What server economies?

All US servers use the same blue-side house and same red-side house, regardless of server - so if you put something for sale on Freedom, someone from Triumph can buy it.

Same for the EU servers.

So there's a US/EU divide, and in both areas, a red/blue divide.

The individual servers don't have their own separate economies.

Incorrect: the EU and the US use the same markets. The only divide is blue/red.

Is anyone else's mouse cursor invisible almost all the time once in-game? Mine flickers and is only partially visible when moving.

A grand 6.3meg patch, no less. Anyhow, the full message says:

Quote:
This computer has a video card capable of using the new Ultra Mode settings like reflections and shadows. You can now change your settings or choose cancel to keep your current settings. All graphics options are always available from the in-game options menu.

Quality - Enables Ultra Mode features at low settings.
Ultra - Enables Ultra Mode features at high settings, there is a risk of lower performance at these settings.

Warning! Choosing either preset will override any custom graphics settings you have currently chosen.
With any luck, Quality is the same level of demand that current Quality has. Not betting on it (in fact, I'd bet against it), but that's my hope.

Note: I did not log in to get this message - it was automatically displayed upon the game client (not the launcher) starting. So far as I know I'm not violating anything.

And no, I'm not in the CB

edit: And for the record - Radeon 4670. Given that its noticeably wimpier than a GeForce 9800 GT, I'm not putting much faith into it running Ultra mode at settings I would find desirable.

Well, it says I qualify for Ultra mode! NVIDIA GeForce GTS 240 here; I don't know where that ranks in the video card hierarchy however. New computer though, which should help.

I have a GeForce 8400GS and it passed, set it for Quality. Just to see how it will work come OP.

I set mine for Ultra. I tend to be the kind of person who starts out at the top and then cuts things off as I go to make it work rather than start from the bottom and add on :P

Hoping I don't have to take anything off, considering I built this computer to run Crysis on the upper end of its settings (I can run the highest graphics settings with a slight drop in screen rate, just slightly below the highest and I work fine) But like I said I have a GeForce 9800GT which according to their shopping list isn't that high up on the hierarchy so I don't know how it'll come out. Seems funny that a 6 year old game will take more to run at highest settings than Crysis :P

The quality setting that is current in the live build is that same setting, but without the low setting of Ultra mode. The settings that the client discussed was a combo of Quality and low settings of Ultra Mode combined, from what I can tell. It will NOT have the same "level of demand" as far as graphics cards.

This is my speculation: (Regardless of all this bellow you still have to have a card that supports OpenGL 3.0 or you can't use Ultra Mode.)

If your card is just "ok" at running normal Quality, it most likely won't run GREAT on low settings on Ultra Mode. If you try to run Ultra Mode at medium or high you might as well set your computer on fire.

If your card runs "GREAT" with no hiccups at all in regular Quality, it will probably run Ultra mode low level no problem! Medium MAYBE, but High could be iffy...

If you can run games like Crysis on full settings and have a graphics card that costs more than what some people on here spent on their computers, you should have no problem running Ultra Mode on it's highest settings. Not saying this is a requirement for high setting, just stating that those people will have no problem

Sorry for the long post. I'm just getting my speculation out there!

I believe the idea is to provide enough room at the top for just about anyone, while providing improvement for anyone with a fairly good but not necessarily top of the line machine. I do wonder about diminishing returns though; after a while that last little bit of extra rendering of shadows and reflections isn't likely to be all that noticeable.

Oh, DUH. I had absolutely no idea. It's not something that's really that obvious, aside from the frequency of purchases in the sale history of items. I guess I just assumed that the auctions were server-specific.

Ya CPU's and memory can have a big impact on the graphics as well a lot of people don't realize that!

I have a Dell Inspiron with ATI Radeon HD 3200 integrated graphics and it said I qualified for Ultra-Mode. Saying I was shocked would be an understatement of epic proportions.

I'm not even going to believe it will be capable of much since dual boxing didn't work so hot.

I hate to even think how bad the performance would be. Fortunately I could care less about Ultra-Mode. I didn't intend to hover in front of windows admiring my reflection or stand in one place watching the shadows move as the sun passed over.

this pretty much sums it up.

There have been 2 servers on the EU test for over a year now and last I logged on there were 3 so nothing new about this - there is still only one that anyone except the dev team can log into on each server farm.
The others will be used to test anything that operates cross server and other things that are not ready to go into closed beta but still require the same sort of environment.

Yes, the developers want a smaller amount of players who understand what a Beta is, and are going to provide useful feedback and testing, feedback and testing that Open Beta's generally do not provide.

However, there still is the issue of players on the test server that have only transferred one or two characters in, or only have one or two characters created on the test server.

Importing an existing server's character list allows the developers to have a wider range of avatars available for testers to use, without requiring those testers to sit at the transfer queu and manually select which characters to transfer over. It's a LOT QUICKER for the developers to do the import themselves.

Open betas do provide useful feedback and testing. I don't like your elitism when it comes to betas.

Ahh. Remember, kids, "Fact" and "Experience" = "Elitism!"
