Booster Pack Ideas
Too pink didn't read.
I like lot of your ideas, I certainly like the Assassins theme pack, although I think the powers should be a ranged one, like a Sniper rifle single shot, not as powerful as a AR Blasters Sniper's shot, one that can somehow debuff a foe. Would be great for Stalkers.
I'd like to see the Future tech pack with a few jetpack back details added, would mean that natural or tech origins can have a device that allows them to use the fly power with some flare other than using the crafted Tech Wings.
Some good ideas here, my wife thought so too, she liked the pink text
Must say I found the pink difficult on the villian background
But as for your ideas, very good for the most part. Not so keen on the NPC ones, I'm ok with Signature NPC's having their own gear.
I liked the pink. Very easy on my eyes. I use the blue/hero theme.
I have nothing of use to say about the ideas you presented, however.

How about a booster with a Personal Travel Vehicle? This could more or less be ninja run with alternate graphics. For example, a natural/tech option could be a motorcyle. A magic option could be a bubble of light (or darkness). A science option could be a surfboard.
Perhaps the booster would merely unlock the ability to use a Personal Travel Vehicle, and then the character would need to acquire the recipe in game for his/her/its desired model.

Effectively: Not going to happen.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Cowboy Booster Pack.
Gunsmoke Gray needs a couple of holsters, some hat variations, and a duster.
And spurs.
Nice charecter, think just about everyone wants holsters
As for cowboy theme, nice idea. Would also be good to promote gay pride seen as we would be seeing a buttload (no pun intended ) of brokeback mountain rip offs
Also to add to this, with GR around the corner I think a good PR booster would be if they released a praetorian themed pack with some praetorian style pieces in. Im not directly relating to any particular enemy group in praetoria, more like the style of things in praetoria as a whole.
OP - just curious -
Even though you were told that your choice of font color was difficult to read on the villain background (even to the point of one poster stating that she did not read it) -
Why do you persist in using a color that makes reading your posts difficult to a significant portion of your intended audience? Is it because you feel that anyone using the reddish forum background is not worthy to consider your ideas because they must obviously play villainside more than heroside? Personally, I have chosen to use the red background because I don't like the particular blue hue chosen for that background.
I think I am likely going to be joining LISAR and just skip reading your posts in the future - which is a pity since you have had some good ideas.
For these suggestions, though I do have a few comments.
First, I really hate the idea of boosters being the only way to get new costume bits, ESPECIALLY new hair styles, so all of those are /unsigned by me.
Regarding the SG booster pack - how would that work exactly? Boosters apply per account, so even if you added the items suggested, those who did not purchase the pack would not have access to them? And when they are in the base, what would appear to them? A big blank space where the WW interface should be - or a model of the interface that was not functional? Ugh. And the ability to teleport to your base from anywhere (on a long recharge) is already in game as a Veteran's Reward at 24 months.

How about this compromise Ad, (and I've suggested this for vet reward costumes as well) When they release a new booster/vet reward with new costume pieces, they should give everyone a plain basic model that they can use, and save the fancy/unique model for the booster/vet reward.
That way no one gets screwed. People can either be satisfied with the basic model or they can choose to buy/wait for the booster/vet reward and unlock the fancy/unique model.

I know plenty of base builders that would drool over such a booster, even if it were only decorative items. We really are that desperate for a little base lovin.
On a side note I also have to cast my vote against the pink. Large walls of pink text makes my eyes water and I don't read them. The other colors don't bother me.
The more I see of the idea of having two different sets of costume pieces - plain vanilla in the regular free updates and a spiffier one either for free or for one of the vet rewards already in-game - the more I like it.
I also would like to see something, almost anything at all, added to bases. I just wanted to see if the mechanics of the suggestion had ever been considered - I'm trying to raise issues for thought. Getting new stuff to add to my bases is all very well and good, but if my sister (who shares the bases, but rarely if ever buys booster packs) can't use the stuff I've added then it doesn't really add all that much to the base I've created. The stuff added by Vet Rewards so far have all been cosmetic and decorative, and therefore a non-issue if she hasn't earned them yet (her account is about 3-4 months "younger" than mine, so she now has them all, but she did lag behind). Functional things like a WW interface might be more problematic.

I know it doesnt agree with the villains scheme but it gives the nay sayers something else to whinge about other than the suggestions made so doesnt clog up the suggestion with posts saying 'dont like it because i enjoy telling people there ideas are bad with no real reason behind it'
For these suggestions, though I do have a few comments.

Goes back to my above point about making unconstructive pointless comments for the sake of it.

For other items it would just be visual anyway, not everyone is going to want that part unless they design bases but the WW/BM access terminal from base would get a lot of people buying it to escape the lag and general annoyances in these public areas.
As for the teleport, I realised that after I made the post but forgot to edit perhaps a power that reduces selling fee to 0 in auction for a set amount of time?
Simply because the ones complaining are the ones who usually come on to either flame or make worthless comments all over suggestions board in the first place and offer no constructive feedback other than 'dont like it'.

