New power icon set available: Shiny domed glass button power icons.

  • Same colour scheme as original power icons
  • Glossy domed glass button finish
  • Incorporates (most of) Vanden's power icon corrections (to date)
  • Includes reworks of the Booster Pack power icons for Cyborg Self-Destruction, Mystic Fortune, Ninja Run, and Secondary Mutation, as well as Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning power sets
  • Icon pack contains over 1200 icons, including all primary, secondary, pool, and ancillary/patron, temporary, inherent, PVP, Accolade, Mayhem, and Going Rogue Alignment powers (possibly others as well)

Figured the power icons needed a little love, seeing as how the whole game's graphics aspect is being kicked up a notch with Issue 17.

Together, all three packs provide a consistent and comprehensive GUI "face-lift"
Installation from the ZIP file is the same process for all of the update files:
Open the .ZIP file in Windows, then copy the "data" folder from the .ZIP file into your CoH programme directory — usually C:\Program Files\City of Heroes (*).
… OR …
For WinZip users, extract files into your CoH programme directory — usually C:\Program Files\City of Heroes (*) directory, select "Use folder names" if option is available.

(*) For 64-bit versions of Windows, C:\Program Files (x86)\City of Heroes
THE FULL MONTY!!! Get all of it here (updated as of 15 March 2012)
(including the original Chiclets Inspiration pack, plus some unannounced extras!)

This icon pack was created with the use of multiple software applications, not the least of which is GuyPerfect's Icon Compiler. Thanks for creating that, GP (it has really made it a whole lot easier to create large numbers of visually consistent icon graphics)!

Previews would've been nice. However , I just happen to be in need of something to procrastinate. Love it so far. Look forward to the complete release

Thanks, Ramen. You're a step (or two) ahead of me. I was hoping to get previews done sometime today to add here.

Additionally, those orange teleport and mystic fortune icons aren't mine. Those are Vanden's designs, but everything else seems to be mine (nearly, see below).

By the way, the AE power icon is the default (one I missed when I listed the icons I haven't gotten done just yet). Also, several of the Veteran power icons in your preview don't appear to be mine.

I really like the design your making on these, really adds another layer of 'shiny' to everything. combined with Ultra Mode, i think your power icons are a great addition. i like the changes your doing with the vet rewards and booster pack powers (that blue for the self destruct is just pretty)

Thank you alot for the time invested.

Combat Jumping and Super Jump aren't icons, they're pixelated blocks, for me. Has anyone else had this problem?

It's entirely possible that the icon pixelation could have been caused by some corruption in compressing some of the icon texture files.

I will look at that when I get home from work today. If I need to, I can provide a non-compressed .zip file of the icons. Thanks for the heads-up on that.

I will also try to put together a more comprehensive preview of the icons, particularly the customised ones (Cyborg self-destruction, Mystic Fortune, &c).

The Jump pool power icons are borked for me in that exact way, too. All the rest look pretty darned sharp, though.

I don't suppose I can get Bug Hunter from that?

If it were mine to give, you would be at least a step closer to attaining it

I don't know if it makes any difference but the leaping pool icons didn't have the same problem for me.

The part that really confuses me is that the leaping pool icons (and only those ones) became that pixellated mess after I installed this new icon patch. But, I went into the directory and replaced them with the ones from Vidiots, and they didn't change back to normal. When I deleted them, the icons became blank white squares, but it doesn't want to seem to accept anything other than those distorted, pixellated non-icons.
That you're not having this problem, and the two of us are, is disturbing.

Honestly, those look amazing and I'd love to have them. Except I never cared for Vanden's replacement icons to be honest, and I d rather not have those. Any chance you'd do a version with just shiny versions of all the original icons?

I've actually considered doing just that, but it would have to wait until I finish this set, the Dual Pistols, Demon Summoning, the Accolade powers, and the face-lift which I'm planning for the Inspirations (!!! I feel that I do have to say that I have some misgivings about duplicating icons we know for a fact are inaccurate. Let me think on it some.

I should add that there is one icon in my set which I believe differs from Vanden's: Plant Control's Carrion Creepers. In my set, it is a Summon-4 symbol, rather than the Knockback symbol (or whatever he is using there).

Those of you having difficulties with some of the icons: if you haven't done so already, try deleting the texture files (all of them), and re-downloading the zip file and re-extracting them. If that fails, I should have a non-compressed zip file of these icons available later today.

Well that'd be great! Personally I just as soon have the original icons in that sweet glossy finish over the switched ones. I'm very used to the way the icons look, even if they are inaccurate, It's jarring to me to see completely different icons. Anyway that'd be really cool if you did that, you know, whenever you get to it.

Okay,

I have just re-zipped the icons into a new zip file (link in OP has been updated). This zip file is uncompressed, just on the off chance that the compression was responsible for the glitch. Of course, this file is larger, but it's still only around 5 or 6 MB.

Here's the URL again, just in case: http://www.4shared.com/file/24271791..._Icons_v2.html

Dinner bell's ringing, so I'll be back later with more info. Refer to my previous post for troubleshooting (such as it is).

"A great love is alot like a good memory. When it's there and you know it's there, but it's just out of your reach. It can be all that you think about. You can focus on it and try to force it but the more you do, the more you seem to push it away. But if you're patient and hold still...maybe...just maybe...it will come to you. Here's a patchwork-like sampler of the icons in this set:

These graphics are magnified 1½ times for increased clarity/visibility.

The gold "planet-with-stars" icon and the seven colour-matched icons further down are the Mystic Fortune icons.

The second icon on the top row is the new Cyborg Self Destruction icon

And notice the actual axe in the Ghost Slaying Axe (both temporary and veteran power).

Any success with resolving the misbehaving Leaping Power Pool icons, folks?
