Lovecraft aside, you said things tend to happen on Tuesdays. I'd like to know what specific things you are referring to.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

McDonalds was sued because the woman who ordered it got 3rd degree burns over her lower torso and upper thighs. I actually wound up looking at the case, and it's not as stupid as it sounded.

On the other hand, "pain and suffering" from a game expansion being late may get you a suggestion to seek help for your addiction, but it won't get you any money.

I'm sure a person more versed in law than I can come up with many more stupid (yet successful) lawsuits; that's just an example that I could think of ottomh.

I chose the wording "pain and suffering" because that is also what came to mind at the time. I would imagine an actual lawyer could think of a hundred inane things to sue NCSoft for far more compelling than "pain and suffering." I will be the first to admit that I don't have a Juris Doctor, however.

Agreed. The media labeled it frivilous but the facts say otherwise.

Since you appear to be asking the question seriously: Issue releases have historically tended to be on Tuesdays. Most likely this is because it leaves Monday to run any final checks and Wednesday-Friday to run around screaming and putting out any fires that result from the patch before the weekend.

Issue 2, IIRC, launched on a Thursday, which turned out to be a mistake they have never, ever repeated.

It's been historically half and half about Tuesdays, but it has been, more often than not, a Tuesday release of patches, issues, updates, etc.

I suspect Tuesday is indeed chosen because Monday is spent taping back together what broke over the weekend, at least in my experience it is anyway.

YMMV

EDIT: On another post in this forum, someone broke down the days things were released outside of a Tuesday vs. uhm, inside a Tuesday. It came up 9 to 9. So chances are things'll happen on a Tuesday, but I don't have the fancy mathematics degree from the university of smartarse to tell you numbers.

People make mistakes, and the Devs are people, if a = b, then...

Either way, I'm REALLY looking forward to DS, since we haven't had a new MM primary since Thugs, and I'm a MM at heart anyway. If we don't get it in April, yeah, I'll be disappointed, I'll probably participate in a DOOOOM thread, but ultimately, I'd want it to work before they release it, rather than let a big mess just slop itself all over our shoes.

And of course, the old man fell asleep before seeing your reply. And I don't have my chart with me, so I'll just refer you to a post made a few days ago. You can see from the chart in the post that it is just about as likely that they'll release a patch on a day that isn't Tuesday as it is that they'll release a patch on Tuesday. Yes, Tuesday is the day they've most often released the patch, but it's close to 50/50 as to whether it will be Tuesday or a Non-Tuesday.

People have repeated the fallacy that patches always come on Tuesdays so long that I decided to make a chart and keep track of it. It's been repeated so much that people that have seen 1 patch come in repeat it as gospel. Just doing my part to keep information accurate.

That is why I said tended. Tended to be.

I'm well aware that it's not always on Tuesday, which is why I chose the words I did. And looking at the release history after the three days of hotfixing the Issue 2 launch debacle we've got 8 Tuesdays, 4 Wednesdays, and 2 other, which is sufficient in my mind to qualify as a tendency.

Trust me, I well remember the Issue 2 debacle.

That was the only time in the history of this game that I've had long waits (days long at times) for GM's to respond to /petition filings.

I shudder every time I think about that weekend. For being my "relaxation time" it was so not relaxing.

And yes, I saw that you said tended, which is why I didn't label yours as a fallacy. I point to the chart just so others can see it.

It's amazing how many people still swear that Issue Releases are always on Tuesday.

I figured it out! The pre-download is CONCLUSIVE proof that i17 will be....

Released, at some point. Yes folks, 100% of issues that have had pre-downloads have later been released.

It would surprise me if i17 does not get pushed to May, with demon summoning getting a separate release this month. But I have no inside knowledge.

I just ran the Test updater and it dled and applied a 3.1 Gig patch. I've kept my Test client current as I run it every day to see if I got into the CB.

Not that it's relevant anymore, but the Test Client patch was 3.1G whilst the Live prepatch was 2.8G, for me at least.

I am going to agree with whoever (too tired to go back and find the post) it was that stated it will be released on the 27th. Think of it, what better way to celebrate an anniversary than with release of a graphics "upgrade" and some new content, can also tie in the new badge at the same time. Just makes sense....to me at least.