In a medium based on text, good communication should be made easier when using fonts/colors, etc., not more irritating. You concede that it "doesn't agree with the villains scheme", but still appear to be obstinate in continuing to use it. Why offer to others ways to derail your thread?
[QUOTE]My points been made. The entire point of a booster pack is to get costume pieces in the first place, not just a temp power. Why comment on a post about booster packs that are going to be added anyway (when the devs release them) simply stating you dont agree with them?
Goes back to my above point about making unconstructive pointless comments for the sake of it.{/QUOTE]
I offered my problem with the vast majority of your suggested booster packs - I don't like costumes being the focus of the packs. I like costumes added to the game in free expansions. How is that not offering relevant comments? How is it "unconstructive"? I only wrote one sentence on it because long posts that merely repeat and rehash are not good communication, just long for the sake of being long.
Your suggestions about what may or may not be included in booster packs is speculation and suggestion. I don't like the direction of your speculation and said so. You are correct that the Devs will release booster packs as they choose - but I don't entirely agree that the purpose of the boosters offered so far was to focus on new costume pieces.
All of them except the Wedding pack included a temp power that I see in use frequently in game. Depending upon the player, the temp power might be the more dominant or even exclusive reason to purchase the pack at all. I have especially seen this in comments on Ninja Run from the Natural Booster, although I am rarely on a TF/SF where the team doesn't buff up with Mystic Fortune before starting a new map. On the other hand, some of the costume pieces from the packs seem much more rare (the Wedding Veil, many of the Warrior pieces from Natural, the Witch Hats from Magic, etc.)
No, everyone could see it of course but people clicking on it would get a popup box telling them its not available or something. If it was functional for people that hadnt even bought the pack, no one would buy it other than one person per SG :P For other items it would just be visual anyway, not everyone is going to want that part unless they design bases but the WW/BM access terminal from base would get a lot of people buying it to escape the lag and general annoyances in these public areas. |
I don't have anything much to add to this outside of what I already responded to in Forbin's post - please see that post for my observations.
As for the teleport, I realised that after I made the post but forgot to edit perhaps a power that reduces selling fee to 0 in auction for a set amount of time? |
Over in the Base Construction forum, there are multiple threads suggesting stuff to be added to bases, your WW/BM interface being one of them. Lots of discussion over there as well. You might want to see what others have already said to this idea as you seek "constructive posts" on the topic.
This is my last comment on your communication choices because it is derailing the main topic. But is also likely my last comment in the thread because I think I have offered you feedback and had a nice little discussion with Forbin on the topic, so I have finished with it.
Also - Pro Tip - If you think someone's posts are somehow not in keeping with the rules of this forum - repot the post to a Mod. But my previous posts were not out of line (IMHO) and you do not get to dictate who gets to post or what they post. You can certainly show your disdain by making it uncomfortable for them to read your posts, though.

