Sorry for derailing Sam's thread about the size of the download. I'm just bummed about not seeing the changes -- he's right, if there's one update to get to see/test early, this is a good one to get into.
Interesting thought on that though, because everyone who got a closed Beta invite to the Dual Pistols should get the Demon Summoning one too as it's part of GR and we get GR testing through the loyalty scheme etc. I would imagine it'll be a seperate test.

It's not that hard to put together if you consider how often the devs like to sneak things in early... At least, that's what I'm guessing.

I want to be appreciated by beta testers to so I'm downloading the test client now as well. ^_^

How are we supposed to know if we are NOT in if they have NOT posted that invites have been sent, and those that did not get them should not try? It is called "pre-loading"

A lot of what you're getting is replacements for things we have now. There's a serious amount of texture overlap and replacement coming, not outright new additions.

As I said above, if you're in, you will be able to see the forum sections. Such has it been for every closed beta I've been involved in except for a minor glitch on the first one.

This 829 MB or so only adds around 230 or so MB to the total file size of the directory as compared to live. The rest is probably just updated graphical data.

Yes, but they haven't announced to the public that the beta forums are now up for those in the beta.

So they announced Closed Beta was starting Tuesday, and you're saying they need to confirm that it did in fact start? Yeesh.

Anyone who hasn't been in an Issue closed Beta before won't know what to look for, Lemur. I didn't know what to look for when I accidentally discovered I was in Dual Pistols Beta, and I don't know if I should be looking for the same thing now. Assuming people will just instinctively know where to look and what to look for is not a safe assumption.

It's not a question of how much is generally new in it, it's a question of the sheer size of the update. Even if most of it is replacements for old material, that just tells me there is a TON of material being replaced or updated. Whether we get new textures or better old textures, we're still getting a LOT.

Moreover, they've been working with a lot, and I appreciate the effort required for putting this huge pack of an Issue together.

At least we know they exist...

That's why drinking and beta'ing don't go together. *thumbs up*

They really should have a question about alcohol consumption to qualify for betas.

As long as you can't get into them, does it really matter? At least this is a good litmus test as to whether you're in Beta or not. Now that I know the forums exist and I can check against them, I can be SURE I'm not in Beta and stop trying to log in.

Stress testing the download servers is also useful, especially when such a big patch is involved.

I'm downloading and then deleting my Test folder then re-downloading. On download #5 now.

I'm forbidden from seeing the thread in the link. If you know what it's about, I assume you can read it. And if you can, you're probably in Beta. That was the point of the link, I think.

Might as well update test anyway, because I hate having to wait for patches to load when stuff is actually there for me to mess with. Had to DL all of Test in France when AE went live. That was annoying XD

Ther have been at least two betas, where many people had to PM to get their beta forums turned on.

Sorry, can't use that as a guaranteed indicator.
