Inactive account question

So I have been playing another game for a couple of months and I would like to inactivate CoH until after the new issue comes out. Does everything, including enhancements stay on their servers waiting for me to resubscribe later so I can come back to all of my goodies? Has anybody here unsubscribed for a while before?

Everything stays.

Yep, worse case scenario is you will lose your name, but currently that can only happen to characters under level 5. There are no garuntees that PS won't choose to change the level range though.

... and even that has to have NC or PS run a script to free up, plus it has to be over 90 days inactive.

Cool, thanks. Paying for 3 games is a bit much. I will juggle my subscriptions.

One cautionary note:

If your account is inactive, after 60 days* anything on the market will be removed. Bids, inf from sales, items stored and not posted.

Empty your market slots.

*Player testing showed it to be the 1st server maintenance after the 60 day window

Um... that was removed some time ago, if I'm recalling correctly.

Edit: wiki entry:

Inactivity

Previously, at the time of server maintenance, any characters not logged in for 60 days would have their consignment items deleted. However that changed with the release of Issue 14 (April 07, 2009).
Characters (on active accounts) who have inventories, bids or items for sale in the Black Market or in Wentworth's Consignment House will no longer have to log into the game within 60 days to avoid item or influence/infamy expiration. In-game Black Market and Wentworth employees will still give their friendly reminder, however if your account is "active", they won't take your "stuff".
Note: The definition of "inactive", now refers to an account whose subscription is no longer paid for. Yet there is still some question as to whether the consignment item deletion for inactive accounts also has the 60 day grace period.
(emphasis mine)

When was the testing done?

Or so they said, better not to take the risk if it's unnecesary

No. Previously, it applied to everyone. Now it no longer applies to active accounts. If your account goes inactive long enough, you lose everything on the market. We've had people come in here and pitch a fit over it.

See, my question over that, though, would be how long ago did they leave? The change went through in April of last year - did they leave by December of 08, in which case their accounts would have been stuck under the old rule in any case? Or did they leave for 60+ days after that took effect?

That's why I asked, when was the testing done?

I wish girlfriends were more like this game.

"Honey, I've been dating some other people for a few months now, and there's this one I really like. I want to dump you for a few months, but I just want to make sure that if I don't like her, or get bored, that I can still come back to you. For a little while."

Another thing, you stop your progress for veteran's rewards when you deactivate.

I first registered for this game in late 2007 but I've been inactive for most of that time, so instead of having my 32 month veteran's to look forward to I waiting on my 12 month reward.

The testing to show that the items were removed during the 1st maintenance after the date was under the old style removal, when it applied to active accounts.

*trying to decide if it's worth $15 for me to try to remember to let an account go inactive, then reactivate it 60+ days later for no reason other than to see if items vanish or not.*

... yes, I think I have an unused COV (original!) box around here somewhere, thus only $15, but still.
