add some wings to his outfit. What American hero could be complete without wings?

Sister Psyche:

Psyche's deciding to cover up some but we couldn't take away ALL the eye candy. The fishnets of the top serve to tease without putting out on display.

Positron:

Positron's suit is looking a little sleeker but retains functionality. Not much else to say.

Back Alley Brawler:

BABs has never been one for flashy. Except of course in his gloves, but of course his fist is the last thing you'll see before getting laid out anyways. A leather jacket that screams bad*** and some longer hair complete this "You might as well lock yourself up, it'll be less painful" look.

Manticore:

Manticore seemed a little underprotected for someone without any powers. So adding some padding and a flak jacket should provide a little more defense in those tough situations.

Synapse:

A look that, in my opinion, is a little more sleek than the last one. Is the red on his shoes supposed to be there? Or is the friction starting to turn up the heat? You decide.

Numina:

Numina's look as always been, in my opinion, one of the better looks of the Phalanx. We just HAD to stick with robes, albeit a slightly different design to them. Some high heels prove that Numina has a feminine side but that wild hair had to go, replaced with something nicer and more managed.

Citadel:

Citadel is just an all around powerhouse, and his redesign had to show that. Some bulked up armor some upgrades to power management and he could take on Recluse's circle himself!

Hope you guys like em I may come back with more later if I get around to it.

I'll also throw in my designs from the Virtue contest thread.

Quote:
Well, I guess I'll throw my creations in the mix. These are costumes for a AE storyarc that I've been working on for a few months. Without giving the story away, these costumes fit a new "persona" for each of the Phalanx.

Note: I'm not a fan of over the top "hokeyness" when it comes to my characters or costumes. I like a more "real & gritty" feel, kind of like if it was something that could be seen in real life. While they may look nothing like the canon characters we have all come to know, I feel that these best portray a new, or realistic, Freedom Phalanx.

BACK ALLEY BRAWLER

MANTICORE

POSITRON

SISTER PSYCHE

STATESMAN

SYNAPSE

And to round off my versions of the Freedom Phalanx:

NUMINA

CITADEL

And just to fill... :P

MASKLESS STATESMAN

And, I felt that it was time to give someone a much needed promotion. He's done a lot to help us all and showed us that we had what it took to step into Paragon and defend it. He's definately deserving of a spot within the Freedom Phalanx...

COYOTE

To answer the questions I was asked in the Virtue thread, incase they are asked here:

Why do they have guns? Let's say that these "supers" are less than "super."

Why does Citdel look like Positron? In the canon story, Positron freed Bastion and gave him free will. In my story, Positron took control of Citadel and remade him in his own image.

Why do you reuse so many of the same costume pieces? Well, I like uniformity. I like when you see groups wearing similar clothing to show their solidarity, much like the military and police. Since the Freedom Phalanx is a group of like-minded people, why not have them look the part?

pohsyb: so of all people you must be most excited about the veats

I decided to try my hand at Ghost Falcon. I, too, have always thought his costume was less than extraordinary. After a couple of hours in the costume creator, I found a look that I was pleased with. I might even throw him into my MA arc as a cameo :P

I felt he needed a more "I've travelled a great distance through space and was well protected from harsh elements and radiation and junk" kind of look.

I'm trying to figure that out. Recluse's signature look is his unique spider legs. I HATE using the crab spider back pack because it looks too clunky. I'm going to try to remake a few other villains while I'm at it.

Villians turned Do-Gooder suddenly saw the light and started to clean up the mean streets of beautiful Atlas Park & Galaxy City. The open portal into Praetoria seemed to allow in all sorts of riff raff to both sides. What Paragon needed now was a lighthouse of virtue, a pillar of light, a pressence to re-emerge as the becon of Hope in this darkened gray world of "heores."

This remake of image also came as a rebuilding of their brand of sorts. The Freedom Phalanx saw a need to show those who were fighting the good fight that they arent alone, that those who came before them are still around. Meaner, badder, and with less politics and public opinion. The Freedom Phalanx comes back in force, no hold barred, tearing down those who are looking for mere opprotunity over the greater good of Paragon. The time for training and sidekicks was over. It was time to reclaim their City.

"The hero business isnt about popularity anymore, its about setting the world right one crook at a time.... by any means neccessary." - Back Alley Brawler

Positron: With new developments from Rikti technology at his fingertips, Positron unviels his "Posi-tech" line of enhancements. This ultra rare line of "upgrades" transforms the scientist into an inventor who can help evlove the aging Freedom Phalanx to help fight back against a bigger, badder crime element out there. With new power mastery over his "condition", Positron takes to the skies to battle like never before, with a force unleashed that rivals near nuclear threat levels.

Back Alley Brawler:
With new Upper Extremity Posi-tech enhancements, the once "fists of power" harness a new techno-power that puts a new kind of hurt in Galaxy City. A sudden influx of Superdine has forced BaB to unleash a beat down unlike Paragon has ever seen. The "Right of Might" embodies a spirit that won't bend or break to anyone trying to flood his streets with 'Dine. He has personally led the charge to bring the fight to them. Progress over Reaction.

Manticore & Synapse:
Watching the world as they knew it start to de-evolve before their very eyes, a unique bond of sorts was made between these long time friends. With the thought that working together in a consistent, one-two punch type of style, thier efforts and rewards will be doubled. Seen by many as vigilantes now, these two have started to loosen thier ties to the original 8 as to not bring heat down on thier very public efforts. But together they have made a major dent in the crime throughout Paragon. Taking back the night one broken rib at a time.

Sister Psyche:
After a much sought after retreat to Oroborus to look within herself and come to terms better than before, Sister Pschye returns to us with a focus unlike we have ever seen. Championed by her new found mental toughness, she sets forth to correct the wrongs that are so plentiful in Paragon. She has been known to even put new "heroes" to the pavement with a look if she suspects they are here to reap the rewards of the hero lifestyle.

Citadel:
The once nuturing AI of Citadel has been upgraded. He no longer looks out upon Talos Island as a sentient robotic pressence. Instead he has chosen to evolve. To start to take on a more human look, to better understand the people, the culture, the reasoning behind thier actions. And as the curiocity unviels itself, so does an urgent need for action. His recent "Doomsday Algorithm" has predicted a full War Wall malfunction and an impending breach of peace within the next 2 years. He forces himself back into action to help prevent this from coming true.

Numina:
Spiritual guidence? Lend a hand? How about a nigh indestructable force that very few villians can even comprehend whats happening before they are drooling masses lined along the gutter of the street. And those that can actually attack a living free formed spirit are in for a very rude awakening... that is, if they can ever escape the nightmarish hell that she just mentally put them in.

Statesman:
"Politics have wasted enough time. What we need now is to fight back. I will no longer let City Hall dictate what we can and cannot do. The Freedom Phalanx is active again, and we are going to call an all out war on those who threaten our way of life. Plaster it on every billboard, every TV screen and internet blog you want. If you are in my City and trying to change OUR way of life... Prepare For Pain..."

This was the last we have ever "heard" from Statesman. No longer does he contract out high end super missions to those willing. He now has taken the war to the streets, to those who try to take advantage of Paragon City. No crook or 2 bit thief is safe anymore. There is no power in numbers. Just a growing list of incarcerated, injured, and missing in action.
