If there were ever a CoH 2, what would it be? (Not a doom post)
Yep, and then b*** for 6 months with 1000 threads on how there is no new content.
sigh

Info that like really would have set the forums ablaze (... although I suppose that we've been ignoring the Q4 2009 financials for a while, so perhaps it wouldn't).
You know what's sad? I haven't had time to finish off a blog post about how Paragon Studios is working on another MMO, how Positron and Dark Watcher's 'other initiatives' have to be another title because CoH/V won't be a going concern indefinitely and then Paragon Studios turns around and makes it so easy.

Paragon Studios wants a Lead Concept Artist So there you have it. Paragon Studios is working on a new MMO. Given that they want (well, prefer) this lead character artist to be familiar with CoH/V, there is some evidence that it is a sequel or follow-on. |
Intruiging. Yeeesss...
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

I meant more was there anything done to allow players of EQI to continue their avatar in EQII, or were they totally separate?

However, let's point out that the flop was as much due to the execution of EQII at launch as anything else. Existing EQ players didn't feel it was EQ-enough for them to play; non-EQ players were enjoying WoW. Plus EQII was buggy as hell.
No more server segregation.
An AT system similar to VEATs. I think they hit the nail on the head with an AT that spoils you with more good powers that you can take, that allows players to take the AT into several different directions while still retaining the AT's flavour.

I'd really love to see a MMO with no servers to choose from. You just make a character and you in the same world as the thousands of others. That way, no "merge the servers" topics ever come up and there will always be people to play with. Forgoing that, then have the character selection screen come first so that you could say, for example, choose to play x character and then choose which server you want to play that character on. So, for me, I'd login and say, "I want to play Energizing Ion." and then the next screen shows the servers and then I select "Liberty" or any other server I'd want to play him on.
I'd also like to see some porting from CoH to CoH2 as well.
I'd like to see more powersets and the ability to mix and match more (instead of being 'stuck' in the powerset you chose).

I would hope they'd get rid of any missions that explicitly required teams, aside from strikeforces/taskforces (double-clickies and whatnot).
I'd hope for tons of new maps. Particularly office maps that made sense. Whomever the chief architect is in Paragon City, he should be fired. They're patently unsafe in the event of a fire or other tragic, life-threatening emergency. Where are the stairwells? The EXIT signs? But, more realistically, how about offices that are laid out like real offices, instead of twisty-tangly hallways and corridors that look like hamster-runs with oddly placed rooms off to the side?
And while we're on the subject of new maps, how about maps in new settings? Certain factions seem to get relegated to the same settings that everyone else does and that just seems a travesty. I'd really like to see the Igneous get a series of maps (and backstory) dedicated just to them. The same is true of the Coralax (and expand them to cover the entirety of the universe).
We could use a *large* Gotham-esque zone, accessible to any character, where PVP is optional. Fill it with factories spewing tons of smog into the air, warehouses, a towering business district smack in the middle standing as a high-tech contrast to the run-down residential district hovering around the edges. It should have lots of contacts and missions. It should be suitably dark. Crime should run rampant, and the presence of gangs and the mafia should dominate here. This is the zone to bring Outcasts, Hellions and Skulls to real power, as an earlier poster suggested. Expand them to cover the full level range, and put them in direct conflict with the Family and the Marcones for control of the zone. Citizens here are living in constant fear of intimidation, extortion, arson and murder. It's the heroes' jobs to save them, and the villains' job to add to the chaos or further their own goals here, free of Arachnos' influence. And here, let the Villains directly kidnap civilians off the streets for a bounty, or rob them; let them set fires, bomb buildings and do all those dastardly things that villains do. Let the villains be villains, for once. (Note: It's NOT a co-op zone.)
I'd like to see lots of new mission types and goals. Puzzles to solve. Traps to avoid. New ways of interacting with objects (though I'm not sure how that could be accomplished). Smash and bash gets old, and anything that requires me to use my brain and employ a little smarts before I just wade into the battle grounds me a little more in the game world.
I'd like to see bigger, badder threats to the city on the loose. Something worse than a GM. I'd love to see something twice the size of Adamastor leaping from building top to building top in Steel Canyon, unleashing his (or her) fury on the city, destroying buildings, attacking heroes, smashing civilians. A single monster equivalent in difficulty to a Rikti Invasion or a Zombie Apocalypse, with appropriate rewards for those who take part in taking it down.
Okay, enough dreaming. For now.
You know what would make CoX 2 the most epic game of all time?
If they had 1 to 50 content in the game, but when you go to a contact... The contact gave you missions based on your level. Meaning, the contacts do not have a set level.
You could do the content in any order you desire. That would give you infinite ways to get to 50. Not 1 set path but, 1000's of ways to get to 50. No one would have the same path. Everyone could exp the game in a different way.
DO NOT get rid of instanced missions, it really makes TEAMING great in this game, something that other games have lost site of. They all seem to want to make 1 player consol games, instead of making the awesome balance City of Heroes has between Teaming and Solo. Both are possible in this game, unlike others where I hear it can take 3 hours to get a team going, or in other games where its more of a PITA to get a team together, just easier and more convient to solo.
If and when they come out with such a game where you are not stuck in the Developers path to 50, but they allow us... the gamer the choices. I think that would make a great game.

This! Nothing grinds my teeth like being stuck with a mission I out leveled and have to wait 3 days to drop it, only to have the next mission be a defeat 30 Carnies.
"Samual_Tow - Be disappointed all you want, people. You just don't appreciate the miracles that are taking place here."
Also...
Outter Space! There are tons of Extraterrestrial characters out there without a home.

I've also found it amazingly arbitrary that we can only have three active missions.
Sure, there's the chance you could outlevel the content, but that's true fo any MMO, or even COX where you have 3 missions.
I'm wondering why we have such a low limit for active tasks, when we have so many active contacts.

It makes me think more of the 'level-less' idea I came up with a while back. Still no idea if it'd work, but I DO like this idea right here.
Out-levelling stuff sucks. ESPECIALLY when it wont let you drop a damn contact, who stays there clogging up your list with stupid, set level missions.

I would be the first person to 50.
:edit:
Then I would roll an alt and actually play the new game.
