LMAO.....poor Predatoric. Asked a simple question and look what happens. All he wanted is to get a smidge of info which he believed may help him to get the most out of his traps toon......and all he is hearing is how awful and useless it is. Ya'll are a mean group, lol.

If it's fun for you to play, Predatoric.....that's all that matters. I have a great time on my fire/dev blaster and it has many similarities to traps. It's fun and that's really all that matters to me. I don't get killed much more or less on him than many other toons i have. Also, while caltrops may "only" be good for breaking hide.........that's really all I need them for. Taking away their Hide+AS is neutralizing their hardest hitting power.....what more should it do?

I agree, it can be played offensively very much like a /Dev blaster... Only thing really needed in the set for this is approach is Web, Posion Trap, Acid Trap, Seekers, and possibly FFG. Traps' lack of mobility is a choice made by the people that play it... it's not mandatory in any way, shape, or form for a non-MM Traps toon.

Caltrops are also good for the -fly and -jump effect applied to target. Many places in a zone like dumpsters and those really small pools in RV make for some good places to TP a Foe (after they've been webbed first of course) Having caltrops down keeps people from SS/stealthing over mines and traps... and in these locations caltrops keep you from having to rely on web spamming.

The difficulty or bad rep doesn't come from bad powers.... it's comes from the fact that one actully has to get people into them. I like the challenge of that. I can see how the difficulty of doing so however... is enough for some players to call it a bad set.

When other sets can do the same thing better and faster, and with less effort, yes, it makes it a bad set.

Get off of MIDs and stop preaching from the numbers Mac.

Better damage than 16 mines at once?

Stronger debuff than stacked Seekers, 6 Posion Traps, or 3 Acid Traps?

My point was that the potential of the set compares to none. The challenge of the set is getting it to it's full potential.

Better, faster, and with less effort come from practice... not Builds.

Well, I cheat to get folks into my mines/caltrops. I use tp foe and webnades. But the dmg from a bunch of mines is seriously sick. I can melt the toughest foe with ease using those things. Yes it can be a pain to set them up sometimes when folks are really moving about the zone......but when they aren't...its lawls of fun. I only wish i had more range on my tp foe LOL!

In the time it's taken you to set up 16 mines, waiting for someone to run into them and hoping for one kill, I've probably got half a dozen or more kills because I'm mobile.

You need to start thinking outside of the box.

Some day Mac, when you want your Kill/Death ratio to plummet you'll start thinking "outside the box" too.

Last night in RV on Freedom this poor Traps Defender couldn't even catch a break sitting in a pill box surrounded by a team of heroes. Was fun watching em try though.
