A 3D Option?
yeah was playing Modern Warfare 2 like this eariler today and was wondering... Hmm what about city of heroes. The built in nVidia drivers work great with everything else I tried but CoH just seems to load up normally, and I hope this isn't because its open GL >.<
Combat Kangaroos, Justice Server. First 50's
Jirra Roo Plant/Storm/Stone/Musculature Controller
Combat Kangaroo Rifle/Energy/Mace/Spiritual Blaster
Kung Fu Kangaroo Martial Arts/Reflexes/Body/Spiritual Scrapper
Tribal Arc Shield/Elec/Mu/Spiritual Tanker
There are several solutions and they are all fairly easy to do...
Realistically all they'd have to do is add a second camera to the code and and a layered or dual screen settings thing... it just doesn't seem worth it to me to do at the moment.

necro thread...thou shall goeth away......
I don't normally do this, but even though it doesn't detract from my gaming experience, I'm still going to argue against the inclusion of stereoscopic 3D in City of Heroes.
As far as I'm concerned, coloured paper glasses 3D needs to die in a fire. It's a dead-end technology that, despite its recent and inexplicable popularity, is an utter dead end. Fake hologram perspective does more to hurt your eyes than it does to improve the experience. It relies on light-filtering glasses, which dull and dim the image, it causes confusion and detracts from the actual contents of what you're seeing and even when it works perfectly, your brain simply tunes it out almost on the spot. I've avoided watching movies in 3D before, but I couldn't avoid watching Avatar in 3D because that's the only ******* version of the movie they show in cinemas. After giving myself a headache, a bad case of crosseye and missing practically half of what happened in that movie, I'm determined to never see anything in 3D ever again. The faster this gimmick dies, the faster something actually decent can be invented, or at the very worst, we can watch movies and play games the old-fashioned way without gimmicks interfering with the experience. |
See, there is no setup, no annoying fiddly hack to get 3D to work, I tell nVidia drivers to enable 3D, I select the type, then tada, my games work, pop on the red/blue or if you're lucky enough to own a specific monitor. A friend of mind owned a pair of 3D goggles years ago, the goggles were basically 2 lcd screens with the different images on them, playing Mech Warrior 2 was out of this world. Its been a very untapped segment that now due to these 3D movies and whatnot, is just becomming to see the light of day again. I'm glad that at least nVidia made it painless.
now, about CoH ....
Combat Kangaroos, Justice Server. First 50's
Jirra Roo Plant/Storm/Stone/Musculature Controller
Combat Kangaroo Rifle/Energy/Mace/Spiritual Blaster
Kung Fu Kangaroo Martial Arts/Reflexes/Body/Spiritual Scrapper
Tribal Arc Shield/Elec/Mu/Spiritual Tanker
Enough with the 3D. It's stupid.
For how many people that could actually use a 3d setting...its not worth the time and effect atm..due to not many people having the ability
It's not because of the novelty, but because of the additional immersive effect.