i like most of the ideas for boosters you had...especially the non-cyborg tech booster and the beast stuff....not really sure about the sg booster imo the boosters should stay character related. though i would never complain if the DID release that lol. i do have a few other suggestions too for boosters...like a booster that adds weapons as costume pieces. i would love for my samurai to draw his sword not just have it pop out of nowhere (drawing the sword may not be a realisitic animation but i would like the sword to BE there). and i like your coment on the pink lol
Power included with set: Predatory Instincts - Your ability to sense stealthy foes increases for a set amount of time as well as your run and jump speed. (click power on a longer recharge, not toggle so you dont make ninja run and this the new travel power to have instead of level 14 powers, also if possible put the player in a run stance where you run on all fours) |
2) NPC Costume pack |
3) New Hair Pack |
4) Futuristic/tech themed pack |
5) Assassin theme Pack Locate Target: Power can be only used inside a mission and it teleports you directly next to one of the required objectives of the map and placates them (if a boss) and his allies for a few seconds, if the target is an object it wont attempt to placate. Very long recharge. Inside Information: After clicking the power, the entire map in area becomes visable and removes the fog of war effect. |
6) Medieval themed pack 7) Aquatic Themed Pack |
Also, it is NOT next to impossible to create a costume of an aquatic character. I have seen many that have impressed me.
and
8) Bling pack |
8) Prehistoric Themed Pack |
Base Items Booster Pack |
P.S. I too hate the "plum" color. It is hard to read in large chunks. And if you say there was nothing constructive in this post... well, then I guess we have differing definitions of what that term means.
With War Witch stating that they are now considering looking towards the suggestion forums for future booster pack ideas after mutation set I have a few suggestions.
1) Animal themed pack - More animal based pieces such as paws, claws, snouts, animated ears that twitch and can take two colours to match the hair colours and more animal heads rather than the beast ones we have. These would include snake heads, feline heads, bear heads, dog heads etc.
Power included with set: Predatory Instincts - Your ability to sense stealthy foes increases for a set amount of time as well as your run and jump speed. (click power on a longer recharge, not toggle so you dont make ninja run and this the new travel power to have instead of level 14 powers, also if possible put the player in a run stance where you run on all fours)
2) NPC Costume pack - Suggested several times, wanted by loads of players, general reason given why not implemented was because it would be difficult to make pieces apply to all genders, such as a BAB's gloves for females. This shouldnt be an issue because if you cant easily copy the piece to a certain charecter build, then dont. Just leave the player to make the choice. Now science pack lets you change builds it shouldnt matter much. PvP wouldnt be much of an issue either because of the names above the heads and different powers to NPC's. The only way you arent going to notice right away that its not an NPC is if they have an illegal name replecating an in game charecter anyway.
3) New Hair Pack - Rather than changing all the current hair pieces in game to be animated, just leave people the option to choose between and have a few created animated hair pieces bundled into a pack, over time more could be added along with other themed packs.
4) Futuristic/tech themed pack - We have a cyborg pack but what about people from the future who arent cyborgs?
Things similar to Foreshadows headpiece, custom weapons that look more futuristic and dual pistols with a HUD display showing which ammo type they currently use by the colour of the HUD. More costumes similar to metallic that we currently have for the style to it, but with a different design would also fit here.
Actual costume pieces could include several futuristic armor style pieces similar to halo master chief armor and mass effect style armor etc.
5) Assassin theme Pack - Players always like to create assassin themed charecters, why not help them? Things included could be new leather bodysuits (using ultra mode ofc) communicators, new emote kneeling to use the communicator, more custom weapons, holsters, quivers, knife belts piece for chest detail, belt and a pants piece with it attached to one leg similar to guild wars assassin.
Power Included either: Assassins Escape Plan - Placate power on a very long recharge and no crit afterwards. Useful for emergencies.
Locate Target: Power can be only used inside a mission and it teleports you directly next to one of the required objectives of the map and placates them (if a boss) and his allies for a few seconds, if the target is an object it wont attempt to placate. Very long recharge.
Inside Information: After clicking the power, the entire map in area becomes visable and removes the fog of war effect.
6) Medieval themed pack - Knights, thieves, kings/queens, bards etc. All these would make a very simple themed pack to implement to the game and would be perfect to add more swords/bows to the game.
7) Aquatic Themed Pack - There is no fishman/women style costume in game right now. You can get scales from reptilian skin but its damn near impossible to make an aquatic based charecter. Fins and gills would be a good addition, back piece could also be a giant fin down your back. Shell based costume pieces and a shell based bikini for females to bring the 'mermaid with legs' thing to CoX. Merman costume pieces could also be included. Fins cant be changed to feet for the same reason that snakes couldnt be added in that way to players but that doesnt mean we cant use other pieces on the legs. Could also include a skuba diving costume.
Power Included either: Harpoon gun - Fires a harpoon at your target, effects up to the devs
Merman Swimming - Toggle power, increases your speed whilst swimming to the same as superspeed but only applies in water.
8) Bling pack - Not sure how popular this one would be but Im throwing it out there anyway, a pack solely dedicated to jewelry pieces and other over the top fashion accessories. Things included could be giant glasses, gold/silver teeth, gold/silver necklaces, giant clock necklace,gold/silver bracelets, piercings for ears (including animal ears), gold/silver weapons and shields. Tied in with this you could have pimp costumes as well and american rapper style things.
costume change emote involving throwing money into the air and enveloping you whilst you change.
Power Included either: In the Money - For the next 5-15 minutes your influence/infamy earned is doubled, long recharge.
Gamble - Throw a dice or draw a card, depending on the number it depends what you get buffwise. Self minor buff on a long recharge.
8) Prehistoric Themed Pack - Caveman and dinosaur themed pack, could include several dinosaur themed piecs such as dinosaur claws, dinosaur heads and dinosaur feet. Caveman pieces are pretty much self explanatory.
Power Included: Dinosaur pet - A pet summon that does nothing in game but follows you around, similar to the vet reward pets we have now. If they gave a buff however or fought for you then they should be on a very long recharge, otherwise theres no harm in allowing them to be out permanently.
Also to add to the general plan of booster packs one more 'different' idea:
Base Items Booster Pack - More items for your SG base available. Biggest suggestion is a black market/wentworths access computer for your sg base which several players want especially to avoid the lag in these places right now.
Power Included: Base Teleporter - You can teleport from anywhere to your base but its on a very long recharge.
------------------------------------------
As you can see theres plenty of ideas there... I didnt realise I had so many until i started writing lol. What you think?
