Assault Rifle update
Not going to happen. DP has a power that switches ammo type. AR doesnt.
Also, cottage rule and, possibly, standard code rant.

It'll be just like how we have all those cool combo attacks in katana after dual blades came out!
Cool? Yes.
Likely? Hell no.
No set has ever been retrofitted just because a new set with a new gimmick has been introduced. Furthermore, "adding in" the ammo types into Assault Rifle is a lot harder than just putting in a simple "Do this from now on, k?" bit. The Devs would have to completely recreate the set from scratch.
I, personally, would prefer they spent that time on making a completely new power set instead of trying to steal the shiny from one set just to tack it onto another.

I saw that Dual wield pistols are getting 4 or so different types of ammo. I'm wondering if the Assault Rifle powerset is gonna get some of that. I know for some of the attacks that would be stupid but on the other hand it wouldn't. If you use acid ammo for "AS" instead of the flamethrower you shoot an acid spray. Same for ignite, and all the other ammo types if you get the picture. Anyone else think that would be cool?

I agree that Assault Rifle needs a similar update, its very weak, as Smashing and Lethal are the two most resisted damage types in the game.
Also, i'd like to see Full Auto's animation reduced, as when it misses, its such a waste. |

Seriously. All secondaries have BU or in Devs case Targetting Drone. Two slotted for acc and, if you miss, you're fighting things way too high conning to you.
Or you have terrible luck.
Reducing flamethrowers end cost, or front-loading its damage, sure. But thats pretty much it.

As well, most any game I've seen presents shotguns as VERY powerful, but only effective at close range. Almost no game I've seen represents them as a weapon useful for hitting multiple target, so much as a weapon useful for hitting a single target HARD. It'd too late in the game to suggest Buckshot be made into a single-target heavy hitter, and adding more damage to it would not happen, but at least lowering its endurance cost to that of a single-target attack of the same power would be GRRRATE!

Tweaking Buckshot to count as a single-target attack would single-handedly SAVE the set in my eyes. As it is right now, it has a lot of AoE, but between caps, resistances and the general lack of single-target, that's not a well-balanced set. Just a third single-target attack would help it a lot.

You leave my AR alone, ya hear? Being an Empath/AR Defender it is my main source of staying alive seeing as I can heal others, help their End recovery and ressurecct them, but to help myself its my wits, and my rifle!
And my Rifle works fine how it is! Now, if I were to have a couple of pistols tucked in my belt too......?

Whenever I use it, FA rarely misses more than one or two mobs out of a group and usually gives me a warm fuzzy every time I use it on an 8-man team and see the "sea of orange". Unless you're trying to use it as a single-target attack, it's typically one of the most effective skills in the set and always delivers for me.
