Sorry for the delay in posting, this month had a much lower turnout than I anticipated, and so I'll be taking a much longer break from these, probably not until after Going Rogue is released. Nevertheless, on to the voting!

Best Short Arc

  • You may vote for one arc in any or all categories - those with one mission, two missions, or three missions.
  • In the One Mission category, please make a first and second choice.
  • Voting will be open until April 12th at 11:59pm EST.
  • Nominees may vote however they choose to.

I think the relative dearth of entries illustrates the limited amount of 1,2 abd 3-mission arcs out there compared to the 5-mission arcs that seem to be the norm.

There're 2 new arcs for me to play here though, and afaic the best thing about these awards is getting new arcs to play and comment on.*

I'll say right off the bat that I'm not voting for myself btw. Not cricket IMO

GL everyone!

The two of these that I have played (besides mine obviously) were so long ago that I'm sure tons of stuff has changed. However considering the length of the arcs, blasting through all of these shouldn't take much time at all. I'd guess that my own arc will probably be the most lengthy time-wise.

I probably won't vote for myself either. I'd feel like a real dick.

I didn't double check it because I was familiar with it from the first PCs. It must have been unpublished.

I also could not find it, but when searching on Gno Man, I found some interesting titles including "How many ninjas can fit in a casino?", "Smurfs Want Our Women", and "I am an empty mission. Please ignore me."

I tried it by ID first and I can't find it. Can you still find it?

I'm working my way through at the moment as well, and I cannot find Eagor to Please through name or ID.

Bad Voodoo by @Beyond Reach. Arc ID #373659. Level 20-24. Mr. Bocor has fallen victim to a group of hooded vigilantes who have been plaguing Port Oakes, interfering with illegal operations and pacifying villain's powers. He demands that revenge is taken on these miscreants and his powers are returned! You look like just the villain for the job. Challenging.

If arc slots were unlimited, I would be a lot more willing to spend one of mine on a one-mission trifle. People are going to want to make the most of limited resources.

My votes for Best One Mission Arc:

1: Don't Freak #384769 by @Gypsy Rose
2: Jabberwocky #1573 by @Rodion

Side note: I nominated Extadine Lab for the competition but hadn't played it since early AE...unfortunately, it hasn't aged well. The newer 1 mission arcs really outshine it, it's amazing how much story and concept can fit into 1 simple mission.

If we could choose a different contact for each mission, I'd use the other 4 slots available on Storming Citadel to make a sort of Anthology arc. My arc The Audition is pretty much that sort of thing, actually, but the contact linking the six otherwise unconnected missions does provide a common theme that runs through it. As it stnds, Storming Citadel couldn't really be used as a jumping off point for more missions.

I'm afraid I have to disagree with this.... in my opinion, a story should be just as long as you need to tell the story, and no longer. Padding a story out to be 5 missions just because you can, ends up weakening the story.

Or, I suppose you might mean that it's only worthwhile to write 5-mission long story arcs, maxing out the available space; but I don't think I agree with that either. Sometimes short arcs are more fun.

I definitely believe that the shorter story arcs are perceived as "more accessible" for the casual player, and are more likely to get casual plays by people browsing the AE interface. The "Very Long" story arcs with 5 missions are a bit intimidating and may be more time commitment than someone is willing to make at any given time.... whereas I've seen at least two people say "Oh, I went ahead and tried Storming Citadel because I knew it would only be 10 minutes, so I had time for it." That's two plays that the arc picked up for being short, that it might not have otherwise gotten.

I think it's just one vote for the two and three-mission arcs?

Indeed, even with 8 slots making a 1-mission "arc" (can you even call it an arc?) seems like a waste of potential when I have more ideas for 4/5-mission ones than I have room for.

Anyhow:
