Freedom Phalanx : 2050
Scirocco [Electricity/Storm Corruptor] After years of serving Archanos and Lord Recluse, the man named Scirocco eventually began to tire of the pointless brutality and violence and injustice caused by his Masters and made his escape to Paragon City. It took many years for the much hated man to gain the trust of the Heroes, but after sealing the magical rift under the Hollows they welcomed him with open arms. |

When people refer to time travel here, they usually only think about the past. It's nice to see someone talk about a possible future that wasn't destroyed due to a civil war within Arachnos or such.
Maybe 2050 has also:
-Dark Astoria reclaimed (I'd like to see how it is with sunlight and no fog)
-Boomtown rebuilt. (With all the super strength tankers and gravity controllers who could have done it in a day......)
-The Coming Storm came and was successfully driven away
-Nemesis is defeated forever. (None of that "it's one of his plots")
Can't come up with a name? Click the link!
Well.... someone turn them into time-traveling MA arcs.

Recently I was thinking, What will the next generation of CoH heroes be like? Just for fun I put together a few character bio's...
The Clockwork Queen [Mastermind Clockwork/Empathy] After the Clockwork King died in the Malta Gambit, his fast array of Clockwork minions lay inert, until Penelope Yin took control of the vast psychic network. Now as a member of the Freedom Phalanx she serves as the worlds primary disaster aid resource, her clockwork repairing and rescuing where they once only worked to propagate their own numbers. Most countries in the world have their own regiment of clockwork troops ready to roll out at a moments notice. Faultline [Earth/Stone Controller] After the conclusion of the 2nd Rikti War Faultline and his wife Fusionette were hailed as heroes, not only having prevented another invasion, but finally ensuring peace between the Rikti and humans by decisively defeating Lord Nemesis during the Nemesis Ultimatium. The couple divide their time between protecting Paragon City and raising their children. Fusionette [Energy/Energy Blaster] While Fusionette may have been named "Most Kidnappable Super Heroine" in the Rogue Islanads Villain Weekly Magazin [3 years running] the young heroine surprised everyone when her passionate appeal to the Rikti overmind convinced not only the aliens to call off their attack but to lend their power to the young heroine, giving her the ability to defeat Lord Nemesis once and for all. Since that final epic act, Fusionette has avoided the spotlight, prefering to take her kids to soccer practice than to destroy giant robots, but her experience and kindness (Not to mention her power once roused) makes her a key member of the Freedom Phalanx. Honouree [Invulnerability/Super Strength Tanker] After the Rikti War ended the the Rikti became one of Earths closest allies, Hero 1 was returned to earth, but due to his quasi-magical nature the Lost Cure had no effect. Passing the mantle of Hero 1 onto another worthy soul, the Honouree serves both as the primary Rikti Ambassador to Earth and one of it's greatest heroes. |
I'd throw in Mirror Spirit since essentially she's immortal. Her arch nemesis being Foreshadow who has been reincarnated as a villain. Statesman could still be around if he hasn't been killed, since he's immortal as well too.
I think you should push the year back, maybe 2020 since assuming Fusionette's and Faultline are 15 at the youngest (and I recall Penny Yin is supposed to be younger), 2050 would make them old enough for grandkids, and neither have powers that suggest longevity.
Though there's a possible sliding timescale to consider, but thus far it doesn't seem the case besides some old text in game needing a bad rewrite. (Angus McQueen, some newspaper mission articles have the date as 2005, etc. etc.)
Also, for major happy ending for the Clockwork King- Penelope Yin, Sister Psychic, Swan, and Numina manage to help restore his sanity and even his body, he's still serving hard time and community service hours, but to be flesh and blood once more as well as have a real chance to be with his Clockwork Princess, he couldn't be happier.

The Year 2020 would probably make more sense.
I was also thinking of....
Tin Mage v2.0 [Thermal/Energy Defender]
Just before being destroyed in the Praetoria War Citadel came together with the Hero Numina to create his last and greatest creation, the recreation of the Tin Mage; blending the Science and Magic origins together. While the experiment was a limited success, no matter how they tried the magic of Tin Mage could not be reproduced. After Citadel was destroyed Positron was able to perserve his programming and transfer it into the Tin Mage body; where to the surprise of all the magic of Tin Mage was activated. The only missing ingredient was the most important; a soul, earned by Citadels years of selfless service and dedication to Paragon City.
I was also wondering who would be best to replace Statesman as the Leader of the Phalanx. I believe Miss Liberty would be the most obvious. Any thoughts?

