One man SG, alt invite?

So I used to play with my son, so we had two active accounts. I just restarted my account, but as it's the schoolyear, he's not playing at the moment.

So now, with only one account... is there any way to get an invite sent to my own alt villain that I would like to create? Also, is there any way to just straight transfer int to my alt without a second person? I know there are market shenanigans that can be done... but bleh.

Thanks for any info that anyone has to offer!

All of those need a 2nd person involved.

I'd suggest asking (with a time frame you would like to do this) in the market forum. The regulars there are normally happy to help folks out with transfers.

I'd like to know too, glad you posted that. I solo on Freedom a lot (having a baby to get up every 5min. for = soloing a lot). Having my own VG for all my brutes, stalkers, and MM's would be win.

You cannot send invites to characters on the same account.

What you can do is invite someone else's character to your SG, promote him up, and have that character invite all of your alts. (Naturally, you'll have to log into each alt in turn to have them accept the invite.)

There is no way to directly transfer Inf to an alt. However, if you and the alt are both in the same SG/VG, you can store things in your base for your alt. This would require building up enough Prestige to have a Workshop with whatever storage containers (Enhancement table, Salvage rack, etc.). Just make sure all ranks of the SG/VG have permissions to take stuff out of the racks/whatever, and you can trade Enhancements and Salvage with your alts.

An easier way to do it would be to get another character involved. You trade Inf from your main to character X, and then X trades it to your alt. Some trust is necessary here, but most people aren't going to try and shaft you on this.

Thanks all for the answers. I was hoping in the time I had been gone something had been done to work out these problems... but I guess not.

Same issue I have, except I have 5 kids between 10 and 4 months, heh. I already have a SG with full salvage racks and storage tables and such... I just need to get the new toons tagged to be able to make use of them.

The quick answers are much appreciated!

There is a long way work around, that doesn't include an unknown person.

Start a second account.

If you use the "refer a friend" by sending a code to yourself.
http://www.cityofheroes.com/communit..._a_friend.html

Activate the code on your second account and subscribe for 1 month. Then your main account will be credited 1 month free time. So actually you didn't loose any money.

Then use an toon on the second account to transfer inf, put toons from your main account into your SG.

Best of all you can redo this every 90 days as an "invite a friend back", and the second account will also be live on Free weekend promotions.

The second account can also be used to help pad your main account with badges as well. Such as PvP badges, mentoring, or healing.

The OP really doesn't need to go to all that trouble since his son already has an account. If he knows his sons login and password he can use that account to do the invites and transfers.

And if it's been offline more than 90 days, he can do the "Invite-back" as part of that reactivation and get the "free"/extra time as well...

This is what I do. I go to Atlas Park (or Cap Au Diable if you're a baddie) and just ask. I state my intentions clearly:

"Greetings Atlas Park (or Cap Au Diable), I need a volunteer to help me invite an alt for a 1-person SG. It will only take 2 mins of your time, and I will pay 300k for your time."

You'll get a string of tells and response pretty quickly. You invite the stranger to your SG, promote them some ranks if wanted, and tell them you'll send them a tell from your alt. You log onto your alt and then tell them to type /sgi {name of alt} and have them promote you some ranks.

After your alt is invited, you logon back to your SG leader character and then pay them. You then ask them to quit your SG (or you can kick them).

Some precautions to take.
1. Disable base entry priviledges to all but the rank of your SG leader character.
2. Make sure only your leader can edit SG rank privileges.
3. (Paranoid step) Go into every bin and change permissions so only the SG leader can withdraw from the bins.

This precaution ensures you don't get someone who'll loot you while you're logging on/off different characters. I've never had a problem with theft actually, but it's always a good idea to be cautious. After your alt is invited, make sure you change the permissions back so your lowbie character can access the base and the bins.

The going rate for doing this varies, but I tend to err on the side of generosity since it (at least in my mind) discourages potential theft/griefing since they'll get a good reward if they just do what they're supposed to do. I've paid upwards of 1M when I asked someone to invite 4 characters. 1M is actually quite a bargain since every character you invite nets you 20k prestige. 20k prestige costs 10M inf if you were changing inf to prestige.

People in your coalitions / teaming channels will often do this for free, and it's not a bad idea to ask someone on your server via the forums. Forumites are actually the least likely to cheat you since if they're well known, you can rat them out.

Well, my son's account is inactive as well... so just knowing the login and password wouldn't really do me much good. Might go ahead and reactive for him though. We shall see. Unfortunately, it looks like trial accounts can no longer join SG's... bleh. Kinda crappy that they give you no tools to do your own transfers and then eliminate the workarounds.

EDIT: Thanks for the thoughts Fury. Was just hoping to not have to tinker with other people, base permissions and all that and just be able to do ti at my leisure and convenience. Ah well.

What Rajani meant was that once you have reactivated your account, use the tool "Invite-Back" sending an invite to your son's account. That gets your account some free time for sending the invite and another account that will be 100% safe to use for the SG invites.

Other than that, I know it's inconvenient to use the workarounds we have suggested in this thread, but they are effective and not all that heinous an amount of extra effort.

FYI, folks in the base Construction forum regularly perform this function for each other as well, if you are looking for "references" to find a trustworthy player to help you out.

Well, I was unaware that the forums here trimmed quote tunnels automatically. It was really more a response to the person who was being quoted by the poster I quoted, and I just included both for completeness sake.

This was really more what I was talking about in clarifying that my son's account was inactive.

No problem. I understood that your son's account is inactive, I just mentioned it because there really was no need to go to the trouble of creating an entirely new account then create a throw-away character just to do some invites/transfers.

There's also the benefit that by reactivating your son's account, even if only for a month, is that he might find some spare time during the time it's active and could jump on his account for some relaxing gaming.

Yeah, you can't build massive quote pyramids on these forums any more.

Right next to the quote button is one with a set of Quotation Marks. Use that in the first post you want to reference and each other one after that and instead of a pyramid, you get an extended string of quotes to play with.

That's one change that no one has mentioned to you yet (that I have seen in your other threads) - the mechanisms of this board are different and take a bit of getting used to. Here's a stickied thread from down in City Life started by Westley with some pointers about using this version of the boards:

Yeah, I have an alt account for my sister, but I mainly created it for SG manipulation. I have gotten her to play, though, so it's not all bad.

It really depends on how many characters you want in the SG. If you just have one main and play him all the time, it's probably easier to just get a random stranger to help. When you've got like 5-10 characters all bumping around in the SG base and shuffling around salvage, that second account comes in handy.

I'll add that while Recipes cannot be traded with a base, Salvage and Enhancements can. This can be a quick way to transfer money. Buy up a bunch of SOs from the Market, put them in the base, pick them up with your alt and sell them to the store. You can also try buying and selling Salvage as well, but that'll take a little more time. And the Enhancement trick will usually net you more money.

Item 1 doesn't work the way you think it does. If someone in a member of the SG, there is *NOTHING* you can do to keep them from getting into the base. There is no such rank setting.

The setting that you're referring to is only to change what ranks are allowed to change the base entry options at the bottom of the settings window, namely to allow entry to teammates (when a member is the leader) and coalition members.

And again, RMT ruins it for the honest customer. That's the issue.
