You could do a sort of "space race" thing, but the prize was to be the first to the Well of Furies, and the Soviets won.

Seems more like a commentary or wry observation than a retcon to me. 
Of course the FArt Mistress is the one who matters but personally I think I'd need to see a StatesmanCycle or such for it to be a retcon...
(Your mileage, and Wassy's, may vary - I'd just check with her before you got too far invested...)
Answered this via PM, but this would be very tricky to qualify. The travel powers are more of a game mechanic than a story element, and we're looking for retcons to the game's cannon or your characters' backgrounds that change the CoH/V world.
To do this, you'd really have to find where a travel power is integral to story elements, and play with that.
That's kind of why I was thinking a StatesCycle... Current Statesman can fly - The retcon would be all about what if he couldn't? Kind of a "Here's how he became a huge hero even w/o the powers" type thing...
How about this: What if Marcus Cole had a motorcycle with him on that fateful day - instead of drinking from that fountain himself, what if Marcus had poured the "special" water from that "special" fountain INTO the gas tank on his motorcycle!
StatesCycle was born!

Hey Pyro. What if, in your retcon, the evnets leading up to the creation of the PTA (Paragon Transit Authority) never happened, so there were no trams... some heroes would need to find alternate transportation. Would that make it work for ya?
Hmm, they're both technically retcon's. . I suppose one could question how one is showing it through the art but *shrug*. Luckily I'm not the FArt Mistress having to decide these things!

How's everyone's entry coming along? The deadline is creeping up on us.
I just got an idea, but need to confirm a detail. Am I right that Ms. Liberty is actually much older than her appearance? I looked up but wasn't able to find her actual age, the only clue being Statesman is her grandfather and he's been around for a long time. Or am I confusing her with Sister Psyche, whose bio states that "she does not age physically while in another's mind"?
If they both are much older than they look, who do you guys think is a better symbol for timeless beauty?
