Hi,

relax, respecs are available far more than that. You do respec missions for them, get them from various Veteran badges and we get free respects from the Dev's at regular intervals if the game play changes or new stuff is brought out.

You can also get a recipe drop for a respec by playing same as any other recipe drop only very rare but they do happen, and finally because they do drop it means they come up for sale in Ww's albeit for a tidy sum of Inf.

There are limits to the amount you can hold for some of the above so I suggest you check out the Wiki for detailed info.

Happy respec

Cheers

Yes. You can run the TF as many times as you want, but you can only ever earn 3 respecs on it.

How many times are you planning on screwing up your build?

Three respecs
One veteran respec per year, roughly. (9 months, 21 months, 33 months and so forth)
One freespec every time they significantly change a powerset
Freespecs for candy canes, last winter event
Respec recipes (for a ridiculous amount of inf, last I heard)
Cash respecs ($10 each; I can't imagine spending inf for a cash respec)

And I've been known to use my second build as a "Free respec".

Maybe it's because I'm a PVE'er, maybe it's because I come from the days before there WERE vetspecs or respec recipes (technically from the days before there were respecs AT ALL), but I average about one respec per character.

It's because you said respec recipe. The trials reward you with a respec.

Recipes have to be crafted (for a low sum of inf only, IIRC) and count as a "Freespec" not a earned respec (you can use /respec on freespecs only). Also, can't craft a Respec recipe if you have an already existing freespec (only 1 freespec at a time. "Earned" respecs stack).

I understood everything else, just wasn't sure if the respec trial thing was a fact, i just have accepted it as fact for the past 3 years, I am aware of all the other ways of recieving respects. They just get costly. >.<

Yes, it's a fact, you can earn three respecs per character from doing Respec Trials. The Trial doesn't award a respec recipe - it just gives you a respec. In fact, of all the methods of gaining a respec, only the Respec Recipe drop uses the recipe system at all - the rest grant you a respec directly - either an 'earned' respec or a 'free' respec. The difference being that you can only have one 'free' respec banked at any one time, while you can stack up 'earned' respecs.

The wiki page, of course, goes over all this.

Yeah the recipe part was an accident but thanks all for the useful information. Was trying to get around paying 150 mill but o well.

Using Mids Hero Planner can reduce the number of respecs you burn.

Also, you could use your second build as an additional respec, so to speak, although that doesn't let you move or re-use any enhancements in your main build. But in a pinch it is another chance to re-pick and re-slot your powers.

Which is not an option for those of us on Macs.

I think 'screwed up' builds is a bit a negative way of looking at using lots of respecs. Its fun to change around powers and slotting, I really enjoy changing even little bits around to se ehow different, and though dual builds is no good for that, needing all them IOs again can put me off that route. I use nearly every freespec I get, and not becuase I screwed up my build.

But if you are on a mac, and not using bootcamp or something, use Sucker Punches online build planner: http://www.cohplanner.com/ (the right hand side one) should work on any computer.

Hey, I've NEVER used Mids, but a lot of people do. I rarely plan any build, other than, "Hmm, what travel power would be appropriate?"

I respec a lot because I don't worry about careful slotting of powers early on. I fix them in the mid 20's or early 30s and put them on track for final build. But then if I discover a power is more useful than I thought or there's a new game mechanic/IO that changes everything. Generally I'm able to wait for freespecs though since I have so many characters I play

Mid's is the best by far, hands down. I don't know how anyone does builds another way. I use Mids to tweak and perfect everything. I compare various IO bonuses and such to get it perfect. My most recent build for my Dark/dark/dark defender has about 75% bonus accuracy, 14% damage and a large amount of regen, recovery and recharge (though I don't remember the numbers now).

I've used it, but it really only helps if you know ahead of time what you are putting into the power. Unlike Mids which helps you with the set bonuses etc.

As a result, all of mine are totally inefficient. For example, a regen with the fitness pool and more slots in Health than Fast Healing because Mids would have told me that was stupid, but Suckerpunch doesn't and I am.
