Goin' Staminaless. Willpower or Energy Aura

Hey fellow Stalkers. I'm lookin' to roll up a new MA Stalker and need some guidance. As with most Stalkers the build's lookin' really tight. I wanna skip Stamina to give me some breathing room. Willpower and Energy Aura both fit my concept so I need to know which makes for a better Staminaless toon. Thanks for your help.

Willpower doesn't have any tools for mitigating endurance problems.

Energy Aura has a PBAoE endurance drain ability with a very short recharge that will refill your endurance with only two targets in the radius, and is autohit. It also heals you a tiny bit per target in the radius, up to an amount comparable to Reconstruction if you hit the target cap with it.

EA would be the better choice if endurance is what you're afraid of having problems with.

Yup, Quick Recovery is the power that was removed to fit in Hide.

Actually I think Reconstruction was replaced with Quick Recovery. Willpower's first power (forgot the name) was removed for Hide.

Exxar is correct.
What are you planning on taking instead? Fighting?

I'm considering several different options including Fighting. But my main problem is just fitting in standards like a travel power by 14 and Stamina by 20. I don't have any experience with Martial Arts or Willpower so I'm pretty lost in regards to which powers I should prioritize and which ones can be postponed.

The order of the powers was shuffled around a bit, but other than that there were two changes: Quick Recovery was replaced by Hide, and Rise to the Challenge was replaced by Reconstruction.

And with those changes they may have had renamed the set as well IMO, stalker WP is nothing like brute/scrapper/tank WP. Other stalker secondaries have much fewer and not nearly as radical changes from their brute/scrapper/tank counterparts.

You'll have a hard time fitting in both a travel power by 14 and Stamina by 20. That's often a problem on brute/scrapper builds, but it's even more pronounced on Stalker builds because of needing to stuff in AS, BU and Placate besides all the regular attacks.

This the best way to fit both of them by 20, IMO:

Notice how you have neither BU (Focus Chi), High Pain Tolerance nor Mind Over Body. That's a pretty steep sacrifice if you ask me. You could stuff in one of them instead of Thunder Kick, but then your attack chain will utterly suck. Therefor, I suggest something like this:

Till 30 You can get by with the Raptor and Zero-G packs you get on mayhems, and Ninja Run if you have it. But now we have a new problem: you're not anywhere near Tough or Weave. You have two options: respec at about 32 when you don't need Thunder Kick to fill your attack chain and take Boxing instead so that you can get Tough at 38 and Weave at 41, or don't take Thunder Kick at all and get by with unslotted Boxing from lvl 8 instead.

Thanks for the sample builds. I really appreciate the direction. I agree that the first build sacrifices way too much to accomplish my goals. The second build makes more sense but I'm curious as to how important having Tough and Weave are for a Stalker. Is the survivability enhanced significantly by having the two powers?

For a toon with a secondary whose main strength are its several layers of protection (resistance, defense, healing, regeneration), both of them greatly enhance survivability.

I see. Hmm...one last question since you seem to have access to Mids at this time. Which IO sets provide significant bonuses to Recovery? Would it be possible to slot for them at lower levels without sacrificing too much in the way of Regen, Defense and Recharge?

Even before looking for sets that provide recovery (or rather endurance, you use sets that increase your endurance because they give bigger recovery bonuses than sets that actually give recovery bonuses, because of the way endurance and recovery work), I'm pretty sure that would be impossible because of extremely low supply of low-level recipes on the market. But I can't check the actual supply at the moment so I may as well be off.

Btw, the sets you're primarily looking at are Impervium Armor (resistance), Gift of the Ancients (defense) and Eradication (PBAoE damage). There are others, but you won't be able to slot them in significant quantities of each because of the powers they go into and the powers you have available as a stalker.

EDIT: If you go MA/WP, you won't be able to slot Eradication because you won't have any PBAoE attacks, but you should be able to slot enough of both Impervium Armor and Gift of the Ancients.

EDIT2: If you are asking this as a way to skip Stamina, I don't think it will work, not even if you use higher-level recipes that are readily available. Your recovery will be lesser than if you haven't slotted for +end at all and fully slotted Stamina instead. And if you do take Stamina, you shouldn't have any endurance problems anyway.

A sort of middle of the road approach would be to take Health and slot the +recovery uniques in it. With both you would get the equivalent recovery of unslotted Stamina.

Of course you only save one power choice that way, as opposed to three power picks if you skip the Fitness pool altogether, but it's a third option anyway.

You can build wp staminaless pretty easy.

Or you can forget about health and put them in Fast Healing.

BTW OP, my DM/EA does fine without Stamina, Energy Drain is awesome.
