Honestly, I think that the Veteran program is rather, ah, unsatisfying in its later years. The developers said at Hero Con that they were having trouble coming up with suitable and worthy rewards for the later levels, and it rather shows.
That being said, I take much umbrage at your implications that the Paragon Studios team is collectively lacking. That's when I begin trying to pick apart your arguments.

It's a cosmetic pet, AKA arm candy. It's supposed to do nothing other than make you look cool to new players.
If you want to talk about doing nothing, wait until you get the pets* that ACTUALLY do something until someone looks at them and they die. Then you can complain.

You know what I got for staying subscribed for 36 months to WoW?
Nothing, nudda, zip, sweet bupkiss.
I got a non-combat pet from blizzard in the mail for the 5 year anniversery and that was it, never recieved anything else.
MOST big name MMOs don't offer veterans rewards, what they do offer are often the 'once in a lifetime' ingame events that are the same as CoH anniversary badges, you miss them and that's it...can't take part in them ever again.
Imagine if the Rikti raids that came with Issue 10 were it, nobody could earn the accolade anymore, so unless you were there at the release of Issue 10, tough luck...that kind of event.
So... OP, are you upset that the free pony that you got wasn't lined in gold?
A travesty I say! We should kill that pony and beat it's dead corpse over and over again until we get what we DESERVE!