I definitely think it should be someone else leading FP. Someone similar in thought process as Statesman but not directly related to him.

Captain New Year:
Growing up as the Baby New Year is a hard life. Constant harassment by Red Caps and a never ending youth can drive a soul to dark places.
During a particularly bad holiday season the poor child had enough of it and in a fit of rage left Father Time for Paragon City, forsaking his immortality to be free of the never ending torment.
Time went on without the Baby and soon time took hold and for the first time in centuries he finally began to age like a normal human.
Though the youngest member of the Freedom Phalanx his centuries of wisdom and knowledge has landed him an honorary place on the new Midnight Council, who are gathering all the magic forces to face the next coming of Rularuu.
Though he refuses to use the powers granted to him at birth out of spite to Father Time his knowledge and wisdom have proven invaluable in the preparations for the next storm to weather Paragons shores.
Terra (Devouring Earth MM)
The body of Tanya Tyler had long been destroyed after it had been converted into a breeding Devouring Earth. However her mind remained trapped within Hamidon, bound to the Will of the Earth
It took the combined efforts of Woodsman and a team of psychics to draw her mind to the surface. With her help Hamidon was finally pushed back into the Hive after encroaching on the borders of Paragon.
With her new found freedom she escaped , now a mutant strain of the Will of the Earth. Controlling her minions from the new Freedom Phalanx headquarters she can reach
Except there's pretty fat suggestion all over the place that there may be no curse and that he's just evil on the inside, but unable to admit it to himself as is typical of self-righteous villains. Arbiter Daos lays the same suspicions it in almost those exact words.

Ms. Liberty gets some sense knocked into her and has passed on her mantle to young heroine and has refocused Longbow as a disaster relief group than a militia. She resigns as Longbow head and a hero with the words: "I thought the world needed stronger heroes to combat the evils of this world, but what we needed were stronger hearts to help each other face the darkness within ourselves."

I don't see the Honoree ever being turned back to hero, but I dig the Faultline gang as a new generation of heroes.
These are pretty cool. And on this note, I think it would be really cool to see possible future arcs in Ouroboros, instead of just time travel to the past.

The only member of the current Phalanx that I would really want to see in the future version would be Manticore because, as this game's Batman, we all know we want to see Manticore Beyond.
I think that line up sounds really neat, especially the background behind them.
And hey, I think it'd be nice for Fusionette and Faultline to catch a break from being disliked so much some day. If they actually wound up competant and doing the right thing.
....
Oooo...I just had an idea for an arc!
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

I vote for Frostfire!
After years of fending off attacks from the Superhero Community, Trolls and various other fauna of The Hollows, Frostfire is saved from a deadly Rikti Assault by the New Freedom Phalanx/Freedom Phalanx 2050 - led by Honoree (just taking the idea and running with it!) and helped by the 'timely' intervention of Ouroboros.
It turns out that Frostfire's very own powers (Fire and Ice Control) are instrumental in maintaining the timestreams and, after some time, he joins the Phalanx convincing some of his former criminal Outcast buddies to help out. He is a villain redeemed and returns to the values he once had before he became a criminal. Things move on and in true comic book irony, his cosmically important powers launch him into a career as Guardian of Ouroboros.

Interesting premise and one I've often considered myself. Don't forget that a few long-lived characters might still be around, notably Statesman and Sister Psyche.
As for the characters' current ages, they've never been spelled out too clearly, but I do recall a post by Hero 1 stating that Penelope Yin was older than most people thought she was and is a freshman in college.
I particularly like everyone's comments on Scirocco. Personally, I always assumed that the current Scirocco would be gone by the time of a "next generation" storyline, replaced by a heroic bearer of the mantle (just as the current villain replaced a hero who fell in the Rikti War).

Oh I really do like the idea of Frostfire as a redeemed hero.
Though I suppose this means his daughter Coldsnap will have to entertain lowbie heroes in the Hollows in the future.....
