If someone were to make a live action coh movie, would you go see it?
I would definitely pay to see it.
I also believe that someone could make a good movie out of Web of Arachnos.
I would go see it for sure...
for another question...
Who would play your hero/vill in the movie?
I cast Jude law for mine...
No one goes there anymore, it's too crowded...
"The potato goes in the FRONT."
I'd go see it if that put Bill Z Bubba in it. And I got to play him. I'd be happy to sit in a chair for 6 hours every morning getting all the makeup and prosthetics put on.
Make it CGI/animated? I can do his voice.
Be well, people of CoH.
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

I'd see a movie based on the Rikti War. That would also solve a lot of game-to-film issues like the War Walls, hospital transporters and the Rouge Isles since those things either wouldn't yet exist or wouldn't really impact the plot.
When I say "see it", I suppose I mean "...on Blu-Ray" since the chance of my wife going to see it with me is about nil.
But I only spoke to the darkness in our hearts. Are you saying you actually have a voice? I'd be scared to ask

That's Bill's voice.
Be well, people of CoH.
You're darn skippy I'd see it. Even if the chances of suck were relatively high, there's always the possibility of a reboot later on if it fails yet had an audience. Sadly I cannot offer my voice for my characters. It's the pitfall of a male playing females, especially when that male has a deep voice with a pronounced Southern drawl.
Isn't Bill Z the player ex-Navy? Those guys always seem to have deep gravelly voices. Think Wolverine when voiced by Mark Hamill. Perfect for a cigar-chomping devil.
ex-Army.
Be well, people of CoH.
CoX on the big screen?
Of course I would love to see that.
After all it is City of Heroes.
But I just wonder, if to appeal to the game's fans and players, if Statesman would have to die at the end?
I believe I would avoid it like the plague. The setting is too built around silly conventions put in to explain "gamey" elements. Heck, the whole Rogue Isles thing is pretty ridiculous, just to start with, the concept of heroes being paid to fight crime is tenuous at best, hospital teleporters, canon characters who can bring the dead back to life, the war walls... That's just off the top of my head.
Honestly it would make a lousy movie setting. |
BrandX Future Staff Fighter
The BrandX Collection
I would definitely go see it...and I would buy it on DVD....and also buy a Director's Cut if they released that later....
I guess I kinda collect COH/X stuff...I have the retail and collector's editions of both COH and COV...a pre paid time card box for COH and COV...the COV pre-order box...2 copies of Good vs Evil as they have different covers and the Architect Edition....I will be buying Going Rogue...
I have both runs of comics and buy every in game item or pack...
Doesn't matter if it is live action or CG...good or bad....I would be there in line for the theatre or in the store to buy it if it was direct to DVD...
"A great love is alot like a good memory. When it's there and you know it's there, but it's just out of your reach. It can be all that you think about. You can focus on it and try to force it but the more you do, the more you seem to push it away. But if you're patient and hold still...maybe...just maybe...it will come to you. I just need to be somewhere she can find me" - Church from Red vs Blue
I would not go see it.
Like Memphis Bill, the interest in the game to me is my character not the Mary Sues of the developers. I think many of the story elements in the game are corny, half-planned or just not very interesting, so a movie about those things would be boring to me.
I dunno. Depends.
Are we talking like "James Cameron Presents: CITY OF HEROES!"
Or are we talking about some Uwe Boll schlock-fest?
It really DOES make a difference.
Still, I'd love to see my namesake cameoed in there.
Sitting around waiting for a massive strike, and bust out with the Ghost Widow joke.
Dead silence
"Aw come on guys! It's funny! I swear!"
*Looks around and see's a bunch of dead soldiers and Ghost Widow.*
"Aw sh*SOULSTORM!*
Honestly it would make a lousy movie setting.
Other game devices could be explained and used in the story lines. The hospital transporters, for example, could be explained as retro-engineering off of Ritki salvage from the first war. And in the film version, they may not always work. Portal Corp would be a perfect explanation for many of the dramatic differences between our world and the world of CoH. Our world developed differently: a world without superpowers and super technological advances.
I think what would really be needed though, are explainations that bring the non-player movie goers up to speed. There may need to be flashbacks, say in the titles, that show the opening of Pandora's Box, the increase of crime in Paragon City, the acts that authorize registered vigilante force, who Nemesis is (since he kicked off the war), things like that.
If, as has been suggested, the film is set around the time of the first Rikti War, then hospital transporters are not available, and death is huge in the war (assuming a healer cannot get to the downed fighter in time) The War Walls would not be there at first but would be added in as the story progressed. They may even be visually interpreted differently, like say, pure force fields that could go up a lot faster than miles of concrete (even with the help of heroes)
To the thread question, yes I'd go see it, if I had some assurance that it was crafted well.
